Chapter 136:

New Bet

When they finally got off the boats, everyone felt a little woozy. The things were shaking loosely on the water the whole time even with how they were guided, and the brightness of the outside park hurt their eyes, adding to the breif disorientation.

“That was great!” Cheered Saint through the loud exterior atmosphere. Katie laughed with him as the two continued to get along swimmingly.

“It was! I should go on more rides like that.”

“You can leave me behind for those…” Frankie groaned at her travel partner with a slight smile.

“Why? Did you and Cheryl not get along?”

“No! No, that was all fine. Thanks for riding with me, Cheryl. I know you were probably worried about your brother.”

Cheryl nodded, her odd response throwing everyone but the older Pop sister off. Her eyes were cold, easily making Frankie shiver.

“I kept Saint very safe, don’t worry!”

“She wouldn’t hurt a fly.” Frankie tried to calm the gunslinger, knowing her sister’s words weren’t gonna be doing the trick anytime soon. “Really. Well- I mean, I’ve seen her slap some guys before, but- that was all justified.”

“Relax. I’m not afraid of your sister.” Frankie noticed Cheryl was actually grinning ever-so slightly. It wasn’t that she was mad before, she realized. The gaze she possessed just kinda looked like that. She thought about complimenting the intimidating girl, but Frankie wondered if anyone would really appreciate hearing how much fear they struck into the hearts of others. She’d had enough interaction for one day, anyway. What more could she gain from this…?

Nobody was sure if the two groups were going to part ways, or if they’d stick together a little longer. All seemed forgiven, their problems resolved.

And then, a proposal was made.

“Frankie.” Cheryl suddenly addressed.

“Uh- yeah?” Lost in her thoughts, the girl snapped back to attention.

“Let’s say you… still want your tokens back. How’s about I return them… if you let me shoot against you one more time.”

“W-what?” The parkgoer’s mind raced back to being utterly trounced last night. There’s no way she could…

“I’ll take some handicaps, of course. And you don’t owe me a damn thing in return if I win. Just… shoot with me, one more time. I want to. Then maybe you can earn what I felt like giving you back to you anyway. That way, you don’t have to feel so bad about it.”

She checked into Cheryl’s eyes again. She got it now. They weren’t cold- they were intense. The shooter was as passionate about her sport as her sister was about parks, and Frankie’d be damned if was gonna let her down.

“Sorry.” She grinned, still taking Cheryl’s hand in a firm shake. “Take all the handicaps you want, I’ll take you- but not without betting something myself.” Cheryl and Katie were equally taken aback when she stole the bag from her sister’s hands. “Twenty tokens- all I’ve got left, if you win. And to match the thirty you’re offering… you can have any one thing I own in addition to that.”

“You haven’t learned a thing, have you?”

“We’ll… I’m used to going all in.” Frankie bragged.

“Alright.” Cheryl smirked, looking inside the bag. “If I win, I want this.”

She reveled a little in Frankie’s dumbfounded expression as she pulled out the sisters’ vital wad of dollar bills.
