Somehow someway I found myself in this situation.

To think the legendary unrivaled unmatched all powerful demon Lamia would be diligently taking orders from a lesser creature. [A human being]

To survive in the modern world one needs finances, to gain financing one needs work and so I found work.

I found work at the supernatural investigations Division the S.I.D for short.

 I Lamia the legendary unrivaled unmatched all powerful demon have a strong sense of duty, I obey my superiors, that’s my sense of duty.

 I perform every task perfectly if I am to play the role of subordinate I do so perfectly, even if that means I am to receive commands from a lesser creature, my sense of duty is too strong so strong that it has become akin to an iron clad rule that binds me, unlike humans I perform my tasks perfectly!

“I have a job that I reserved especially for the both of you; they’ve been a string of kidnappings around town this month as you know, the police aren’t having any luck so it might be something more suited to our expertise, towards that end I need you two to patrol around town and see if you can find anything...Or whatever.”

Long brown shaggy hair, deep brown eyes, a smoking pipe in the side of his mouth and an atrocious grin on his face, the chief of this organisation Orion a man regarded as a sort of demon himself.

Under different circumstances I`d completely eradicate this impudent human for so much as glancing my direction, but as it stands now I have no choice but to follow his commands, because of my strong sense of duty.

“Yes sir.” Will replied.

“Are we all clear Lamia..?” Orion said with a gratuitous grin on his face.

“Yes sir.” I sighed.

My partner and I made our way out, when Orion mentioned another menial task he reserved for us specifically.

“One other thing we heard from an informant of ours,” he paused for a moment to let out a huge puff of smoke, “that an arms trade between some major gangs might go down...Sure it`s not exactly supernatural but it does concern the welfare of this city, so try to look in to it okay.”

“Is that all?” Will inquired.

“Hmmm. Ahhhh. Yes!!” he snapped he`s fingers.

Snap!!

“William you`ll be in charge on this case, that`ll be all.”

He dictated as he shot me a frustrating grin and puffed up some smoke.

As we walked out I had an encounter with another nuisance.

“Heyyy guys!!” An annoyingly high pitched voice called out.

The source of the annoyance Chloe another human I hate, to be fair I hate all humans but I hate her the most.

“Did the Boss send you out on a job?”

“Patrol duty.” Will said with a sullen look.

“Cheer up William you can’t just start up at the top like us,” Chloe chuckled, “you gotta pay your dues doing the grunt work and what not, right Maribel?”

She winked at Maribel.

Maribel another lesser creature a mermaid to be more accurate and the partner to this annoying prick Chloe.

“I—I don’t know.” Maribel mumbled.

“You’re acting wayyy to shy c-mon…” She said as she gave Maribel giant pats on the back.

Chloe tilted her head in my direction, her cherry locks fluttered a bit as she did.

Chloe then shut her green eyes and said with triumphant aura.

“Lamia if you work hard like me maybe you`ll be promoted from rookie one day too.”

You have no Idea just how much I`ve had to endure you damned idiotic moron!

“Stop it Ms Chloe lady Lamia`s been working here longer than anyone else, she was the first pers—”

“--Don’t you think that’s enough fish girl.” I snapped at her. “My partner and I have work to do, so we will be on our way.”

“I-I`m terribly sorry lady Lamia please forgive me!” She bowed, her blue hair stretched over her head as she trembled.

I`ve made a mistake, me of all people, how could I. The fish girl may be a lesser creature, but right now I`m her subordinate as such I`m to show her some degree of respect.

“No I apologize I…was out of line.”

“That’s right you otter show your seniors some more respect.” Chloe ordered

Will chimed in “we`ve got patrol duty so we`ll pick this up later.”

“Oh yeah...Kayyy later guys.”

At last I`m finally rid of that nuisance, but patrolling the city in search of a kidnapper or kidnappers who’s faces we know not is proving to be quite the challenge… actually it’s vexing, frustrating, annoying and a complete waste of time!! 

