Chapter 15:

information about the village and the black cat

Maki

"The witch cleared her throat and began to tell Maki and Rina about the village of witches. 'The village of witches is a place where all witches live together. It's a place where magic flows freely, and every witch can practice her magic without any interference,' the witch explained. Maki and Rina listened intently as the witch continued, "The village is hidden and very hard to find. It can only be located by a witch who can sense magic." However, the witch's story was interrupted by a loud noise, as if a large boulder had fallen nearby. Rina got nervous and said, "I think we should check if it was just a normal rock." The witch nodded but she didn't move. "I'm pretty sure that there is no way a monster can get into my cave without being noticed." Maki and Rina looked at each other, feeling a little uneasy, but they decided to trust the witch and listen to her story. The witch continued, "As I was saying, the village of witches is a very special place. It's where all witches come together to learn and practice their magic. There are witches of all kinds, from healers to diviners to elemental witches who control the forces of nature."

Maki and Rina were fascinated by the idea of a village full of witches. They had never heard of such a place before. The witch noticed their curiosity and continued, "The village is protected by powerful spells and enchantments, so only those who are invited can enter. And even then, they must pass through several trials to prove their worthiness to join the community."

Both of them were intrigued by the trials and Rina asked, "What kind of trials do you have to pass?"

The witch smiled and replied, "It varies from person to person. Some may have to face their greatest fears, while others may have to use their magic to solve a difficult puzzle. But the purpose of the trials is not to eliminate the weak, but to help witches grow stronger and learn more about themselves and their magic."

Maki and Rina were both impressed by the idea of the trials, but they still couldn't shake off the feeling of unease from the loud noise they had heard earlier. The witch seemed to sense their discomfort and said, "Don't worry, my dears. This cave is protected by magic, and nothing can harm you here. But I understand your concern. Let me check outside and make sure everything is safe."

With that, the witch got up and walked towards the entrance of the cave, disappearing into the darkness. Maki and Rina waited anxiously, hoping that the witch would return soon and that everything was indeed safe. After some time had passed, the witch returned holding a black cat. "It was just this cat that pushed a stick and made the rock fall," the witch said. Maki and Rina breathed a sigh of relief.
