Chapter 7:

Confrontation

Akira's Revenge

It was around nine in the morning when Naomi had received a message from a certain someone. It was Akemi, who wanted to talk with her. At first, Naomi despised Akemi’s gut since he had ruined what should’ve been a wonderful third anniversary of Naomi’s marriage. But after they uncoincidentally met at the shop not so long ago, they had plenty of discussions.

After Naomi heard Akemi out, the anger she felt towards him slowly evaporated. She still had her doubts about him, but she felt she didn’t needed to be on her guard as much. Akemi had told her about his situation with Akira, of how they used to be friends until something happened between them. That was the first time Naomi had heard about it, so her shock was clearly noticeable.

After she was confronted by Akira, she noticed the distain he felt towards Akemi. Based of what Akemi told her, she couldn’t help but feel obligated to fix things between them. That was why she accepted his invitation to that dinner, it was so the two could be friends again. However, that turned out to be a fatal mistake on her part, as she didn’t expect Akira to lash out at Akemi. After Akira had made such a fool of himself, Naomi couldn’t help but be mad at him.

Her heart ached as she couldn’t handle it anymore. In the spur of the moment she fled to her parents. Despite having left Akira alone for the past two weeks, she still craved his warmth. As her thoughts were suddenly interrupted by the vibration of her phone, she had gotten a new message from Akemi. This time he asked where they would be talking.

As Naomi was looking around, she had decided on a place where they can meet. And so with that she texted Akemi of the place. “..Come meet me there at 11:00am. And send it.” she said, as she pressed the send button.

She leaned backwards, stretching her arms. “Maybe I shouldn’t meet him, after all.” Naomi still had her second doubts, but she felt she needed answers. What exactly happened between the two and why was Akira so hostile against Akemi, those were the questions that kept bothering her. If she couldn’t find the answers through Akira, then finding out through Akemi was the best alternative.

Still, the unease in her stomach was present, and slowly grew worse the more she thought about it; Despite that though, she had no signs of giving up whatsoever. And so as time passed, reaching the time of their meeting together, Naomi found herself facing a familiar door;

It was the door to her house, which she spent a few weeks away from. Normally, Akira, her husband, usually keeps the key to their house with him, but when Naomi ran away, she had snatched one of the spare keys laying around. With that same key in her hand, she opened the door. After she entered, she was suddenly overwhelmed by the depressing atmosphere. Her home used to give off a joyful and warm air that brightened the mood, but now it gave off nothing more than a dark, cold feeling that left goosebumps behind.

Naomi quickly rubbed both her arms, calming her down. She entered the living, and after seeing what a mess it had become, she decided to clean up first. When she was done, at the exact moment the doorbell rang.

“Coming!” Naomi yelled as she hurried herself to the front door. She opened it, and was greeted by Akemi, who’s mouth curved into a smile.

“Morning.” Akemi said. Naomi returned the greeting.

“Welcome, here come inside.” she gestured Akemi to enter.

“Pardon me.” Akemi said as he entered, he quickly took off his shoes.

“This way.” Naomi guided him towards the living. When they arrived there, she told Akemi to sit on the sofa. Akemi gladly took her offer and sat on one end of the sofa. Naomi sat on the other end.

Naomi turned to face Akemi, and broke the ice.

“So, what is it that you wanted to talk about?” she asked, with her hands resting on her lap.

“Well… It’s about…” with each word Akemi spoke, his tone kept lowering, making it unclear for Naomi to understand.

“Wait, about what exactly?” she was starting to feel creeped out by Akemi’s behavior. She didn’t understand why he was acting this way. The gut feeling was slowly growing, as she put on her guard.

“…..” again he started mumbling something quietly, it was totally incomprehensible to Naomi. Was he even serious? Or was he just messing with her? Those questions filled her head, as a cold sweat dripped from her cheek.

Having concluded that this was a bad idea, she was going to make him leave, but as she stood up, it was then that Akemi had grabbed her by the wrist. After being suddenly touched, Naomi’s brain immediately switched to defense mode, her guard levels rose exponentially as she began seeing Akemi as a threat.

