Ito-san’s Thoughts.

“Eh, ah yeah, I am Furi Kachi, pleased to meet you.”

“It’s your first day here, right? How’s everything so far?”

“Ah, really well, Morita-san has explained everything really well, so far I don’t have any questions.”

“That’s the boss for you, he surely is the best of all of us.” He laughed a bit and took a sip of his drink. Then with a serious voice continued. “Hey Furi-san, do you know why there was a vacancy for this job?”

“Eh? Ah, no, not really, doesn’t the personnel change periodically in the company?”

“No, I have been here for about 6 months and I was the last one to incorporate out of all the people in the team. I’m not sure if it has always been like that or what, but this time it wasn’t because the previous guard was fired. The guy who you are replacing was supposedly linked with an attempted robbery that happened a few days ago.”

Furi looked at him scared and confused, of course this was new for him, and the fact that something so serious was going on in here made him feel uneasy.

“Of course, none of that has been confirmed, so it’s still just a possibility, however, I don’t believe the guy will ever work for the company again, even if he is proven innocent. After all that is some wild stuff to be related to isn’t it?” Toshio continued.

“Y-y-yeah, that’s certainly something you don’t hear too often about.” He hesitated before speaking again, but he wanted to know more about the details of what happened. “Excuse me Ito-san, do you mind telling me more about what happened?”

“It’s ok, after all you are now part of the team. Turns out that a man tried to pickpocket a woman in the food stands area, but before he could get away with it he was stopped by a guard, you know who it was? The same man you have spent the day with, Morita Ryoichi."

"That sounds really impressive."

"I wasn't around so I couldn't see it, but the people there said that he stood right in front of him and then pinned him to the floor and found what he tried to steal. Then, whilst he was waiting for the police to come for the man he interrogated him and he said that the whole situation was planned. Then the woman who was the victim also confirmed that, and now they both face charges for defamation of the mall. The case is almost closed, they just need to find the man that planned it all and then they'll procede."

"I see, so Morita-san really is something else, huh?" Asked Kachi, although he seemed impressed by what Toshi told him there was something else picking on him.

"He is, so much so that it makes you wonder if you are doing your job right."

"Exactly, that's just what I was thinking."

"Right? Ah, with him this job really is the easiest in the world." Then he took a sip of his drink and continued. "But, if I am honest with you, I don't like that. I know he is honest and a hard worker, but he is also human too. There must be something he is not paying enough attention to in his personal life if he is so focused on his job."

"You think so?"

"I'm almost sure of it, after all everyone has a lot of things happening in their lives, and you can't possibly manage to do everything perfectly."

"Yeah, you might be right."

"I would be happier if he relied on me from time to time you know, I might not do his job as well as himself, but… but helping him out a little would definitely be good for him, as things stand right now you could say that he is the only one doing any work around here. I don't like that, I know that I'm not the most qualified one, but it feels good to know that you are being useful don't you think?"

Kachi looked him in the eye and he saw that he meant every word he spoke, and somehow, those thoughts reached him as well.

"You are right, I think that if you are useful then the shifts would end sooner, and you won't feel like you're working much." He looked at his phone to know the time and realized that it was almost the time he and Ryoichi agreed. "Oh, it's almost time. Ito-san, thank you so much for everything, I'll see you around."

"Yeah, see you!"
