Chapter 72 Letter

Content of the Magic Box

Suzuka and Larry have successfully hunted and disposed of four wolves. They have collected evidence to prove their accomplishment. The task was not an easy one, as wolves are known to be dangerous and unpredictable animals. However, Suzuka and Larry were well-prepared and utilized their skills and knowledge to carry out the task successfully.

Larry comes up with the idea, "I have a plan for how to kill all of them, we will hide our presence and wait till they show up. With all this fresh meat and blood smell in the air, they will be rushing like flies."

Suzuka ripped her sword out of the wolf's side and said, "That works for me, this way we won't need to go around the forest aimlessly."

Suzuka and Larry were hidden nearby, concealing themselves as they waited. Their eyes were focused on the nearby area as they waited for the wolves to appear. As they waited Suzuka asked, "Larry, I saw you with David. you two seemed like friends. So, I will ask you straight, is David a creep?"

Larry was visibly shocked by the question, but he answered, "Pffh! What? David, creep? Hold on, did he do something or said something stupid? But to answer your question, he is not, at least not while I'm around. Look, he has women problems, between us guys, he's fine. So yeah, I can't answer your question honestly. He might be doing some dumb stuff. Why you ask?"

Suzuka answered, "He looks at me weirdly, and talks strangely. It feels like he is following me, where I look he's there."

Larry talked in a calm and collected tone, "Listen, I am not one to talk but more than half of the guild wanted to take you on the quest and later after to their room. You are a hot woman, all men have a thing for you, my guess is, David is the same."

With a slight concern in her voice, Suzuka asked, "Wait, hold up. Half of the guild's men wanted what?"

Larry calmed her down, "Don't worry, ya boy Larry took care of it. I informed them that you are friends with Olivia. They should not bother you on anything but quests."

Suzuka said, "Well, Olivia sure is popular in this guild. And respected, one word and everyone in line. Can you tell me more about her? I mean, I only had the pleasure to be with her for barely two days."

Larry exclaimed with a hint of awe in his voice, "Oh, wow! Two days?"

Suzuka asked, "Yeah, two days, why so surprised?"

Larry said, "No nothing, she's just too much for me to handle her for a few hours. Can't imagine a few days."

Suzuka asked, "So? What can you tell me about her, don't leave a detail out."

Larry started to talk, "Okay, I will tell you this. She truly is a mystery, even after all these years that I've known her. You see, she keeps her past close to her chest and rarely shares anything private. I only know her adventurer's name and race. But, let me tell you what I do know - she's got a magnetic personality, she's a heart-stopper, and knows how to charm both men and women alike.

And when it comes to strength, she's got it in spades. She's one of the few people I know who was able to hold her own against the guild leader Wara and push him to a draw. That's no small feat, let me tell you that. And have you heard of the Minotaur tournament? She won it! Yes, she truly is a beast. I may not know much about her personal life, but she's left a lasting impression on me and everyone in the guild."

Suzuka said, "Sheee... Larry, wait, do you hear that? Listen, I think bloody wolfs are coming."

They could hear the sound of the wolves in the distance, their howls growing closer and closer with each passing moment. Suzuka and Larry knew that they had to be ready for anything, as they prepared themselves for the wolves' arrival.

The wolves finally appeared, and there were six of them. Suzuka and Larry held their breath, waiting to see what the pack would do. The wolves approached the fresh meat cautiously, sniffing at it before finally digging in and feasting.

Suzuka and Larry burst from their hiding place. She raised her hand, focusing her magic. The wolves started to look uneasy, as the ground beneath them began to shift and churn. Suddenly, two of the beasts were lifted into the air by an unseen force, their bodies writhing in mid-air. Suzuka clenched her fist, and the wolves slammed to the ground, lifeless.

Larry stepped forward, brandishing his sword. One of the remaining wolves lunged at him, but he was ready. He sidestepped the attack and brought his sword down in a swift, deadly arc, cutting the wolf down.

Suzuka unsheathed her sword, a fierce look in her eyes. The remaining wolves closed in, but she was ready. With a series of quick, precise strikes, she dispatched the beasts, leaving none standing.

Panting slightly, Suzuka and Larry surveyed the battlefield. The once-threatening wolves lay motionless at their feet, "I think it is all of them, Let's collect kill proof and go back to the guild."

After double-checking that everything was in order, they started to make their way back to the guild. This was the next step in their quest, as they needed to turn in the proofs to the guild in order to receive the reward. When they left the forest and entered the safe area of the town, Laughing Larry become his usual boisterous self.

As they approached the guild building, they pushed open the heavy doors and stepped inside, greeted by the familiar sights and sounds of the lobby.

Laughing Larry strode into the grand hall of the guild building, he threw the doors open with a flourish, his confidence and charisma radiating outwards. With a hearty laugh and a shout of triumph, he announced his arrival to the room, his booming voice echoing off the walls.

"Listen up, guild folk! The one, the only, Laughing Larry is back and better than ever!" he exclaimed, his infectious grin spreading across his face. "And let me tell you, I've got another success under my belt, folks. Can I get a round of applause?"

