Chapter 36:

Mystery Rise: Arcturus

Heartless

More than a week ago… Jack, Seril, Carnelia, and Pablo reached the forest. “We actually haven’t tried it since the fog rose, so we’ve got no idea if it will work – if we can pass the boundary and get to the other side,” Carnelia said.

“And – that only works when someone somewhere out there believes about our existence,” Pablo responded. “Maybe it’s worth the try,” Seril said, then turned his head to Jack. “Again, Jackie, don’t even attempt.”

It took them a solid half an hour with unbroken focus, then was transported to the Human World. Jack was stunned when they disappeared, “It actually worked!” Pablo shouted the same line. As planned, Pablo and Carnelia kept going while Seril stayed behind. “Someone somewhere believes in our existence… even if just one, it will work.” Pablo muttered.

The sky was dim. The trees were malnourished. The air was cold. Signs of flooding and drought were as clear as water. “I’d wish a horse now”, “At this moment?” Carnelia asked, in which Pablo agreed. Rain seems it will be active after they heard a distant thunder. “We better put on our hoods. This will be an unbearably a long quest.”

A day passed after Deneb joined Jack. The two looked for the item at parts only where they walked to. Not a while after, Deneb found his knife he lost the day he met them. “So it was here! Well, I did find something that might help,” Jack turned to him when he heard Deneb talk. “…wasn’t that the knife you used to break free back then?” He asked, unsure.

Deneb realized it is that knife. And the possibilities the knife is the item is high because it marked huge scars onto Xadulo. “So are the feelings and memories in this thing are hatred and rage?” Deneb questioned, disbelieving it is. “Her feelings were a lot different from yours back then. What matters is what she stores, anyway,” Jack took the knife and placed it in his highly secured bag.

“For now, let’s go back to Agíen.” But right after they left the woods, merchants surrounded them. ‘They followed me?!’ Deneb thought. The one in fromt of them spoke, “Deneb Contts. Mysteriously disappeared after the men, including the chief, all died. Before the mass murder occurred, you returned with the Angelic demon as your friend. All methods of killing used is extra-ordinary and puzzling,” the merchant talking chuckled. “So far, this is the information we received from the remaining survivors. Hahaha, many believed the Angel kidnapped you and was worried about you… but to think you lived too free.”

‘This voice…’ Deneb found it rather familiar. The merchant took off his hood and exposed himself. Deneb was shocked. Too shocked he was speechless. “That look is gold!” the merchant laughed. “…Arcturus…”, “YOU’RE RIGHT! It’s me, the not vice-chief. At first, I wasn't agreed when you suddenly replacing my position, but when I was about to, you betrayed us…” Deneb absolutely hated the dude ever since he was young, and it shows. “But don’t worry! We forgive you. Just come back to us, and be our chief. We will even let your friends stay! Take my hand, and come back?”

“Yeah, right…” Deneb seems to be in a hard time himself. However, Jack believes he won’t betray Xadulo. “Oh, I know a way for you to be a better person, and how to make people like you,” Deneb said mockingly. “And what is that?”, “Die.” A message sent with loath.

“Dear me, don’t ignore my question! Will you come with me?” Arcturus started to get pissed. “And what if I don’t?”, “We’ll have to kill the Angel. Most harmless option in to simply capture her.”

“Heh.” Deneb laughed in victory. “Then I refuse! Afterall, the Demonic Angel you target, Xadulo, is Dead!”