Was that stupid chief’s goal to make us wander around aimlessly!!

We searched and searched but nothing.

“We`ve been searching for a while huh.” Will mentioned.

“Mhmm.” I agreed

“We`re pretty close to a popular cafe so I`ll go grab us something to snack on wait here.” He said as he walked away.

My partner William Parker I hate him. To be fair I hate all humans so it’s not as if I especially hate him. I especially hate Chloe.

I hate humans, I hate them all, I hate how they can be selfish, I hate how they can be cruel, I hate how they can be unforgiving, I hate how they can be selfless, I hate how they can be kind, and I hate how they can be loving.

I`ve met over a thousand humans, kind and evil alike I hate them all. My partner is someone kind he`ll stick his nose out for others, and lend a hand even when it`s not wanted, but there’s nothing special about that, nothing at all lots of humans are like that.

The surname I`m using is a borrowed one from a human partner who passed away many years ago, a truly kind person he was… I`ve long since forgotten the man`s face though.

“Hey.” A calm gentle voice almost like a warm summer breeze called out.

That uniform she`s a police officer, hmm purple—no pink hair is it dyed.

“Last time we met we didn’t get a chance to talk but I guess that was for the best.”

“Who are you?” I asked.

“I guess you could call me a wandering spirit.”

“A wandering spirit eh, that’s interesting…You sure look human to me.” I remarked.

Right in the middle of our conversation William returned with a slap mark on his face.

“I brought some ice crea…wait who`s the woman?”

“Don’t know.” I replied. 

“What happened to you?”

“I got slapped by a little girl.” He said as he handed me the cone.

“Hey you, it’s been a while so why don’t you come with me for a second.” She said as she grabbed Will by the hand dragging him away.

Before Will could protest she whispered in his ears, I couldn’t quite make out what she said.

“Hey Lamia take care of things, I`m gonna go with her for a bit.”

He expects me to handle the job on my own!! 

He is my superior so I`ll just bear with it for the sake of my sense of duty.

“Alright.” I responded.

I ended up patrolling the city all by myself!!

Doing the work all by myself!!

The damned sun is even setting!

I think I can see the sea from here...Never mind that, where could that human William be right now.

Heart shaped fireworks faintly lit up the sky.

A fireworks show this hour, the sun isn’t even completely set yet, humans are so annoying.

As I walked along the path frustrated at not finding the kidnappers nor any clues, three kids ran straight past me, the first a girl with long black hair in a school uniform, she was moving quite fast, the second was a girl with short blonde hair in a yellow track suit, she had an overly large smile on her face as she dragged the third girl, who could barely keep up and the third was a silver haired girl in a white sundress being dragged by the second girl, unlike the other two the third girl had a subtle…sad expression.

They stopped by a spot where the view of the sea was most clear.

The other two were fixed on the gorgeous view while the long black haired one was glaring my direction with vicious red eyes, so naturally I glared back at her, I am the legendary unrivaled unmatched all powerful demon Lamia!!

I may be wrong but I believe the long black haired girl is a dragon, the other two are humans. 

What are they thinking going out to play so late, haven’t they heard about the kidnappings?

Wait?

Something’s wrong!!

What even is that?!

Why did it take me so long to notice?!

I start to run but I`m not fast enough.

Those kids probably haven’t noticed it either!

I have to get them away from there before it`s too late!! 

Not because I care, but because it`s my duty to protect the people.

 I have a strong sense of duty.

“Get out of there!!” I yelled

I was too late…By the time I got to them it was too late! The thing was there I could sense it but I couldn’t see it. 

It finally reviled itself it was a shadow an empty husk the shadow of a shadow. 

The thing then swallowed all four of us up, before we could do anything, before we could even scream, not that I personally would’ve screamed, I am the legendary unrivaled unmatched all powerful demon Lamia.

“All I can see right now is darkness where am I?” A young girl’s voice speaks out.

"It appears we`re in a place far worse than hell." I replied with a grin.
