Chapter 2:

Befriended

Beyond the shadows

Even the monster had never seen that much darkness.

Most human minds were a mess.

But he had no idle thoughts.

It seemed like he never bothered about anything important and only thought about things that mattered.

The mist attempted to escape from his mind and return into the mirror. This boy,he was different. He was different from everyone else.

His mind was like a fortress.

he had no weakness.

* * *

Timmy woke up late the next morning with His body feeling really weak. It was the first he had felt this ill. Aside from the mild flu he had gotten a few times as a child he had never experienced many sickness.

Timmy wondered why he felt so tired.

"I guess I slept too much." Timmy said to himself.

Timmy got ready for school and went down the apartments elevator. He walked to school and entered the class 30 minutes late. He had missed half the lesson.

"Wow Timmy you're actually late today," The teacher said seeing him standing by the entrance of the door."no wonder I never noticed you in class today, not that I ever notice you."

"Sorry." Timmy said apologetically, still wearing his blank expression.

"It's okay, just sit down." The teacher said as he continued teaching.

Timmy went over to his place and sat down. He was about to start taking down notes when he suddenly felt his head spinning. He ignored the dizziness and continued with his classwork.

Leah watched him closely, there's something wrong with him today she thought to herself.

She decided continue to watch him for the rest of the day.

The day went on for Timmy and he managed to avoid everyone else. He kept experiencing short rounds of dizziness and his body felt really weak.

It was when school was over, Timmy was on the grounds. The teacher had said as punishment for being late he would stay and pickup litter.

I should go buy some pills Timmy thought to himself.

"Hey,creep!" Timmy heard someone shout.

He turned around to see who had called him but before he knew it he had gotten punched in his face.

Timmy looked up at his assailant. Timmy felt a slight throb on his face.

"See,I told you about this kid," Gabriel snapped angrily."I don't if it's just his attitude or something but he never reacts to my hits."

"You're just weak, that's why." another voice said.

"You should try it yourself than," Gabriel sneered before turning to face Timmy."Hey punk, I wasn't done with you yesterday."

"Why are you trying to hurt me?" Timmy plainly asked Gabriel,as he stared into Gabriel's eyes.

"You not even getting hurt you b*stard," Gabriel said kicking him."What the hell are you,a damn punching bag?"

"No, I'm not." Timmy replied again still with his calm demeanor.

Timmy tried to sit up.

The other boy who was with Gabriel attacked Timmy with his knee sending him falling back making Timmy's head crash into the ground.

Timmy's mouth was filled with blood and he had gotten a cut by his eyebrow.

"Well at least you bleed, you creep." Gabriel said sneering.

"Why...why do you always hurt me?"Timmy asked silently.

"Because I want to." Gabriel said kneeling down to look at Timmy.

"So you want to hurt me?" Timmy asked once again.

"Yes,that's exactly right." Gabriel said lighting his cigarette.

"Why?" Timmy asked.

He genuinely wanted to know why.

What did he do wrong? Why did this person hate him so much?

"You ask too many questions punk," Gabriel said as he held Timmy's head and pushed him hard onto the ground."just because you came little late to school and now you think you're a big gangster? Stop dreaming."

Timmy didn't reply. His head was just spinning and throbbing. He felt weaker than ever. He felt that if he tried,he couldn't lift even a finger.

"This is the guy who feels no pain?"The other guy said laughing."I guess it's true he didn't react to the hits, but he's bl**dy weak. Maybe he just doesn't know how to cry."

"He should have learned by now if that was the case," Gabriel said standing up."you better stay out of my way creep."

"I did, but you came to me." Timmy said silently, almost under his breath.

"Still talking, huh punk? Wanna learn a little more?" Gabriel asked angrily.

"But..." Before Timmy could finish his sentence he had gotten kicked on the side of his head by the other guy.

"You talk to much you piece of trash." the guy said. The guy had a big built with short black hair. His side's were cut with the top combed into spikes and he had a fearsome look.

But Timmy knew no fear.

"I just want to go home." Timmy said again as he got up.

"Still got some energy to stand don't you," Gabriel said chuckling."I'll just knock you out."

Gabriel had picked up a brick and he was about to swing his hand to hit Timmy with it but before he could something happened.

It was a huge sound.

Than behind Timmy a monster emerged from the ground. A large massive monster.

Timmy turned around and saw it.

It was for a second,if even a split second that he felt something inside.

It was like something inside him felt scared.

But he wasn't sure since he didn't know what fear felt like.

* * *

It was a monster that towered over them like how a lion would tower over mice. It's skin was a combination of black with flowing dark blue streaks.

It was truly a beast.

"Run."

"What?" Timmy had heard something in his head.

"Run away."

"Who's in my head?" Timmy asked.

"It's me the mons-...your friend."

"Oh it's you,why should we run?" Timmy asked.

