Chapter 120:

Chapter 120 Shocking Truth

Content of the Magic Box

Stan and Ben had wicked grins plastered on their faces as they mercilessly beat David. They took turns pummeling him, all the while taunting and belittling him. "Well, buddy, how does it feel to abide by rules?" Stan sneered. "Feels great, right? Don't worry, we have plenty more where that came from."

Despite the pain, David stood there with his hands wide open, shielding the woman from the men. He grunted with each hit he took, his determination to protect the woman and endure the beating unwavering.

Meanwhile, Suzuka stood idly by, watching the gruesome scene unfold before her. She couldn't help but feel a deep sense of shame and disappointment. After all, she was a member of the same guild as David, who was now tarnishing their reputation with his reckless and foolish behavior.

The two men got bored quickly and Stan pulled out a dagger, showing it to David. "Well, buddy. It was fun beating you up, it really was but I think it's time to end this."

David's heart raced as he saw the glint of the weapon being drawn. Fear coursed through him as he realized the danger that he and the woman he was trying to protect were in. He turned to her with a desperate expression and urged her to run, his voice thick with emotion.

"Please run," he pleaded, "I won't be able to keep them away any longer. Save yourself."

The woman opened her mouth to protest, but before she could say anything, a slow clap echoed through the street. Ben and Stan both turned their heads to see a figure approaching them, heels clicking against the pavement with each step.

Suzuka couldn't bear to watch any longer. As Suzuka approached, she greeted the group, "Well hello there, fellow adventurers." However, her tone quickly shifted as she addressed them, "You sure did a number on my guild mate. Are you sure about using that dagger? I strongly advise you to reconsider."

Ben's face twisted with irritation and annoyance as he pointed his dagger at her, demanding, "And who the hell are you supposed to be, huh?"

Fortunately, Stan intervened before the situation escalated further. He grabbed Ben's arm and lowered it, trying to calm his friend down, "Bro! Stop! That's Helen, bro! The one from the coliseum who beat Maximus, and Leonidas, and held her own against the Grand himself. She's the one I've been talking about the other day."

As soon as David caught a glimpse of Suzuka, a wave of hope and relief flooded over him, and his face lit up with a smile. He had known Suzuka to be a powerful fighter, and he couldn't help but feel like the other adventurers were mere ants in comparison.

With Suzuka on their side, David was certain that everything would be alright. He had complete faith in her abilities. He was confident that she would rescue them from the clutches of the evil adventurers.

David couldn't help but feel grateful for Suzuka's presence. He knew that her unwavering spirit would see them through this ordeal. He could almost feel the weight of the world being lifted off his shoulders as Suzuka stepped forward.

At that moment, David knew that he was in good hands, and he felt a sense of peace and tranquility wash over him. He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and allowed himself to relax, confident that Suzuka would lead them to safety.

Suzuka couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction as she watched Ben's hostile demeanor dissolve. It was clear that her reputation preceded her. However, she knew better than to let her guard down. She kept a watchful eye on Ben as she continued to speak, "I understand that tensions are high, but I would like to ask you to stop. My guild mate embarrassed himself enough already, It pains me to see our guild name being dragged through the dirt like this."

Ben remained unconvinced and posed a question, "Oh yeah? And what exactly will you do if we refuse to comply with your advice, hmmm? Will you stand still as this fool did and get beat up too?"

Suzuka met Ben's gaze without flinching and replied, "I will simply walk away. As I mentioned earlier, I am only advising you. It's up to you whether or not to act on my suggestions. I have no personal stake in this, and I don't care what you do with him. Just make sure to dispose of the body so there is no trace left behind. Make at least look like he died fighting monsters and not died in an alley like some trash."

Suzuka's response was calm and collected, suggesting that she was neither intimidated nor threatened by Ben's skepticism. After hearing her words David's heart sank and his hope disappeared. He realized that she is not going to lift a finger to help him.

The woman David was trying to protect with his life couldn't take it anymore, she had finally reached her breaking point. Frustration and anger boiled inside her until it finally erupted in a shouting fit. "What is wrong with you people?" she yelled, her voice echoing in the alley. "Are you all idiots? Enough is enough, stop with this stupid charade!"

Her gaze flicked over to Ben and Stan, who stared at her in shock. "You two! Dum and Dummer!" she continued, her eyes narrowing. "I was going to go with you two idiots. There was no need for this stupid scene. And I will still go, but it goes without saying that you two fools are paying for everything. You better shake that coin pouch."

