Chapter 15:

'Who is the big sis?' The wild ideas of the Miura twins.

I want to recover my normal Student Life! Vol. 1

The faint light penetrated the dense foliage, hitting Ayumu’s face. He rose, aching from the landing. To his surprise, he was still in one piece.

Oh, God! I’m still alive!’ he internalised. Turning around, he witnessed Aki had crashed head-on into a tree. ‘Hey, are you okay!?’ he called out, cautiously approaching her, unsure if she was still alive.

‘Don’t move!’ came Haruna’s authoritative voice. Ayumu tilted his head, meeting her gaze.

When did she arrive?’ he wondered, perplexed. The redhead observed him curiously.

A boy?’ her face paled. ‘Could he be one of those perverts!?

‘Um... your sister,’ Ayumu gestured towards Aki, who was still on the ground. The redhead snapped out of her thoughts and looked at her twin before focusing her gaze back on Ayumu.

‘What’s wrong with her?’ her face lost colour again. ‘He wants to do naughty things to Aki!?’ he blushed and abruptly cut off her reaction.

‘What the hell are you thinking!?’

‘You! Watch where you’re going!’ Aki turned furiously towards them, her eyes widening as she saw Ayumu. She then turned her head and saw her sister’s pale face. ‘Huh?’ A tense silence followed until Ayumu mustered the courage to address her.

‘A- are you okay?’

‘Oh! Yes, thank you,’ Aki stood up and patted her skirt to clean it. ‘Wait!!’ she halted and stared at the boy with confusion. ‘Who the hell are you!?’ she glanced over at her twin, who was still immersed inside her world. ‘What’s going on here!?’ the young girl with the orange headband called out, her gaze fixed on Haru.

‘This is a misunderstanding!’ Aki stared at Ayumu warily, as if he were considering a mischievous deed. ‘Why do I always encounter weirdos!?’ Haruna came back to reality.

A misunderstanding? Wait, I can take advantage of the situation... If I pretend he’s my boyfriend and that he came to see me, Akina will have to admit that I’m the older one. I mean... Dad said no boyfriends until we’re OLDER. More sweets desserts for me. If he does anything weird, I’ll zap him.

So, it’s a misunderstanding,’ the other sister thought. ‘If I remember correctly, Dad forbade us from having a boyfriend until we’re OLDER. It’s a perfect situation! If I pretend to be his girlfriend, Haruna will finally acknowledge that I’m the older one. A small sacrifice for all those desserts. But if he crosses the line, I’ll roast him.’ The sisters exchanged glances, giggling wickedly. Their eyes shone with impishness. Ayumu profited from the distraction and crept forward, trying to go unnoticed. However, both turned towards him.

‘Hey! Where do you think you’re going!?’ they clamoured in unison. Ayumu turned around, letting out a stifled scream. Haruna eyed her sister and then, hurried ahead of Aki, launched herself into Ayumu’s arms and clasped him in a sticky hug. He stood frozen, unsure of how to react. Akina, with an impassive gaze, remained puzzled. Ayumu attempted to push Haruna away with gentleness, but she seemed glued to him.

‘I mean, darling.’ Haru directed a quick glance, full of arrogance, at her twin. ‘You can’t just sneak out without saying bye.’ She gave Ayumu a cloying look and turned to her cutesy tone to head towards him. ‘Why are you a nasty boy with your beloved sweetheart?’

‘Huh?’ Ayumu appeared puzzled by the girl’s behaviour.

‘What the hell are you doing, Haru?’ Aki turned towards her sister.

‘Oh! Are you still here?’ Haruna feigned surprise. ‘Can you go? I would like to be alone with my darling.’ She gestured with her hand.

‘What!?’ Ayumu’s green eyes met Haruna’s blue eyes, and she gave her a tender look.

