Chapter 17:

Witnesses

Bitter-Sweet

"You're really punctual, miss Thorne," said Mr. Young as he walked towards Tina who was standing outside the pharmacy.

"Yes, I had to be five minutes early," she said.

"Ryan dropped you?," Mr. Young asked.

"N-no. He did wanted to but I refused," she said.

"Oh, I see. Let's go," he said.

When they entered the pharmacy, Mr. Young's attire clearly stated he was a lawyer. Tina wore some casual winter clothes, so she looked like a common person.

"Miss Rott, I'm here as I said earlier on the phone," he said, as he walked towards the girl behind the counter.

She had blonde hair and pretty green eyes.

"Yes, everyone's here," she said.

All of the staff that was working there quickly assembled behind the counter as they gave Tina and Mr. Young stools to sit on. He had already talked to the manager about interrogating them.

"So, there was someone here yesterday who came to buy pills for flu. Am I right?," asked Mr. Young.

"Yes," said miss Rott, as she nodded.

"Another girl was here. She was here to buy some marijuana. Am I right?," he asked.

Miss Rott gulped.

"Am I right, miss Rott?," he asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Y-yes, you're right," she said, as she stuttered.

"Hmm, what was her name again? I'm sure you don't give harmful drugs like that to anyone without even knowing their name, right?," he asked.

"Elle. Her name's Amy Elle," she said.

"Amy Elle?!," Tina suddenly said.

"What's wrong, miss Thorne?," Mr. Young asked.

"Mr. Young, her name's not Amy. That's her sister's name!," Tina said.

"Oh my, this is so very twisted," he said, smirking.

"Why did you give her those drugs, miss Rott?," Mr. Young asked, resuming conversation.

"Actually, she wanted to work here but we couldn't give her a job as she was just fourteen years old. She kept coming for two days but later she stopped coming. I later found out that she started working with some gang or something," she said.

"Which gang?," Mr. Young asked.

"I don't know. I just heard that Black Monday had gotten a new member and that they were the one responsible for drug supply," she said.

"Black Monday?," Tina asked.

"Miss Thorne, that's a gang I'm really familiar with. I can't believe your housemate got involved with them," Mr. Young answered, "So, this store gets them drugs? What else can you tell me, miss Rott?".

"Uh, actually, I want to say something," someone standing behind two people said.

He stepped forward. He wore an oversized jacket and had a cap on.

"I'm Pedro Bowling. I-uh, I saw miss Elle yesterday when I was coming in to work my shift. She was fighting someone in the back alley I passed by," he said.

"That would be miss Justin," Mr. Young said.

"The girl told her to come home. But she refused and threw insults at her. I'm pretty sure she doesn't wanna go back to living with that girl and the others," he said.

"Do you have any idea why, Pedro?," miss Rott asked her coworker.

"I've talked to her once or twice. I think she wants to leave this district," he said.

"What?!," everyone said in unison.

"Y-yeah, that's true. The way she talked about this district, it clearly showed that she had a deep hatred or sadness about this place and she thinks that she'll find happiness in some other district," he said.

"That's totally bullshit! She can travel to the other districts without even doing this drugs thing," Tina said.

"Miss Thorne, I'm pretty sure your friend here is broke and is not mentally at peace. She's restless. I could tell this the moment you guys started talking about her at your house," Mr. Young said.

"Well, miss Rott, mister Bowling, and everyone else, thank you for your time," Mr. Young said, as he got up.

"Wait!," miss Rott said,

"She told me she would be leaving district four very soon."

"What?!," Tina said.

"Yes, she said that yesterday," miss Rott said.

"Did she say when?," she asked.

"Christmas eve, she said," miss Rott said.

"Did she say which district she was going to?," she asked.

"District three or six, she said," she answered, "But I think you should first talk to her parents. She always said that her older sister left home with her boyfriend to live in one of these districts. She said she wanted to be like her."

"Okay, thank you," Tina said.