"Because if we don't,than we'll die. Are you not afraid of dying?" the demon asked him.

"I don't feel fear." Timmy said with his straight expression.

"Arrogant little kid,now is not the time to be cocky." the monster shrieked.

"Please lower your voice ." Timmy said.

The monster all this while had been shrieking and hadn't attacked anybody. It turned around and saw Timmy and the others.

It charged towards them. It's every step caused cracks in the ground and it's shriek resonated over miles away.

The beast resembled a lion with the built of a gorilla. It had mane around its head and shoulders and it's front limbs seemed longer than the back ones.

Gabriel and his friend turned and ran away while shouting,"What the hell is that!"

Timmy just stood there staring straight at it as it charged towards him. He wasn't frozen with fear . He just didn't know what to do.

It was just about to attack him with its giant palm when some impact sent it flying back. Than before Timmy knew it,right there in front of him stood a girl who wore a mask. She had a red and gold spear and had school uniform on. Her dark brown hair was tied into a ponytail and she was as agile as a cat with her feet.

"Get away from here Ti-...kid," She shouted as she stole a glance at him."this is a lower tier B rank monster."

"Oh." Timmy said before turning around. He picked up his bag and put it on,put his hands in his pocket and started casually strolling away.

"Run faster, damnit!" The demon shouted at him.

"So you are both monster right?" Timmy asked ignoring the demons protests.

"Yes but he's a low silver rank and I'm still at rock level." the monster said.

"Are those how monsters rank themselves?" Timmy asked.

"Yes." the monster hurriedly answered.

"It's lame." Timmy said plainly.

"Humph!" the monster exclaimed.

"She needs help,She is struggling there and fighting it alone. She won't survive." Timmy said as he looked back and saw her fighting the monster. It was much too agile and powerful to taken down easily.

"What can we do?" The demon asked Timmy mockingly."All we can do is run and let her handle it."

"You have no shame." Timmy said straightforwardly.

"Why would I have when there's a chance of me dying." The monster shamelessly said.

"Aren't you strong too? You are a monster after all." Timmy asked the monster while still walking away.

"I am strong it at my current level I can only attack weak humans and not those powerful ones." the monster said in a sad tone of voice.

"Could you attack that monster? " Timmy asked him.

"Not in my life, there's no way" The monster said sounding a bit more restless.

"Is there no way?" Timmy said as he stopped walking.

"Well I guess if we morphed we could reach at least gem rank. Or maybe less but we'd be a bit stronger together, than you would just have to learn how to use the abilities. But I would probably control the body better than you can use my powers." The monster explained.

"I can feel it." Timmy said as he lifted his hand and looked at it.

"Feel what?" The demon asked.

"The power, its there and I can feel it but it feels like there is some kind of seal preventing me from using it." Timmy said.

"You can already sense the powers?" The monster asked, sounding surprised.

"Yes." Timmy said.

"I learned the secret from a friend that when a human combines with a  monster and learns how to use and control the power, they'd be much more powerful than a monster controlling a human," The monster said sounding thoughtful."but there needs to be some kind of trust."

"Trust?" Timmy asked confused.

"Yes sorta like a pact between us." The monster said.

"Let's make a pact." Timmy asked.

"It's as simple as this,do you trust me?" The monster asked.

"Yes I do, you're my friend." Timmy straightfordly said.

"Great," the monster said."than I'll trust you too."

"Is it that easy to trust." Timmy said scratching his cheek.

"I should be the one asking you that moron!" the monster shouted."anyways try to access the power since you have my permission. It's morphing time."

"Really?" Timmy asked.

"Just do it!" The monster shouted.

"Okay." Timmy said as he closed his eyes.

Timmy concentrated on doing what the demon said. He suddenly felt heat all over his body. A sensation gathered around his body before it transformed into heat transferred to one part of his body. Than the heat was in one place. Together with that heat was that power.

Slowly and carefully Timmy tried to access the power,to feel it and to control it. He felt it spreading all over his body. It made him shudder. Suddenly some sort of electric shock went through him. His eyes shot open and in the next moment he felt different. He felt, power.

"It worked." the monster said excitingly.

"It did?." Timmy asked.

"Yes, it did."

"How strong are we?." Timmy asked.

"Almost as strong as a low level bronze rank," The monster said."but somehow we have much more energy. I guess we synched together perfectly."

"So let's help her." Timmy said looking at the beast and the girl. It had been a while and the beast was almost down.

"She doesn't need our help anymore, She's about to defeat it." The demon said.

"Oh, already?" Timmy said before turning to walk away.

"I guess we underestimated her," The monster said with evident relief In his voice."good thing there's only one beast.

Than came a thunderous sound.

There was another monstrous shriek.

There appeared another monster, this time it was a much bigger one.

It was a really big one.

"Did I just jinx it?." The monster asked Timmy.

"I don't know what that means", Timmy said honestly.