‘Haru!’ A very upset Aki got Ayumu’s attention. A maelstrom of furious blaze appeared from nowhere, wrapping around the girl’s body like a fiery aura, leaving Ayumu in disbelief and panic. ‘You ain’t about to snatch my prince!’ A magical seal drew in the air, emitting a reddish glow. The spell was completed swiftly, with a complete rotation between the two circles.

What type of monsters are they!?’ Ayumu’s eyes emitted a faint gleam, allowing him to see what was about to happen. Haruna locked her eyes onto her sister, following Ayumu’s gaze, but before she could say anything, the flames surged toward them. He closed his eyes and leaned backward. The scorching wind caused by the fire struck Haru and Ayu’s faces. Haruna’s cheeks flushed red as Ayumu’s right arm kept her pressed against his torso. Aki was surprised to see them both intact.

‘But how?’ Haru regained her senses and pulled away from Ayumu, realising that he was unharmed. Not even a single burn.

‘What are you trying to do? Kill me?’

‘You’re uninjured, right?! Damn eel!’ Aki confronted her sister. ‘What are you complaining about?’ A whitish aura covered both their bodies. They grappled with one another to push the other.

I need to leave now!’ Ayumu retreated a few paces as he peered at the twins. However, he accidentally stepped on a twig, catching their attention. Aki took a small step back, anticipating Haru’s move. Her sister viewed this as an opening to embrace Ayumu again.

‘Da... Aaaaah!’ Haruna shrieked and crashed to the ground. Akina caused her to stumble.

‘My turn!’ Aki lunged at Ayumu, who tried to dodge, but she was faster.

‘My dear prince,’ she mimicked her sister’s cutesy tone, hugging him. ‘That damn floozy will no longer come between us.’

‘Let me go!’ Hearing the sizzle, Ayumu fixed his eyes on the other redhead. Haruna’s hair was bristling; bolts of lightning shooting out around her, tracing unpredictable paths through the air until they struck the ground. ‘Hey, let’s calm down...’ Akina looked up at Ayumu, noticing his increasingly pale face.

‘What’s wrong, my prince?’ she turned to her sister, trying to mock her, just as Haruna had done to her. Akina was taken by surprise when a magic circle emitted an electric blue light. Ayumu’s scar reacted, and the mystery gleam returned to his eyes. He pressed Aki’s head as close to him as possible, and she blushed, somewhat surprised. He extended his left hand, and the lightning launched by Haruna struck it, while he tightly shut his eyes. Aki moved away from Ayumu’s chest, still somewhat surprised. Both were perfectly fine. It took her a moment, but then she reacted angrily toward her sister.

‘You attacked me treacherously!’ Akina approached and faced her again. Haruna looked away and sighed. The screams of the orange headband-wearing twin made him react, realising that he didn’t have a single scratch.

‘An eye for an eye,’ Haru drew a smocking smile between her cheeks. The air seemed to ignite, and small flames surrounded the two sisters, dissipating into the air within seconds.

‘Now you’ll see, eel!’ Ayumu looked at both girls in terror. ‘I have to move, or they’ll end up killing me in the middle of their fight!’ he started crawling on the ground while the twins argued.

‘You’re so childish, you damn torch! You don’t wanna accept that I'm the big sis, and you have to show me respect! That's why you're trying to steal my sweetheart!’

‘I’m childish? You’re jealous that I have a boyfriend because I’m older, and you’re not, so you’ve been trying to take him away from me, right? My prince,’ Ayumu interjected. They turned to him again. He quickly got up and started running hurriedly through the bushes. Both sisters paused in confusion.

‘Don’t run!’ they warned in unison, unhanding each other and pursuing after him.

‘Eh!’ Ayumu picked up his pace after glancing back. They were charging at each other, shoulder to shoulder, closing in on him.

‘You’re a nuisance, Aki! You’re bothering my darling and me!’

‘No, you’re the nuisance, Haru! Embarrassing me in front of my prince!’

‘Help, someone save me!’
