Chapter 2:
Not Yours... But I love You
Chapter 2
Annoyed... Fort was more than annoyed by the messages he read as another of his relationships came to an end.
At his age, he had been hoping to finally have someone by his side for a long time, and as he, or anyone else, thought about his position, he found himself thinking about who wouldn't want to have someone like him as their long-time life partner.
Fort was rich, famous, well-known, as well as handsome. Did I mention rich? He was much more successful in that respect than many could ever hope for.
His money didn't come only from his family's business, but also from all the fame he had built up for himself, even though his father thought it was all useless...
As a matter of fact, the older man always told him that it was all futile and that all this love would only last a while until the next handsome young face came along to replace him in all his fans' hearts.
It was a sad reality that affronted many who work in the entertainment industry, and many were unable to say they were capable of overcoming it.
Therefore, back to the messages on his phone, Fort found himself questioning if it was what was happening to him... If all his fame was what had ended his romantic life once again.
At first, his lover, or rather, former lover, had told him that he loved all that attention. He was a young YouTuber, a fresh model, who was still getting to know that side.
They were at an event where they both took part, and the second time they saw each other again was when Fort's team invited some new faces to his concert as part of their marketing.
It was a simple 'like' on social media all it took to get both men to go on a date before they started going out immediately after such events.
Everything was fine between them as far as Fort knew about it, so none of that made sense to him.
The idea that he wanted a more simple relationship... Without too much attention... Without fans after them twenty-four hours a day... None of that made sense when he remembered how many times the other man had told him that he loved this all.
Red carpets were his favorite ones, as they always made him feel like a real celebrity, even if Fort had never treated him differently.
"I'm free for the rest of the day, right? I'm going back home!"
Barely waiting for his manager to answer him, Fort grabbed his jacket from his chair, quickly putting it on as he left the dressing room while taking long strides to his car, not listening to any of the people following after him.
He knew that they all should already know about everything before him. He knew they should be aware of everything by now, explaining everyone's strange behavior since they had met that morning.
It was almost as if they were hiding something from him, but no matter how many times he asked, the answers they gave him were always the same, while they had very fake smiles on their faces as they tried to pretend that everything was fine.
And so, driving as fast as he could, he attempted to put such thoughts away from his mind, turning on the radio, only to turn it off a few seconds later when his phone notification rang once again.
Comments left by fans were what showed up to him now.
“He is much better without you now!”
“I knew he must be straight!”
“When will he stop pretending?”
“I’m so happy they finally broke up! P’Fort deserves something better!”
“Why were they even together in the first place, besides all the marketing?”
Those were the words of the people who disliked when he was with the man he loved, of those who said they supported his decisions and him as an artist, despite everything...
He had come out years ago when he dated a model, and a kissing picture of them showed online. It would be hard to pretend it never happened when they were so easy to see it was him on them that only a silly person wouldn't believe it was him.
So trusting that his fans would understand him, he confirmed their relationship back then without imagining that new rumors like those would arise after it.
Many said it was just his way of getting attention, to try to become more popular since he hadn't any talent besides his family's money.
Words that once again returned to his mind like a playlist on repeat until he finally reached the street to his house, turning the car to the right, driving a little further until the big gates of the mansion stood before him.
However, he cannot go in right away as it was his wish.
HONK! HONK!
Getting even angry, he blasted the horn to get the boy, who appeared to be a teenager, out of his way.
But not even a finger moved as he kept staring back at the car, not knowing what to do next...
And it didn't please Fort at all while his mere wish was to go back to the comfort of his home and the laughs of his son before his father interfered between them, telling him how he had warned him that it would happen.
So, after hesitating for a moment, he lowered the car window, checking the boy once more before he decided to get out of the vehicle, taking his frustrations out on someone else, even if only for a short while."Are you going to keep standing there? Or will I need to run over you to get you out of my way?"
That was all he had to say to make the boy shake in fear before him, and despite the distance, he could yet see it clearly from behind his sunglasses. A 'tsk' escaped his lips when Fort went back to his car after hearing the weak apology that wasn't even enough to fight back against him.
" He must be just a curious teenager wondering about his celebrity neighbor after moving here."
Thinking to himself, he didn't want to spend much more time of his thoughts on that as he parked the vehicle, being greeted by the little Wayo as soon as he opened his door, which made it impossible for him not to notice how his son's new nanny wasn't with him as usual as the family's housekeeper was the one keeping him company...
"Yo... What did you do this time?"
... Putting a hand on his forehead, Fort felt that his headache was only beginning that day.
