Chapter 1:

"Argument in Breakfast"

Falling in love to my Bodyguard

I woke up on a warm morning. I am greeted by my family's servant Mr. Ospreay. Despite his age, he chooses to stay loyal to our family. His whole clan was killed during the civil war and no one helped him until my family offered him their help in exchange for his service and loyalty to our family. He is a kind and trustworthy individual. He is my father figure growing up because my father wasn't around much.

"Good Morning Mr. Devitt. I have prepared your uniform to wear today and your Mother is expecting you to eat with them for breakfast," says Mr. Ospreay as he leaves my room.My Mom loves to eat together despite not being there most of the time for me and my sister because of her responsibilities as the owner of her own agricultural business. She likes to talk and get along with us despite that. I got up, took a bath, and prepare myself to head to our dining room where my mother and sister is expecting me to eat with them.

"Hmm... Looks like my brother is still as boring as ever even with the new school year starting. I pity you." says Abigail as she sips on her morning coffee.

Abigail, on the other hand, is my younger sister and I always want to punch her for being cocky and irritating toward me. But I can't do anything bad to her because she has gotten the acknowledgment from the Head of Relations, Mr. Helmsley. If you do not know what that means, getting an acknowledgment from the Head of Relations means you have a bright future ahead of you because the Head of Relations is a position that communicates and gives orders on behalf of the King. Mr. Helmsley is like the right-hand man of the King.

She got her Acknowledgement when she propose a plan to Mr. Helmsley regarding the issue of the delay of shipment of the goods for the kingdom. Since my Sister is always picking her nose at someone else's businesses, she figured she will provide Mr. Helmsley with a plan of her's because she thinks it will benefit her in the future. And so it did. Which is why no one dared to make an enemy out of her.

As I sat down next to her on our dining table and proceed to eat with my family. My Mother started the conversation saying "You must be looking forward to this new school year, huh?"

To which my cocky sister replied "Of course I do. I'm aiming to be at the top of my class and one day gained a higher position in the political world. I won't stop until I get what I want."

My sister wants to become a Politician. She might be merciless but she at least desires actual change. Her motto is "If it benefits me, it benefits others.". I have great respect for my sister because of what she did for this family as well. This is the other reason why I can't get angry at her for being rude to me.

For a while, my bodyguard arrived, Zelina, alongside Mr. Ospreay and Shayna, Abigail's bodyguard. Zelina is the same age as me and I have her as a bodyguard for 5 years. Zelina is a beautiful, strong individual and wears a serious face. She became the youngest bodyguard to ever get hired by an aristocrat. Which is why I have her as a bodyguard when I was 11. Despite being the same age, it does not bother my family to let Zelina as my bodyguard. If anything, my mother expected her to marry me.

I've always liked Zelina but I never told her my feelings because it would ruin our relationship and it would get in the way of her job. But how can I not fall for her? She's charming, pretty, and cute. Her boyish and Brown-skinned appearance got me flustered every time I see her. I of course blushed at the sight of her. Why can't I? I have feelings for my bodyguard.

"Devitt, don't be late for dinner. Remember, I arranged a dinner with Mrs. Cosmo with her family to discuss our partnership. Who knows?... you might end up marrying her daughter in the future so you could try and get along with them." Says, Mother.

"Mom, stop with that nonsense. I don't want you to get into how I choose my future bride." I said and looked towards Zelina and how she reacted to what my mom said. She remained with a serious look on her face. I could not know what she feels or thinks of me, to be honest.

My mom just giggled at my response. I know she is just teasing me.
"You should consider that option, brother. The Cosmo family does have connections with powerful people outside our country. You will be set for life." says Abigail.
"I'm not like you who will just choose anyone if it benefits you. It's all about your genuine feeling for someone. Something you could not relate to." I replied which irritates Abigail.
"You better keep your mouth shut or I won't be helping you out if you crawl to me for assistance," she said.
"Ok. Enough with your arguments and finish your breakfast or else you will be late for school."
We finished our breakfast and we then ride as our chariots took us to our school. Sitting right in front of me the whole travel is Zelina. I took this chance to talk to her saying "So how was your morning?"
She replied "It was alright. I woke up early to train, prepare my weapons, cook my food, and ready myself."

"You are doing all of this for me, huh?" I said.
"Of course I am. It's my job as a bodyguard to protect my master at all cost," she said.
The conversation stopped because I don't know what to say to her after that. I always have a hard time trying to hold a conversation with her, which is why I mostly just asked her about her job as a bodyguard. I feel bad for her to work with a master that is not that interesting.

She then broke the silence and asked "Are you considering taking Ms. Veronica Cosmo as your bride?". I was shocked. I never knew she would ask me about this.

"Me and Veronica are just friends. I don't see her as a bride of mine in the future." I replied.

"Oh... is that so?" she asked again.

"Yeah. I prefer girls who are strong, caring, beautiful, and committed to who they want to be." I replied.

"Really? I'm glad," she said while showing me her cute smile like she was delighted with my answer. I turn my head to the other side to hide my blushed reaction from her smile.

I ask her "You wouldn't mind if I ask you to be my bride, do you?"

After I said that, I realize that I kinda confessed my feeling to her by asking for her hand in marriage. To which I proceed to regret my decisions.

"Ahh, sorry. That was a dumb question. Of course, you're going to de--"

"I wouldn't mind."

"What?"

"In the future, I guess."

After she said that, we had an embarrassed expression on our faces and the whole mood was awkward throughout the trip.