Ben and Stan exchanged a quick, confused glance before nodding obediently. "Yes," they replied meekly, still reeling from the woman's outburst.

The woman shifted her gaze towards David, who was kneeling on the ground, looking battered and bruised. With a look of utter disgust burning in her eyes, she spoke in a tone laced with anger and disappointment, "And you! What kind of a pathetic excuse for a man are you? If you have any sense of self-respect, clench that fist and use it. Stop allowing yourself to be beaten up like this."

Her words were laced with frustration as she continued, "If you want to get beat up, go to a local bar and start fighting there. Damn, loser."

After saying those words, she swiftly turned on her heel and walked away with two adventurers clinging onto their arms, leaving David and Suzuka standing in the alleyway. David stood there, unable to believe what had just happened.

Suzuka's reaction to the situation was quite enjoyable. While David appeared to be struggling, she took it all in stride. With a slight chuckle, she turned to David and bluntly expressed her opinion.

"Well, you're a fucking idiot," Suzuka said, her voice laced with sarcasm. "I didn't expect any less from you. But what am I kidding, we're talking about you here. Do you have some kind of magical power that makes you a screw-up, or are you just that special?"

She paused for a moment, not really expecting an answer from David. "Don't bother answering, I know the answer - you're both," she continued. "But, whatever, get your butt up. Let's get out of here."

David nodded, still a bit stunned. He couldn't believe what had just happened. Despite feeling annoyed by David's behavior, Suzuka still offered to help him up and walked him to the nearest bench to sit down. As they both settled onto the bench, David expressed his disbelief at how the woman he tried to help had treated him.

Suzuka, displaying an air of confidence and authority, sat on the bench with an alpha demeanor, exuding a sense of dominant energy. With a Chad-like tone in her voice, she addressed David, "What did you expect to happen? Are you under the impression that you're some kind of prince on a white horse? That you can swoop in and save a damsel in distress and she will fall madly in love with you? Wake up from your delusions, women don't need your protection. Don't be a simp or a foot towel. Why can't you learn from Larry's example? He has a way with words."

David's expression turned to one of annoyance as he growled, "Fuck Larry!" This caused Suzuka to nearly fall off the bench in shock. She grabbed David's shirt and pulled him closer to her face, demanding, "What did you just say you ungrateful shit? Did my ears deceive me? Did you just say 'fuck Larry'? You ungrateful son of a bitch!"

She shook David a few times before continuing to speak, "Now, I don't know what it is between you two but from what I can see, Larry was carrying your stupid ass on his back since I met you two. If not him you would be long dead in some ditch or better, as a goblin play toy bitch."

David lowered his head and said, "Sorry, your right. It's just that Larry makes it look so effortless, he doesn't even try. And I'm doing my best and still fail horribly. It's not fair."

Suzuka, with a tone of indifference, responded, "Welcome to the real world, life is tough, nothing is fair, and occasionally you will get fucked. So deal with it. Now, I am going to the guild, have fun sitting here."

Suzuka enjoyed her own amusement while David rose from the bench with a determined expression. "I can't afford to sit around here," he declared, "I'm heading to the guild too. I'm meeting Larry later on, also don't worry about my injuries, there's no need to be. I'm perfectly fine. The attackers didn't hit me too hard - just a few bruises and some mild pain."

Upon hearing David's words, Suzuka's expression turned sour, as if she had just bitten into a sour lemon. "Eww! Why would I care about your well-being? Go away already! Shoo, shoo!"

David's voice turned sad as he replied, "Why are you so cruel to me? Why do all the women treat me poorly?"

Suzuka replied bluntly, "It's because you're what women call 'a nice guy'. And trust me, women don't need a 'nice guy.'"

David couldn't help but wonder what he had done wrong. He had always tried to be a kind and caring person, but for some reason, it seemed to be pushing people away. He couldn't understand and asked, " Why being a 'nice guy' is a bad thing."

"It's because women need a challenge, something to strive for. Being a nice guy just makes you a loyal servant, always willing to jump at their every beck and call. Women don't want that, they want someone who will push their buttons, someone who will be unpredictable and exciting. Bad guys who are rude, violent, and have drinking problems, are the ones who get the girls."

David was completely surprised by Suzuka's explanation. "That makes no sense."

In a dismissive tone, Suzuka retorted, "You make no sense, you asked I answered. Now, shut up, and let's go to the guild, if you're coming, start walking. I have wasted more time than I wanted, I got business there."
