The Elles

Bitter-Sweet

"Are you sure they're gonna talk to us?," Ryan asked Tina, who was sitting in front with him.

Meanwhile, Angelina and Benedict were in the back, as they drove to the Elles' house.

"I'm pretty sure they will," she said. Ryan nodded.

They knocked on the door. It was opened by Mrs. Elle. She had the same blonde hair as Alethea, with the same blue eyes.

"Hello, Mrs. Elle," Tina said.

"Oh, Tina, Angelina and Benedict! How are you girls? Come in," she said. So they stepped inside.

"Who is this guy with you, Tina?," she asked, pointing at Ryan.

"Hello, Mrs. Elle. I'm Ryan Verlice. I'm their friend. Nice to meet you," he said. Mrs. Elle nodded.

"Oh, who do we have here?," someone said from the inside.

"Aliza! How are you?," Tina said, as she quickly hugged Aliza, Alethea's younger sister.

She had blonde hair just like her mother and older sister and she was short.

"You've gotten so big since we last saw you!," Benedict said.

Aliza laughed.

"Why are you here, though?," Mrs. Elle asked them, later when they sat down on the couch in front of the fireplace.

"Are you here to spend Christmas eve with us?!," asked Adleen, the youngest daughter of the Elle family.

"N-no, we're not here for that. We're here to tell you something," Tina said.

"Oh. What is it then, girls?," Mrs. Elle asked.

"Actually, your daughter's become a thug. We're here to tell you that," Angelina said, in a matter of fact way.

"Oh. I thought so," Mrs. Elle said.

"What?! You knew?," Benny asked.

"Yes, but I only had some hints of what she wanted to do. But, now that you're here and you've clarified it, I think it's actually true," Mrs. Elle said.

"Tell us everything, please. We need to know," Ryan said.

"Amy, my eldest daughter, when she started dating John Mason, I knew something wasn't right. She was always worried about him because her boyfriend was always so down in the dumps and ever since his brother Paul died, he absolutely lost all hope of life. Amy wanted to end his sadness.

When his brother died in district six, he said he wanted to get his body back to district four, where he grew up. Amy knew that if she let John go alone, he'd go crazy because John had started drinking a lot ever since Paul died. What Amy didn't know was that John had joined Black Monday. John wasn't poor at all but retrieving a body from district six requires everything you've ever earned. He joined that cursed organization because he was a bit short on money to go to district six with Amy by his side.

When Alethea found out that her sister was involved in this, she couldn't keep her calm. Ever since Amy started dating John, she had become really restless and kept saying that Amy wasn't safe with John. I always knew she'd run away from home. She always said that she felt like she had to become Amy's guardian angel, protecting her from everything.

Alethea is a really hot headed girl and when she found out that John had started drinking alcohol because he felt like his world was falling apart, she wanted to save Amy from him. She wanted Amy to stay away from him because she thought he'd end up hurting her in his drunk state. But Amy has always told me that John doesn't act like a crazy drunk at all so she's safe with him. But Alethea, she wants to kill John. I don't why but she's so crazy," Mrs. Elle said, her voice breaking at the end. She was crying.

"Please don't cry, Mrs. Elle! Everything will be ok," Benny said.

Tina quickly went to get a glass of water.

Angelina took a deep breath and continued the conversation.

"Mrs. Elle, your daughter's joined Black Monday. Did you know that?," she asked.

"She said she'd go to any extent to kill John. I'm sure she's joined Black Monday," she said.

"Bubble always used to say that she wanted to be like Mi-Mi," Adleen said, quietly.

"What did she used to say? Do you remember that?," Tina asked, as she came back with the water.

"She said that Mi-Mi was cool and she wanted to become like her. She said that she's always idolized Mi-Mi because of everything she did. Mi-Mi was good at things but Bubble specifically said that Mi-Mi should never date anyone because she was too good for anyone," Aliza said.

"So, Alethea is doing all of this because she thinks that John will harm your sister?!," Ryan asked.

"Yes, that's how it is," Aliza said.

"Well, that's bullshit! Mrs. Elle, sorry for saying this but your daughter is a crazy freak!," Angelina said.

"I know that, Angelina. I know that very well. That is why I said to her that we won't miss her when she left home. It feels so peaceful now that she's not here," Mrs. Elle said.

"Is there something else we need to know?," Ryan asked.

"She has narcolepsy. Alethea has narcolepsy," Mrs. Elle said.

"What?! I never noticed," Tina said.

"Yes, that is the only thing she could never change about herself. I only have one thing to say. Please, please save Amy! I'm begging you!," Mrs. Elle said, joining her hands.

"You don't have to say that. We're gonna do that anyway. We'll save Amy and Alethea, both," Angelina said, with a straight face and got up.

"Let's leave," she said, heading towards the door. They got up.

"Wait!," Adleen said. They looked at her in confusion. "Tell Bubble she's still Adleen's favorite sister! Tell her she'll love her forever no matter how much of a bad person she becomes. Even more than Mi-Mi!," she said. They were taken aback by the little girl's words. Tina nodded.

"We will. Don't worry, Adleen," she said to her.
