Chapter 11:

Race through the city

Heirs of Hades and the Chthonic Academy

Before Mel and Mac could start the day fighting, Angela was wake. She was wearing light pink clothes for exercise.

She managed to eat some toast next to Hades before he had to go to work and left the palace, where she started to run. She knew she needed to do well at the gym and decided to train a little on her own, in addition to being able to be at peace with her thoughts for a change.

She ran through the streets of the city, passing alongside nymphs and other beings who followed to maintain order in the underworld. She had never run like that before and she was loving the experience. Anything to feel alive in the world of the dead.

After an hour of activity, she stopped in a park to rest, sitting on a bench and drinking from the water she carried. She thought she was seeing things when Thanatos passed in front of her, similarly dressed and also running.

“Tan!”

The young man turned around immediately and the two looked surprised.

“What are you doing here?” asked Thanatos.

“I came to exercise. Since we're going to the Olympics, I thought I'd better do my best for the underworld.”

Thanatos gave Angela a smile and sat down beside her. He was also tired and sweaty so he decided to take advantage of the break.

“It's good that someone else is taking this seriously,” commented the god.

“Don't say that, we all are.”

Angela was trying to be optimistic and received a challenging look from Thanatos that made her hesitate.

“They're just weird, but everyone's going to try their best in their own way,” she said, growing defensive.

“Oh, for real? Mel just wants to learn magic, Ask and Oizys seem uncomfortable just being there, my brother sleeps all the time and don't even get me started on Momus.”

She knew he wasn't entirely wrong.

“You didn't mention me or Mac.”

“Great, a third of our team is trying. That's what will make us win... I'm sorry, I don't want to complain, it's just that it's hard to be captain of this team if nobody wants to try. I told Lord Hades to change the team, but he wouldn't listen.”

“Change the team?”

“We don't have a Ker or a Menoite or a Lampad on the team. I know we're all divines in the team, but it's hard if half of those gods don't have experience.”

Angela thought about Thanato's problem, not knowing how to help him.

“I don't know how to deal with most people in our class, I can only promise that I'll do my best.”

Once again Angela managed to get a smile out of her companion and promptly stood up, holding her hand out to him.

“And we can take the opportunity to train together. If one encourages another, we will go much further!”

He took her hand and stood up, ready once more to run through the underground city for as long as their divine bodies could resist.

At the end of the day, Thanatos accompanied Angela back to the palace.

“That was good. Thanks.”

‘It was! We can do this every weekend, maybe little by little we can convince the rest to come with us.”

The god let out a laugh.

“You are funny. If you can get that I'll bring you something from the surface every time I go there.”

“We have a deal then.”

They held hands and said goodbye. Angela goes back to her room satisfied, ready to recover her energies for the next day.
