Emergency Call.

As every other day, Ryoichi was making his first round of the day first thing in the morning. As he passed through the game shop he was stopped by Toshiko, who was there despite his husband and the full time employee tending the store.

“Good morning Morita-san.”

“Good morning Abe-san. How is everything?” Asked her with a smile.

“Here good, but I heard my dad had some trouble in his restaurant, he asked me if you could go there as soon as possible.”

His face turned serious and said:

“I’ll go there immediately.”

“Thank you.”

He speeded up his pace and arrived at the restaurant in no time. There he mentioned to the lady at the front desk that the manager had called for a representative of the security to go there, and after seeing the seriousness in his eyes he let him in immediately.

Once he got to the manager’s office he knocked on the door and came in as soon as they told him to do so.

“Masao-sama, I heard from your daughter that you had a problem in your restaurant?”

“Indeed, my dear boy, and it’s severe. Take a seat please.” Said the man pointing at the seat in front of him.

He did so and in front of that seat there was a plate with a cover on. The manager then lifted the cover revealing a tower of about 5 pancakes, they were warm. Then he pulled out some maple syrup and a small piece of butter from underneath his desk.

Ryoichi had the same confused face that you did just now, and he tried to ask the manager what this was about but he interrupted him before he said anything.

“You see, my dear boy, these are not ordinary pancakes, they were specially made by my dear wife, they are extremely delicious, but they cannot be eaten just by just anyone, they had to be eaten by someone who happens to be celebrating their birthday on this very day.”
