Chapter 2:

Chapter 2: Talk with my savior

Let's enjoy this other world

"Alright! I've decided!" Sylnitta looked up, tying her platinum hairs in a ponytail, revealing her pointy ears. "I will teach you about this world!"

"Um... teach me?"

"If I left you to run wild, you might just run into some monster and die instantly. Plus there are many things different from your world, I bet."

"Well, that's correct. We don't have those squirels or bears like that. And elves appear only in fiction," I nodded to her words.

"With what should we start though... hmm... gimme your hands for a sec," she outstreched her hands and had her palms face upwards.

"Okay," I complied and placed my hands on hers. Her skin was suprisingly smooth, even though they looked so sturdy and refined.

"Hmm... Oh? That's interesting."

"What is it?"

"Humans usually can't use magic so I'm just a little surprised that you can use it."

"I can?"

"Yeah, I can feel water elements, wind elements and suprisingly a lot of earth elements. Maybe this is your disposition as someone from another world? Hmm... alright, let's do that then."

"That?"

Looking at her wolfish smile, I got goosebumps all over my back.

"Sit down and close your eyes my dear pupil. I shall show you the wonders of magic."

When I sit down, and closed my eyes as I was instructed, my other sences sharpen a little. I could clearly hear her footsteps circling around me. I could smell her as she got closer to me from behing and feel her heat as she hugged me.

"Wh-what are you doing?!"

"Relax. Take deep breaths and feel my warmth."

"This is some crazy teaching method."

"It's the fastest one. Tell me what do you feel."

"What I feel? I feel... I feel... ...two big warm sacks of meat?"

"Idiot!" I recieved a slap that send me to the ground. Strangely, I felt something like an electric current while it happened.

"You humans are really... only thinking about that one thing!! You li...ttle... Tarumi?!"

"Hm? What is it?"

"Your eyes shine."

"Oh what?" I took out my smartphone and while activating camera in the front I took a picture of my face.

"Huh? What did you do?"

"Take a photo... ah, you don't know what that is. It's like making an instant painting, see?" I showed her the picture I just took.

"Oh-hoo! What an intriquing magic!"

"Belive it or not, but this is no magic."

"Impossible!"

"It's true. We had several smart people come up with ideas to make life easier. Repeat it over several generations and we arrived in time where something like this phone is available to everyone."

"Impossible! But if you say so, I will try to belive you for now. Your eyes don't look like those of a liar."

"Thanks," I took the phone back and looked at the picture, "Golden eh? For black eyes like mine to shine with golden color, it's certainly weird."

"Come with me!" she took my hand and quite forcibly started pulling me outside.

"Okay! Okay! I can go by myself! So stop it!"

We exited the house, headed around one of the giant tree's roots and arrived at a semicircular pond with water overflowing and forming a small creek running away from the tree.

"Look in the pond and tell me what you see."

"Okay, I get it, don't push me... what do I see? Hmm... seems like fish? Though the body structure is weird. Also it's pretty deep. Around ten meters or so?"

"So you see them..." Sylnitta looked down as she said it. Her hands were shaking as she put them on my shoulders.

"Listen closely Tarumi. That golden shine is sign of a rare ability only seen within elven royalty called Spirit sight. By any means do not let other elves see it."

"Huh?!"

"Promise me that you will keep your spirit sight a secret!" her voice was half broken as she pleaded with me.

"Alright, I will keep my golden eyes secret, but you have to explain to me everything. What even is spirit sight?"

When she finally calmed down, we sit down in the living room. "It won't be nice story, but it's important, first let me tell you little about myself." While saying this, Sylnitta started talking about her past.

Sylnitta is from elvish ducal family and is a daughter of second prince from two generations ago. This prince however lead a rebellion, which Sylnitta's family took part in on his side and torn the Elvish empire into chaos. In the end he was executed on kings orders and most of his family followed the suit. As for those who were not executed, they were punished by being restricted their magic usage and their Spirit sight has been taken. Sylnitta who at the time was barely a teenager lost her magic ability to such a great extent that she was able to only cast one basic level spell and even that took all her magic power.

While being heartbroken she was also forced to leave the country. As she was wandering around the world with no goal, she met with a witch with simmilar background as her and she taught her about witchcraft and potion brewing. Maybe due to bad luck her hair turned platinum colored during this time. Sadly, not even two decades into her apprenticeship, humans found them and burned the old witch on stake, once again she survived by pure luck.

But, it was this event that broke her almost beyond repair. In the middle of the night, she entered the village the humans were from and burn it to the ground. She even put the heads of the leaders of the village, it's church and adventurers guild on stakes for everyone passing by to see. After this the humans nicknamed her Platinum witch and formed a hunting party. Sadly for them, Sylnitta had her knowledge of Witchcraft and curses so she easily overpowered them and run away.

For six decades she lived on the run until she by chance ecountered an elven royal procession and her rage lit up once again. Though, becouse she had less power then the elves, she lay in wait for her chance to strike. During this time she created a magicraft item that allowed her to steal magical powers of others and make them her own. After two weeks of stalking she attacked the elves and stole the entire briggade's magic powers. The one in lead of the procession was a princess, Sylnitta's cousin, and her husband. Blinded by rage she stole the princess' Spirit sight, as well as the regular one, and put a curse on the husband.

Feeling relieved, she took refuge here in the forest, but the powers she stole with the magicraft item, dissipaded over time and she became as weak as she used to be.

"I see, you were through a lot of pain."

Given her lifespan is longer then that of a human to boot... she must've seen a lot of terrible things. I'm sure she didn't even mention most of it to not hurt me.

"It's okay, I'm already over that. It's just that seeing your golden eyes reminded me of the past. Aaah, look at the time! I should start preparing lunch!" Sylnitta run out of the living room towards the kitchen.

I should let her be for now. No point in getting nosy.

Looking once again at the photo of my golden eyes, I noticed the look in them.

"Quite sad eyes..." turning of the gallery I saw my wallpaper which had a picture of my family. "I'm sorry mom, dad, Anna, I might be unable to meet you again. I just wish I could tell you..." as my words refused to leave my mouth, the screen turned of, only black void looking back at me. "I'm okay, and I will do my best to live a full life so you would be proud."
