Chapter 1:
Let's enjoy this other world
"Uwaaaaah!" I yawned as I walked to school. My name is Tarumi Sojka, a somewhat normal highshooler... though, I am a hunter so I spent most of my time outside... heck I don't even know whats in right now, not like I care...
"Uwaaaaah!" I should've head to bed sooner yesterday... I'm so sleepy... huh?
As I walked on the paved road, my food suddenly lost ballance which made me open my eyes wide. All the build up drowziness over the weekend was suddenly gone as I stared at my surroundings.
"What the hell..." as I looked around I noticed that there was no sign of the cityscape I was used to. Instead everything around me was green, green and even more green. Without a doubt, I was in a forest.
"What happened? This isn't normal. Was I kidnaped? Nah, I would be lying in grass if that was the case. I just walked here. And why would they leave me in a forest anyway? This doesn't make sence..."
Trying to understand my situation is secondary now. First I needed to make sure I have everything I need to survive. Water, food, shelter.
Sitting on a nearby fallen log covered in moss and some purple mushrooms I opened my backpack. Plastic bottle with water, five books, pencilcase, snacks... with this I can survive around... two days at best? Oh, I forgot to take out the things from the camping trip! Water filter, rope and knife! Heck yeah! Teachers would hate me for briging this to school, but who cares! I'm in a forest!
Feeling strangely motivated I moved out to find a better place to stay. Listening closely I noticed that there were many birds around me in the trees. If there are birds, then there must be some source of food nearby.
Looking around, I noticed that there were several nests in the trees. I could even see something like a squirel, but with greenish white fur and four eyes.
"This ain't earth eh? So different world maybe? Urgh... what the hell? How did this even happen?" half defeatedly I sighed and started walking with seemingly no goal in mind, however my training under grandpa seemed to take effect as I noticed a sound of running water coming from the place my legs were heading to.
The birds in the trees were chirping. Wind gently run through the leaves. The smell of forest filled my lungs.
"Aaaaaaaah~ whatever. It feels nice, so let's enjoy my time."
As I eased my steps through the forest, I noticed that the wind suddenly changed.
"Hmm... this is weird. Even the smell is different. Almost as if... someone is— gahh!" in that moment I recieved a kick in back of my head.
"Damn that hurt!" a female voice cursed behind me as I fell to the ground.
This is weird. Even if my body is sturdier then normal, I should've beed knock out by such a powerful kick.
Before I landed on the ground I curled my body and rolled away. Taking my knife out of the pocket I put it in previously, I looked at my assailant, slight pain stil throbbing in back of my head.
"Huh?"
The person before me, a woman with platinum blonde hairs, was lying down holding her ankle, clearly in pain. She had a bow on her back, but her quiver had no arrows, most likely the cause for me recieving a kick instead. She also had brow gloves stained with dried blood, her armor, while being made from leather have seen better times too. Her boots were torn in many places and had a feeling like they were about to fall apart, yet still managed to held in place.
"Who the hell are you?" I said as I hold my knife behind my back.
What the hell?! How am I gonna get out of this? I mean, if it were some kind of beast, I could kill it and go on my marry way, but what am I supposed to do with this woman?! If I tie her down, it will be assault! Wait, she attacked me first so it should be okay... yeah, like that would ever happen in our modern era...
"That's my line! This forest is out of reach for humans! How the heck did you get past my barrier?! And how is your head so hard?! Are you a troll or something?!" her voice was really melodious, but her words were rather harsh.
"Calling me a troll, what a brute. Don't ask me how I got here, I don't even know where I am!"
"How could you not know where you are?! This is Mayaleensian jungle! Also known as one of the seven deadly mazes! No normal human would ever go here for a walk!"
"Mind your words, they are working against you—"
"GRAAAAAAAAARHH!!!"
A beastly roar revibrated through the forest.
"Oh no..."
In the next moment a paw with shining claws tore through the nearby trees. A bear, and giant one at that.
"Tsk. A Devil bear, just great. I'm out of arrows and my curse energy is low... hey you human. Get lost. This is too hard for someone as ill-prepared as you."
"You don't have to ask me twice. Let's run."
As I was about to run, I noticed something. That woman was not going to run.
Tsk. First she attacks me and now she helps me escape? What's her deal?
As I was thinking about that she sprung into action. A wind gust formed around her legs as she jumped over the bears head.
"Good. You should run... what?" as she saw me, she became completly flabergasted, "Run you idiot!!"
"Geh! Run? Letting myself be saved? Grandpa would laugh at me."
"Remember Tarumi. Wilderness is filled with dangerous creatures. Yes you can defeat any oponent with your brains, but you can't defeat what you can't see. Though, if you can see them, then there is no need to worry. After all, you are a hunter like me, so use that brain of yours with full force."
Words of my grandfather echoed in my ears as I took several things from my backpack.
"Come at me you silly beast!" As I taunted the bear, and he indeed faced me.
"GRAAAAAAAAARHH!!!"
The beast roared as it run towards me.
"Don't think that will scare me. You might be big. But one smart man once said bigger they are, the greater their fall is."
I extended my hands holding lighter in one and a spray in second.
"Now burn for me."
Pressing the button, the flame flew from my hands and hit the surprised beast directly in it's face, burning it's facial hairs, throat, nose and eyes. Sadly the beast continued it's path towards me. Hah! No matter the world beasts always fear fire!!!
"You idiooooooooooooot!" the woman from before suddenly appeared next to me, grabbing my collar and pulling me away from the beast's path. "What the hell was that?! When someone tells you to run you run! Devil bear isn't something that can be that easily defeated!" She shook me violently.
"It was inpropu flamethrower. My grandfather was a hunter so he taught me how to survive a bear attack."
"But this is devil bear! Not your everyday Brown bear!"
"I think we should run. The bear will recover soon..." I let out a sigh as she continued to shook me. Meanwhile the bear was still disorientated and was thrashing around.
"Tsk, fine." She throw me on her shoulder and kicked the dust behind her. As she jumped up to the tree crowns, she continued moving through them as if she was born there.
She was going like this for good half an hour until we arrived at a small house at base of one tree. There she throw me on ground and looked at me appraisingly with her black sparkly eyes.
"What? Something on my face?"
"No. You... are not from this world are you?"
"Well, I never saw a bear with six limbs or four eyed squirrels so I guess this isn't my world. How do you figure."
"I am known as Platinum witch Sylnitta Elmhaim from Elven empire Roseenheim. I've seen human countries try summoning people from other world before, so I know a thing or two."
"Oh, so there are others like me? I forgot to introduce myself, sorry for that. I'm Tarumi Sojka."
"I'm not sure if they are like you. Could you tell me how you got here?"
"Yeah. I was on my way to school when in the next moment I'm inside this forest. And then I met your foot."
"Ack... yeah, sorry. I felt a disturbation in forests magical signature and you were at it's center so I though you wanted to burn this blace down. Sorry for attacking you."
"You were protecting your home, huh? Fine, no need to appologize. I would do the same in your place. But magic huh? This word seems like a fantasy stright from the books."
"Alright! I've decided!" Sylnitta looked up, tying her platinum hairs in a ponytail, revealing her pointy ears and face that didn't look much older then mine. "I will teach you about this world!"
Pointing her tiny, yet refined and sturdy finger at me she declared as if I had no other choice. And so, I started living in this bizzare world.
