Chapter 2:

Sober evening, instant ramen

Goodbye, Goodnight

"Who are you?" she asked me.

"Oh, I'm Seiichiro Tobe. I saw you passed out in front of my door, and I just cannot leave you out there freezing, so I brought you in and waited till you sober up." I explained myself.

As soon as she heard the words that came out of my mouth, she grabbed the blanket covering her and began touching her body to see if something was off with it.

"Don't worry, I did not do anything nor plan anything to do with you," I reassured her.

After my reassurance, she dropped her guard a little bit but enough for her to feel comfortable around me. Her eyes scanned through my place as if she is about to make comments about it.

"You live alone?" she briefly raised the question.

"Ah yes, well, this place is mostly empty anyway since I have, no, had work most of the time," I answered only to remember that I have no job as of tonight.

"Heh, I see. That's why this room feels empty as well." she made a brief comment.

"So, are you planning to move out soon now that you don't have a job?" she made her question direct this time that hearing those words coming from strangers hit a lot harder than hearing it from my mom's voice.

"Ah, not really. Not for now." I answered succinctly.

"Anyways, how did you end up passing out in front of my apartment in the first place?" I changed the topic by asking her a different question.

As we exchange conversations, I turn the gas stove on and put my pot filled with 550 ml of water that I'll use to cook the ramen with.

"I, don't really remember it myself. I was at the bar with my friends and when we part up, I received a message from my dad," she answered as she pats her pocket to look for her phone.

"I see. Will ramen work for your hangover?" I asked her.

Distracted by her phone she did not respond. Whatever she is reading from her phone, it could be anything but good news. Her eyes widen from shock and disbelief and the only words that came out of her mouth are:

"Shit, I've got to go."
