Chapter 2:

〚 Day 1.1〛The Town of Blancshire

Clinical Knight

What the fuck I was thinking at that time...that's just so pretentious.

And now, I have to also protect her whilst we both goes on a quest to pay all of that sum? Now you've got to kidding me...

"Ars?" She stopped.

"Yes?"

"What are you spacing out for?" I looked into her brown eyes as she stops and turned into me.

"...nothing" It looks like I won't be able to turn away now.

...you know, ever since I said all of that thing to her, she seems to be a lot more calm and... reassured compared when we are at the court and our two meeting, so he really trusts her brother that much...though now I don't have the heart to ask her why.

Earlier, I asked her to take me around the town and she obliged, right now we're strolling on a sidewalk made out of a red stone brick that leads us to the town square. There were buildings left and right, each made out of stone brick of various shade of white, it looks like a certain country in Greece but they instead use thatch as a roof that gave it a yellow shade.

"So like...do you have any plan?" she said as she turned into me.

"Well, that's why I asked you to take me around the town"

"I see, you know I'm not as smart as you but I remembered that there are several way, though I can't think of one that best suited us"

"Can you tell me what you had in mind?"

"Well, there's the first option" a cacophony of conversation strikes my ear as I looked down ahead at the town square.

It's a large open area with the same stone brick I walked before, and on top of that a bunch of stalls of many resources being sold, there were meats of many animals, vegetable of many colors, clothes of kinds, various food being made and shiny jewelries. Among the stalls, people have been going round and around, some were buying the ingredients to soon be turned into lunches and dinner, some were buying their children candies and there are just too many people with different purpose being there, including us that are just walking around.

And passing by one of the stalls, I see an advertisement that mentions the name of this town that I have not known before.

The best smoked lamprey skewers in Blancshire!

"Oh...it looks like an eel?"

"Hey there! Mind for a bite young boy? It's only 3 gold coins for 2 skewer!"

"Hmm..." I stroked my hair, it looks pretty good with that crimson spices and other...earthly looking spices-

"Fine...we haven't had lunch anyway." she handed the granny 2 coins and she gave me one skewer after receiving it from her.

"Eh? Is that okay...? How many do you have right now?" I said after taking a bite, and it was delish- she then looked at me with a relieved sigh.

"You...aren't as annoying before, but you still have a good taste in food Ars" she then take a bite too, I can see she's enjoying it with a bit of that red and grin in her face.

"Is that so..." Maybe she's right, everything I picked to eat always turns out delicious, even the instant noodles I bought on my high school years still tasted good, yet I don't think I'm going to sell food on the market, it's just a hassle to find the ingredients let alone cooking it (I can only make fried egg) and selling it, that's not even accounting for the sale, it's a no go.

Walking among the crowd, we found ourselves before a wandering "Orchestra" playing a one of a classical piece that are very similar to Rondo Alla Turca, but they're played in those strange guitar with 3 necks and some bagpipes, they're also showering in gold coins throwed by passerby.

...not so much of a musician myself, I can only listen to it.

"Umm...Quinn?"

"...?"

"What are these noticeboard for?" I pointed at a board made out of cork outside a building made out of a smooth white bricks that are clearly on their league of their own than the other building in the town, not to mention the green copper statue that are standing on top of it.

"Oh...that's for a commission"

"What's a commission?"

"Well..." she stopped and walked to me.

"It's something you and dad always do on the weekend"

"I see, what do we always do?"

"...I remembered one time dad takes both of us to the candy store to tried some of their candy, and it turns out terrible, yuck"

"Ah...something like a bounty and volunteering?"

"There are actually separate bounty board inside of the building, I can say it's pretty dangerous"

"I see, what's this building called anyways?"

"Athenaeum, it's one of our kingdom building that recruit knights I guess?"

"Ah, like an entrance exam?"

"What's an entrance exam?"

"Actually...forget it, so like we can become a knight if do a bunch of commission and bounty?"

"Something like that, I mean dad is a knight"

"I see, so like..."

"...?"

"How about we join them?"

"...let's just walked around first, I haven't show you the farm yet."

"Got it...we shouldn't be too hasty"

"Of course dumbass, it's not like you're fit to be a knight either"

"Ach...Alright then" Well, you know, after looking around for a while, I just realized just how smug she is, telling me all of this stuff, does she has like a superiority complex? Or is she like, never actually got to do this before? Either way, she's really are a good help as we got several option to get us some coins. Though it's really strange that she can be like this after all of that stuff, what is it of her?

"Mhmm~ Mhm~"

Honestly, I can't really tell.
