Shadow wolves

Alden could feel his arm hurting, he had just increased the weight of his hand to increase the power of his punch and it had hurt him. He was still getting to know his powers and thus he lacked control over them so he decided to be less reckless. He also didn't want to finish his energy too early as he wanted to take down the boss, he decided to take out the shadow wolves and raise his level so he could increase the number of puppets he could produce. Only by increasing his level could he increase the number of puppets he had. He was still at level 1 and thus he could only have 1 puppet for now but as he grew stronger the number would increase.

Killing wolves gathered him EXP so that was what he would do for now. He decided to go find the boss when he had raised his level enough. The boss was generally at the center of the dungeon and barely left. The closer Alden got to the center, the higher the level of wolves there. Monsters were generally categorized into 3 groups, common monsters, generals, and bosses. For more intelligent species like orcs or elves, there were more classes used to describe them.

Alden got up and walked towards the remains of the wolf which had a broken neck, and a partially smashed body, he held his hand over the wolf and a notification popped up:

[RETRIEVE MONSTER CORE AND OTHER USEFUL MATERIALS?]

Alden pressed the yes button and soon a light shined on the corpse and in his hand.

[SHADOW WOLF BEAST CORE ACQUIRED!]

[SHADOW WOLF CLAWS ACQUIRED!]

[SHADOW WOLF FUR ACQUIRED!]

[SHADOW WOLF TEETH ACQUIRED!]

[SHADOW WOLF FLESH ACQUIRED!]

Alden thereafter stored all he had in his inventory. Alden knew much about Rangers because his father was one, and his father had told him about many things. Thus he already had much information about dungeons and monsters, and he knew how to use the many functions of the system.

"I need a plan..." Alden thought, and suddenly he got another idea. "The shadow wolves like ambushing their prey and they do not fight in packs as they are better alone, it's pretty easy to create a plan against them."

Alden turned to his puppet and tried something, he tried to store the 2-meter-tall puppet in his inventory. A blue light lit up around the puppet and soon it disappeared. "I'll use their greatest strength against them, the essence of surprise."

Alden walked through the forest, slowly and cautiously as he waited for a shadow wolf to ambush him. Finally, when he was passing through a narrow space between 2 branches, a shadow wolf leaped out from the bush ahead of Alden.

"Gotcha," Mumbled Alden with a nervous smile. He waited until the last moment when the wolf was in midair and could not change direction before releasing the puppet from his inventory.

[PUPPET MASTERY ACTIVATED]

The puppet slammed its fist into the head of the wolf, its wooden hand making a large sound as it hit the wolf's head. The puppet didn't allow the wolf to recover and pinned it down with one hand before using its other fist to hammer punch the wolf. Soon the wolf was immobile and all Alden had to do was pick up his loot.

Like this, Alden continued, his puppet taking the wolves by surprise while they were still in midair and unable to change direction. There were a few that managed to attack Alden before he expected but all he had to do was dodge and wait for the wolves to jump a second time. Being an awakened human, his reflexes and physical capabilities surpassed those of a regular human, making him able to dodge the attacks of the wolves.

Alden soon harvested many resources, before he finally gained enough EXP. to level up. Alden watched the change occur before him.

"Yes, finally!" Alden said with a grin, he could finally get another puppet which would make his job easier, he wouldn't have to keep storing the puppets in inventory and releasing them, which was much too troublesome, and every time he used that method he was using himself as bait. That didn't feel very comfortable in Alden's opinion. "Create puppet."

A blue light emanated from Alden's body as a Puppet began forming. He had 76% energy so he could make 1 or 2 more puppets and save the rest of his energy for the boss fight.

Alden smiled as he stared at his 2 puppets, "Let's wreak some havoc."

He turned around and walked further into the forest, with his 2 puppets following him like 2 loyal soldiers.
