Chapter 2:

Titles

The 'narrator' and the 'writer'

In the silent rows of bookshelves, the 'writer' took a look at each book in random order.

"Les Misérables. Frankenstein. Don Quijite de la Mancha. Mad Hatter. Hamlet." She read out loud each of the titles as she inhales before reading the next one. "The Misfit of Demon King Academy: History's Strongest Demon King Reincarnates and Goes to School with His Descendants. Why the heck this title so long!"

"Perhaps it helps with the marketing. The title is what the public read first before picking a book, isn’t it? If the title catches their interest then they are more likely to read it." The 'narrator' suggested.

"I suppose so. That would be my second condition after the book cover. I honestly prefer picture books with less texts." The 'writer' said as she pulled out a picture book from the shelf. "The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Now that I think about it. I guess the title resumes the story plot in a few words, does it not? But how about the chapters? Sometime I give a title without thinking but sometime I think about what name I could give it that would make it a pattern out make it bear a meaning that would sit there chapter and maybe the other chapters.

For example. Do you remember the first chapters in Cursed Fir Life?"

"You mean the only chapters you have published?"

"Shuch up! Either way. When it was first supposed to be short scary stories, I made them 2 chapters long. The first one’s content would be the discovery of the curse and the mystery of the curse’s effect. Then the second one’s content would be the interaction of either dealing with, or being killed by the curse, and the wrap up with the curse.

Since the first one is about the curse itself, I had titled the chapter Cursed Number.  It may be a bit of spoiler but you never know what you can get from it. Though, I have changed it now to Cursed Contact and I bet no one would guess what is the actual curse! Heeheehee!" She laughes wickedly being her hand.

"Probably because barely anyone reads it." The 'narrator' responded.

"Oi! To be fair, I have removed it from the site’s index and am re-writing it right now! I don’t even know if it’s the right site for publishing stories but I’m used to posting my stories there."

"Let’s hope you finish writing at least one chapter so you can publish it here. Maybe new viewers and comments will give you more motivation to work. Reading books is entertaining but being involved in it is much more fun."

"It’s not like you’re really going into my story anyways. I remind you that it is a doll that you send in your place because you are physically bound to this timeless reading room."

"I disagree. I remind you that a certain someone will pay me a visit once your story and its world has been settled." He responds with a grin.

"Right. Forgot about that one since I didn’t bite down that idea.

Either way! Back to the topic. The first one was about the curse. The second is dealing with the curse. So I had titled it Answered Call. The cursed was related to a call. So having it answered suits the theme of having solved something.

Now that I think about it. I’ve always wanted to speak to someone else about the kind of details because I feel proud for the efforts I’ve and because no one or at least, no one mentions that they have noticed it. I’m glad I can at least tell it you."

"Even if I cannot give you a satisfying reply?"

"Well, what can I do? You’re a part of my imagination. It’s kinda difficult to give myself opinions about my own opinions."

"Yes. But mind you that despite having beer made it off your imagination, my perspective and opinions can still be different from yours."

"Then what do you think?"

"I’ll give you an E for effort." The ‘narrator' responds jokingly.

"Fudge you! But either way. I decided that the pattern would go on, Cursed something for part 1 of the specific curse’s story, and a title that has something to do with the theme of the curse for part 2 of it.

Though, I wonder if I don’t think I can keep the pattern going since there will and might be some chapter in which there might be any active curse to victimize someone. I mean, it is the story of Cho, after all. Asides from being targeted and running from curses, she also has her school life and job to work at. Aaaaaand—! A love life!" The girl giggles like a nosy woman who ifs thirsty for gossips.

"I ain’t gossiping nothing! I just Adooooore~! Love stories!

That is all for the talk of titles. Thank you for listening and I will see you…when I do. Bye!"

The 'writer' left as the 'narrator' remains. He picks a book from one of these unending shelves as the space shortens, the room became smaller as the man exits through the door.

*Fireplace Cackling*

Back to his cozy reading room, he sits back on his chair by the hearth as he fades into a silhouette.