Akemi’s grip began tightening, so much so that it began hurting Naomi’s wrist. After she violently waved her arm in the air, Akemi’s grip began loosening, after wiggling a few times she had freed herself from his grip. She ran to the kitchen, grabbing a knife in the process. But right on her tail was Akemi, who didn’t seem to mind that she’d armed herself.

In fact, he began smiling. His pupils turned an ebony color, a dark aura began emitting from his body as well. He was like an animal silently looking at his prey, as if not able to hold it together anymore, he wetted his lips.

In a split moment, he jumped towards his prey. With his arms stretched forward, it left quite an opening. Naomi saw it, and quickly adjusted her pose, making sure she dodged Akemi’s arms. She bended down slightly, and only after Akemi had passed her, she began her counter attack.

She punched him right beneath his chin with all her might, it was indeed a spectacular uppercut. As Akemi was sent flying due to the impact, Naomi quickly ran away. With the knife now in her hand, and her phone in the other, she began calling the authorities. However, it was as she did that she felt skull being torn from behind her.

As she ignored the pain, she looked behind her. It was Akemi, who had caught up to her, his sickening smile widened. He pulled her towards him, and head-butted her. It caused Naomi to fall forward, scraping her knees in the process.

Naomi held her head tight with both hands, as an immense pain began plaguing her mind. Her thoughts became foggy, and unclear. But she wasn’t allowed to rest for even a moment, as Akemi began sitting on her stomach, firmly locking her in place.

He grabbed Naomi by the throat, and slowly started tightening his grip. As his eerie grin grew even more wider, as he saw Naomi desperately struggling. Despite doing everything what she can, forcing every cell in her body to loosing Akemi’s grip, it still wasn’t enough. He was just too strong for her.

The difference in anatomy really wasn’t doing Naomi a favor. She could only stare at Akemi’s lifeless gaze, as he tightened his grip once more. As she was reaching her limit, she desperately looked around in search of an item.

There in the corner of her right eye, she saw an object glittering, it was the knife she grabbed from the kitchen. Without missing a beat, she reached towards it, grabbing it from the helm. It was time for another counter attack.

She immediately sliced Akemi’s face, primarily targeting his eye. As he was screaming in agony, he let go of her. Naomi followed it up by kicking him in the stomach, he fell on his back, and continued to wail in pain.

After stabilizing her breathing, Naomi got up and quickly ran towards the door. But it was as she arrived at the hall when something unexpected happened. As she had just reached the front door, there a figure came in sight to her right. She couldn’t stop in time, and before she knew it, a sudden pain in her nape began growing steadily. The force behind the hit was so fierce that it temporarily immobilized Naomi, as her body slammed onto the floor.

Her body twitched as she couldn’t move a single muscle. The figure came closer to her, revealing its identity. It was a tall man, with short blond hair. His muscles were bulging, stretching through his tailored suite. He held something in his hand, it was a wooden bat, with some blood plastered on it.

“Surprise!” he yelled, as an eerie smile formed on his face, his tone menacingly.

Due to the pain Naomi felt from her neck, it wasn’t long before her body gave out, her consciousness slowly fading into the depths of void. The last thing that she saw was both Akemi and his unknown friend standing before her, laughing historically at her. This was indeed the moment Naomi realized she had made a big mistake.

As her unconscious body was left laying on the ground, Akemi continued to laugh, savoring every moment of it deep within his mind. He couldn’t honestly believe that stupid woman would fall for such a trap. Even a dog would notice something was fishy about him from the start, but this woman, and all the other ones he’s managed to fool, were all far to dumb to even notice it.

That’s why he despised them, all good for nothing trash who are easily fooled by good looks. Akemi continued to grin, as he imagined the face ‘Piggy’ would be making. He couldn’t get enough of it, as his legs started shaking in pleasure, his cheeks reddened a bit.

The thrills he was feeling were so heavy that he started dancing around, whilst his blond haired companion started wrecking the place. The sounds of glass shattering into many different pieces, the wooden tables all smashed to the ground were like music to Akemi’s ears.

He got in such a mood that he taped the poor woman onto a chair, and took a picture of it too.

“And send.” he said as he clicked on the sent button.

“What are we doing with her?” his companion asked, as he rested the bat on his shoulder. Akemi turned to face him, his smile wide and his teeth showing.