Larry confidently approached the reception desk, radiating an air of ownership. He was greeted by Lisanna, who had returned and was ready to help.

Lisanna's eyes twinkled with admiration as she praised Laughing Larry. "Well, well, well," she said, "I must say, Laughing Larry, you're quite the worker. To take on four quests in just two days is no small feat and as always your lending a helping hand to new adventurers. That is a nice gesture. If only you could lower your big dick energy, you would be perfect."

She then turned her attention to Suzuka and greeted her warmly. "Hello there, Helen," she said, "I heard a rumor that you were looking for me. It's always a pleasure to see a familiar face in this bustling guild hall." Lisanna's kind smile and welcoming tone made Suzuka feel at ease.

Suzuka said, "Yes, I come by in the morning, looking for the quest, but it's fine now. Larry offered to tag along and we just finished the quest. We came in to turn in the kill proof."

Suzuka and Larry presented the proof of their kills. Lisanna carefully checked and recorded each item, "Amazing, ten bloody wolfs. Helen, you will get your first title on your card. As for you Larry, you will get your second title on a bloody wolf kill count."

After the lengthy but necessary process was complete, the attendant stamped the quest papers and handed them back to Suzuka and Larry. She paid them 30 silver coins and they split them 15 silver each. Suzuka's total funds now are 96 silver coins and 294 copper.

As Larry bid farewell to the ladies, he flashed them a charming grin and spoke in a warm, confident tone, "Ladies, it has been a true pleasure, but I must take my leave now. There is still so much to do and so much daylight left to make the most of. Business calls, you know."

With a jaunty step, he began to stroll away, his presence exuding charisma and his magnetic personality leaving a lasting impression. "Till we meet again," he said with a final wave, "Farewell for now, my lovely ladies."

Suzuka spoke highly of Larry to Lisanna, "You know what?" she said, with a twinkle in her eye. "Larry is a good man. I had the pleasure of going on an adventure with him. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to go on another adventure with him. Simply put, I liked it." Suzuka's words were filled with respect for Larry.

Lisanna smiled and replied, "Yes, that's true. Larry can come across as rough around the edges when you first meet him, but once you embark on a quest with him, his true character shines through. In fact, I've heard many people say that they greatly enjoyed their time with him and wouldn't hesitate to go on another quest."

Suzuka said, "I wanted to ask you about David..."

Lisanna scrunched her nose and curled her lip in disgust at the mere mention of David. She spat on the ground with disgust, making a show of her contempt. "Ugh, Helen. Let's talk about something else, please."

Suzuka shifted the conversation to a new topic, "Okay then, I was wondering if there's a way for me to send a personal letter to Woodmill town. I understand that it might be expensive, but I'd just like to find out if it's possible." she said with a polite tone.

Lisanna explained the complexities and dangers of delivering letters in a world filled with monsters, "Well, it's not easy. Delivering letters is a dangerous job and only the most important letters from higher-ups are being delivered between towns. And it is expensive, too."

Lisanna continued, "The journey is treacherous and the carriers have to be heavily armed and protected. And since the route is only taken once every two months, it adds to the cost."

She emphasized that it is a difficult and treacherous task, and as a result, the cost of sending a letter is high. Postal delivery only occurs once every two months, adding to the challenges faced by those who wish to send correspondence. She went on to explain that the journey is fraught with danger, as the postal workers must navigate through monster-infested territories and overcome various obstacles in order to deliver their precious cargo.

Lisanna explained, "Let me give you the details on sending a letter to Woodmill town. For the average person, it would cost 4 gold coins. However, I must inform you that sending letters to the neighboring town is not a common practice. In fact, it is a rare occurrence."

She continued, "I mention this to give you a better understanding of the cost and the infrequency of this type of service. Keep in mind, it is not a regular request, but it is still available for those who need it. Also, there is a big risk that the letter never reaches the recipient."

Suzuka sighed in frustration, "This is really disappointing. The cost is high and there is no guarantee that it will actually deliver. For just four gold coins, I could hire some adventurers to accompany me on the journey back to my hometown and reunite with my parents in person. I believe that would be a much safer and more reliable option."

Lisanna inquired, "Oh, is this a letter to your parents?"

Suzuka responded with a nod, "Yes, I thought it was about time I let them know that I am still alive. I imagine they must have been worried sick, thinking that I'm dead."

There was a hint of sadness in her voice, as she continued, "I haven't been able to get in touch with them for a while, and I know they must have been so concerned. I wanted to send a letter that can bring them some peace of mind and let them know that I am doing alright."

Lisanna expressed her concern, "Oh dear, I can only imagine how much they must be missing you." Her eyes conveyed genuine empathy as she spoke.

Suzuka chuckled as she spoke to Lisanna, "It's been over a year, so they probably forgot all about me. I'm just kidding, of course. But, I have to go now. It was nice talking to you, Lisanna. I'll see you tomorrow. Bye!" She smiled warmly before turning to leave, waving goodbye as she walked away.
