Chapter 10:

Angela's Outlandish Plan

Heirs of Hades and the Chthonic Academy

Angela yawned as she got up from her bed. Her pentagonal room was the same size as the others, except that hers looked like a five-star hotel room. The round bed had several pillows, each one more comfortable than the last. A gold chandelier glowed with electric lights and the walls were painted an eye-friendly shade of pink.

With just one stroke of the brush, her hair was perfect. She didn't spend more than five minutes getting ready and began her day.

As soon as she left her room she heard Mac and Mel fighting in the hall. This happened more and more as time went on. Angela remembered when she arrived in the underworld, she was just a child alone and all she had was the two of them.

The two of them were very close to each other, as sisters should be. Angela was jealous, even though she was treated well, she didn't have the same relationship as them. Today she was grateful not to be in that position. It seemed that one day things completely change.

Mac treated the two as if they were strangers in her home and Mel became more and more distant. She loved spending time with Hades, but he was very busy and they hardly ever got to see each other.

This prompted her to leave the palace and meet people outside. Donna, Manny and Momus were her first friends and she tried to be at peace with the situation she was living in. Deep in her heart she just wanted everyone to get along and she didn't understand why that was so hard.

It was then that an idea popped into her mind, calling Momus as soon as possible.

“Momus, what are you going to do today?’

“I was going to try to steal Charon's coins, but I'm open to suggestions.”

“I need your help. We need to do something about these girls.”

“There's so much hate there, I don't think this is easy.”

Angela agreed with her friend, but she couldn't just give up.

“They hate each other for external reasons. If they remember to see the other as individuals, they'll love each other again immediately.”

“Why do you speak of them in isolation? You are also their sister and deserve this love.”

She didn't have an answer for Momus. She always saw herself as an outsider and was never as close as they were. In this moment, she felt as the secondary character in her sisters' lives.

“One thing at a time. Let's make them if they like it again. Then we think about the rest.”

‘What a pity, you are much cooler than the two of them. Anyway, I'll meet you at the Styx in half an hour. I'll take Oizys too, she spends a lot of time at home.”

The young man hung up and Angela plucked up the courage to approach the duo.

“I know it's not a good time, but…”

She was cut off by a line from Mac.

“And now you. I don't have the patience for that now.”

The princess turned her back on the two of them and walked towards the hall.

“Wait! We have to do something about this. Let's go out and talk like people!”

The reply was heavy footsteps, now too far away to hear Angela's words. So she turned to Mel with hopes of starting her project little by little.

Mel didn't need to speak, her expression clearly said she didn't want to talk and went back to her room. Angela saw each one going in each direction, unable to do anything.

...

When she reached the bank of the Styx, he found Momus and Oizys waiting. She smiled at the sight of her companions.

“It's good that at least you managed to convince Oizys to come.”

“What? Momus said it was an order from Lord Hades” exclaimed Oizys in disappointment.

“That was a lie. You should already expect that from me.”

Angela saw that the situation here was not under control either. She approached Oizys and took his hands.

“You can go home if you want, but we'd love your company for today.”

She just nodded and followed the pair walking beside the mystical river.

“So no Mel and no Mac. Honestly I think it's better, they're not fun like you,” Momus said.

“Do not say that! They're cool... when they don't hate everything around them.”

“And when does this rare event happen?”

She didn't have the answer for Momus, lately it was just discord in her house. Before the conversation could continue, they received a message on their cell phones.

I will leave soon, if you want to see me, now is the time.

When they read Donna's message, the two left in a hurry, followed by Oizys, who was still quiet.

They found a large metallic ship in the river, with a skull as a figurehead. Dozens of muscular and armed women entered the vehicle. They took a while to find their companion among Keres tents, they only saw her because Manny was beside her, drawing attention with his wheelchair.

Before exchanging any words, she hugged the two friends who arrived.

“I will miss you.”

“Be careful up there,” Manny said.

“And what's the worst thing that can happen? If I die there I'll come back here!”

Donna laughed at her own joke as she noticed the presence of yet another companion.

“Is Oizys here? What an honor that you came to say goodbye to me.”

Oizys lowered her face in shame.

“I dragged her here,” Momus explained, “I was surprised she came, maybe the classes are helping.”

The sister showed an expression of anger and embarrassment at the same time, a feeling that was easily revealed on her face.

“You lied to me, of course I would come with orders from Lord Hades.”

The Ker who was preparing to leave just laughed at the presence of her companions.

“If all goes well, this war will be over soon and I'll come back here full of new souls. Then we will have a real celebration!”

Soon she had to say goodbye, getting on the boat with her work colleagues, and left promptly. The busy place was soon serene with only the four companions around.

“I'm going to miss her. No one starts a bar fight as well as she does,” Momus said with faking wistfulness.

"Do you guys fight in bars?” asked Oizys, expecting more from her brother.

“Never. But I imagine Donna would be very good at it. Well, let's go? We can ride Manny's cattle and see who can last the longest.”

The big Menoite passed with his wheelchair on top of Momus' foot, who complained of pain.

“The last time you guys did that, I got a hell of an earful. If we are going to mess with someone's job it will not be me.”

The other three looked at each other, realizing that none of them had any kind of jobs other than training at the academy.

“I think it's my time then, enjoy” said Oizys too low for the others to decipher all her words.

In an agile movement, Momus took her sister by the arm.

“No! We lost the tall woman in our group so we need you!”

The sister was stuck. Manny pulled Momus up and placed him on his shoulders. The little boy struggled uselessly trying to escape.

“We're going for a walk, if you want to come, feel free,” said Manny who took Momus followed by Angela.

Oizys saw the three of them walking away, wanting to go with them.

“Maybe next time…”