“We’ll take her of course, makes things much interesting.” the companion began to smile too, as he lifted Naomi onto his other shoulder, taking her with him.

As both of them left the house, Akemi was eagerly waiting for his little reunion with his long lost friend. After all, he had been patiently waiting for it for six whole years.

                                                                     …

We find ourselves back to present, as Akemi continued to stare at Akira. Akemi’s heart started pounding harder, completely excited that his old friend decided to come play with him. His smile widened, his teeth began showing.

Despite Akemi being in such a good mood, the same couldn’t be said of Akira, his expression was blackened, and his pupils were blank.

Silence befell the area, as none said a word to one another. There was no need to. After all, they were fully committed to fight each other until one wasn’t breathing anymore. Cold air brought by the wind began to pick up, causing the trees to shake.

Both continued to stare at each other until Akemi couldn’t hold himself together anymore, the excitement was too much to handle for him, and so he began his first move. He jumped towards Akira after picking up momentum, and threw a punch at him. It seemed that he was going to make contact, but at the very last second Akira dodged it by turning to his side.

As Akemi was gliding through the air completely defenseless, it was Akira’s turn to strike, by driving his knee into Akemi’s abdomen. As if Akira hadn’t done enough, he followed it up by striking Akemi’s face.

Akemi collided against the ground, he touched the place he was hit. “Good punch,” Akemi said, whilst smiling widely. “For a pig.” Akemi seemed to genuinely enjoy this. This only enraged Akira even more, as Akemi didn’t seem to be taking this seriously at all.

He began mindlessly sprinting towards Akemi, like a predator hunting his prey. When Akira finally reached Akemi, he began throwing a punch. However, Akemi already predicted that and moved out the way, little did he know that was what Akira was after all along. He retracted his arm, making place for his other arm, and went in for jab;

Akemi was completely bamboozled, as he quickly shielded himself with his arm, blocking the attack at the last moment. Because of this however, his lower body was left wide open. Seeing an opportunity, Akira quickly punched Akemi in the kidney.

A sudden pain began surging throughout Akemi’s body, as he gritted his teeth in anger, the smile he had fading away in the process. “Hey,” he said, his tone emotionless. “Don’t get full of yourself.” he followed it up by head-butting Akira. As Akira was pushed backwards slightly from the impact, Akemi wasted no second, as he jumped towards Akira, shoving his knee into Akira’s stomach.

Because of the immense force and Akemi’s bodyweight behind that knee, it caused Akira to fall backwards, hitting the ground with his back. With Akira now locked into place, Akemi smiled viciously, as he began storming Akira with punches.

Akira was in a deadlock, as he quickly shielded himself with his arms. As Akemi continued on his barrage, Akira made sure to dodge every punch thrown at him, silently waiting for the right moment to counterattack. Not long after that moment came, and Akira quickly capitalized, initiating his attack.

When Akemi was about to punch him again, Akira had grabbed his arm, holding on it tight. He then head-butted Akemi’s face. Akemi leaned backwards, creating another opening for Akira to exploit. This time he sat up straight, and punched Akemi in the cheek.

Akemi fell to his side, with Akira jumping on his stomach. Now it was Akemi’s turn, as Akira began punching Akemi mercilessly.

“Where is she?!” Akira said menacingly, as he kept on his barrage.

However, instead of answering Akemi began laughing loudly. This of course made Akira stop, he stared right at the monster with his left eye covered. Not long after, Akemi was done and took a deep breath.

“It’s already too late,” his right eye moved slightly passed him, in its reflection Akira noticed someone standing there. He was about to go on the defensive, but it was too late, as he felt something collide against his neck. The impact was so fierce that Akira fell forward, his entire body paralyzing.

As he couldn’t move a single muscle, the unexpected visitor revealed himself. It was that giant gorilla, the one who beat Akira to a pulp that one time. He held a wooden bat, it was stained with stollen blood.

As Akira slowly lost his consciousness, Akemi got close to him, and began whispering something in his ear. “Sleep well, Piggy.” the last thing Akira saw was that sickening smile of his, he closed his eyes shortly after. A final thought come to Akira before his consciousness fully drifted away.

It was a trap all along.

And with that, as every sense was slowly taken from him, his vision turning pitch black. It was only then that his consciousness fully drifted away into the empty void.
