Chapter 23:

District three

Bitter-Sweet

Before Tina, Benedict, Angelina and Ryan had left for Alethea's parent's house, Kayla, Aroma and Mr. Young left for district three in Mr. Young's car. He had come to their house at six in the morning and they had left after having breakfast.

They crossed the commerical area and were at the border of district three. It was very crowded and they were in a line.

When it was there turn, Mr. Young let down the window.

"ID," the officer said.

"Luke Young, lawyer," Mr. Young said. The officer raised his eyebrows at the other girls.

"I'm Gina Temples," said Kayla, the girl with black short hair which had pink dyed hair in-between them but were black at the ends, the roots and the bangs, which were always tied in a ponytail. She had purple eyes with under eye bags for a reason unknown. She wore a smug look, as usual. She always wore a white dangle earring that had two hearts. She wore a pink crop top that had fluffy half sleeves with yellow moon patterns and a deep sweetheart neckline. She wore a black collared, oversized, long sleeved crop top under the pink top, leaving a button from the top open. She wore a black miniskirt with a white statement belt with white long net socks with black details, that reached the thighs with pink-black knee length boots that had high white heels to them.

"I'm Ariel Mintz," said Aroma, who wore a sky blue colored spaghetti strap short dress with a pink jacket with white details, high white socks with pink details, blue high boots, which were a bit shorter in length than her socks which covered almost all of her calf muscles. The officer nodded. They drove forward.

The snow covered all of the region. There was white fluffy snow everywhere. But, that didn't stop the visitors from district four to enter district three.

They had left at six thirty in the morning and it was one in the afternoon now. It had taken a lot of time to cross the border, considering the districts were made up of so many states.

When they were inside district three, there was a mart there that indicated that the commercial area was ahead.

"Do you guys want to buy anything?," Mr. Young asked.

"No, we're fine," Kayla said. He nodded and drove ahead.

They arrived at a hotel called Edwardo's Palace. They entered. They had no bags with them, though.

"Hello. We have a reservation for a villa," Mr. Young said to the receptionist.

"What's your name?," she asked.

"Luke Young," he said.

"Okay. Let me check," she said. They waited.

"Oh, here it is. Mr. Young, your villa is villa number twenty three. Here's the key," the receptionist said, and handed him a key.

He took it from her and the girls followed him.

"Who booked the villa? Mr. Verlice?," Aroma asked.

"Yes, miss Nash. He booked it for us. We have a reservation at a restaurant in the evening. If someone asks anything, you're going to say that you two are my friends' children," Mr. Young said.

They nodded.

They entered their villa and it was marvellous. It was a three bedroom villa that was absolutely gorgeous.

"You can rest for a while. Make sure you look rich at dinner," Mr. Young said.

"Rich? Why?," Kayla asked.

"Miss Justin, we're gonna be meeting a friend of Mr. Verlice. Plus, we'll be at the most expensive restaurant in district three. That is why you have to look rich," he said.

They nodded.

"Oh my God! You look so pretty!!!," Kayla squealed as Aroma came out of her room, wearing a full sleeved little black dress with black heels. She had black pins in her hair.

"T-thank you! You look beautiful, too," she said to Kayla, who wore a strapless black dress with golden heels. Her hair were tied in the same ponytail as earlier.

"Of course, I look beautiful!," she said, laughing.

"Are you girls done?," said Mr. Young, as he came out of his room.

He wore a black suit. His hair were finally combed properly. He was putting on a watch on his wrist.

"Mr. Young, you look fine as hell!," Kayla said.

"Oh, thank you, miss Justin. You two look beautiful as well," he said.

"Let's go," he said and they followed him outside into the dark snowy night.

They had their jackets with them, too.

When they arrived at the restaurant, the Golden Rose, a waiter showed them to their table. Their table was in the private section, where there was no one.

"Mr. Verlice sure is rich," said Kayla, as she admired the place.

Soon, someone else entered and sat next to Mr. Young.

"Luke, I guess?," he asked.

"Yes, that's me," Mr. Young said.

"Brad, Brad Simmons. Isaiah told me about you," he said.

"You two must be Gina and Ariel," Brad said.

"Those are just aliases. Our real names are-," Aroma said but was interrupted by Brad.

"Don't! They have ears everywhere," he said.

Aroma gulped.

"Who have ears everywhere?!," Kayla asked.

"You know who, Gina. Black Monday, the boss of the US," Brad said.

A sweet looking guy came inside.

"Good evening! I'm Niccolo Mancini. I'm the head chef. I was told to cook for you specifically by Mr. Verlice. The first course will be here in a while. We're bringing in the starters now," he said.

He had a tall stature and a slim build. He had olive skin, which naturally glowed. He had hazel eyes. He had a pointy nose, with high cheekbones and a sharp jawline. He had brown hair. He was no more than sixteen of age.

"Thank you, chef Mancini. We look forward to the good food," Brad said.

The chef smiled and left. His eyes slightly lingered towards Aroma as he turned around to leave. She blushed as she realized he looked at her.

The starters came in and they started eating. Soon, the first course was there, too, followed by the second and third, later on.

"I heard you're after the new member, right? You don't need to explain anything. I was told everything. I even know that your friends from district four will be at district six by tomorrow," Brad said.

"What?! We didn't know that!," Kayla said.

"You didn't check the group chat. Did you, Gina?," Mr. Young said.

"So, she's there?!," Kayla asked.

"She is most certainly in district six," he said.

"So, we'll be leaving, too?," Aroma asked.

"No, Ariel. You're not gonna leave. You'll be here," Brad said.

"What?! Why?," she asked.

"Ariel, this new member is doing this for her sister's happiness. She wants her to be happy and she thinks that John can't do that, right? But, that's not totally true," Brad said.

"I'm sure there is something else in this, too. She won't go that far for someone. There's definitely something that we don't know of. There's something hidden from us!," Aroma said.

"There is, Ariel. There definitely is. Only Mr. Verlice knows what it is, though. We'll know tomorrow when your friends are with him in district six. You'll have to wait," Brad said.

"What's going to happen?," Kayla asked.

"Gina, Black Monday's leader is going to cause a great panic in the districts. This new member is at the core of his plan. He has something up his sleeve and your friend is his trump card," he said.

"Mr. Verlice called me. He told me everything he could find from district six. He told me to not tell you right now. You'll find out tomorrow," Mr. Young said.

"But, why?!," Kayla asked.

"This is enough information for you. Thank you for coming. Enjoy your stay at the villa. Good night!," Brad said, as he got up to leave.

"You can't leave us hanging on a string like this!," Aroma said.

"Ariel, you don't want to die. Do you? If you want to be safe, then it's better that you let time reveal things to you," Brad said and left the room.

"Brad!," Kayla yelled, as she got up.

"Stop! You can't go after him. You don't know what will happen if you try to tail him!," Mr. Young said. Kayla scoffed.

"God, I hate this place!," she said.

"What did he mean by Black Monday having ears everywhere?," Aroma asked, worried.

"I don't know, Ariel. I'm just a lawyer stuck with you," Mr. Young said. Aroma sighed.
