Chapter 11:
Beyond the shadows
The days passed swiftly and Timmy continued to train. Soon a week had past and finally what Jago and Timmy had been waiting for arrived.
Timmy had awakened.
Earlier, the power Timmy had was from merging with Jago. He didn't have his own powers.
But now that he had awakened his energy,he would be more powerful than ever.
Timmy had been meditating in his room at the time and suddenly some mystical energy burst forth from his body. It was white in colour and traces of electric currents could be seen all over his body.
"Magnificent, it's the power of lightning." Jago mumbled excitedly.
"Lightning?" Timmy asked Jago.
"Yes,all mystical powers come in its own forms. Your power is in the form of lightning. You can develop your power and develop it into many techniques but that will take time.
The power you had earlier was dark energy but that also has its own form. It came in the form of Shadow mist. It was my power but you could control it.
You will learn more but first you should learn to control your power." Jago explained to Timmy.
"How do I control it?" Timmy asked.
"Focus on controling your energy in its pure form. The energy has two forms. It's advanced form and it's pure form. Your energy in it's advanced form is lightning but in its pure form,it would just be raw mystical energy. For now, first place some of your mystical energy into the form of a ball." Jago said to Timmy, explaining patiently.
"Like this?" Timmy mumbled as he carefully tried to create a ball. It took him time but he soon managed afters a few failures.
The ball Timmy conjured was blue in colour. It was a little transparent and it gave of a faint amount of energy. The surface of the energy ball was uneven and with the way it kept changing one could compare it to waves in an ocean.
"Yes. Now,focus on reducing the size of that ball. This will be your practice for now." Jago said to Timmy.
"Only that?" Timmy asked.
"Yes,only that." Jago said, sounding quite sinister at that moment.
By the next day,Timmy didn't even manage to compress it an inch smaller than its original size. Timmy realised just how difficult the task at hand was. To reduce the size of the energy ball,he needed practice. He needed to understand the energy. Timmy knew it wouldn't be way.
Timmy could just get ready for class that morning and decide to practice after classes. Timmy walked towards his first class.
He was having mysticism in the morning that day. It was an interesting subject and Timmy didn't mind looking forward to it.
That day in particular, they were learning about something interesting.
"Today we are going to learn about taming. Taming is a type of magical ability where a gifted person tames or controls a magical creature. It's not an easy path to take so not many people take it. " Professor Catherine explained to the students.
"Taming,huh?" Timmy wondered to himself.
Soon the bell went off and the students left the room for their next class. Students moved from class to class for their subjects while teachers stayed in a single classroom.
The rest of the day passed normally until it was time for mystical combat. This particular day, Professor McKinney ambled in dressed in a snow white cloak, together with a dark green suit under the cloak.
"Well good afternoon everyone," professor McKinney said with his arms behind his back. His green eyes trailed over the students in the room before he continued speaking."After a month, I suppose that most of you have awakened.
Today,I'll start teaching you on how to control your mystical energy. I hope you're all ready. In 4 months time, you will all be participating in the inter-school competition.
The 5 classes will all be competing against each other for the ultimate prize. I'll go into detail later,as for today I want those of you who have awakened to conjure a ball of energy.
Everyone else began to try and create the ball. Everyone seemed to fail each time they tried and the energy they gathered would dissipate with a poof.
Timmy looked around him the ball of energy. The energy gathered before he attempted to create his own energy ball. he lifted his right hand and focused his energy into conjuring it. together slowly as it formed into a round energy ball.
The energy ball formed was about the size of a basketball. Jago had said that although it could be used for attacking,it wouldn't be too effective as the energy particles were more sparsely gathered.
"Magnificent! Timmy, have you been practicing?" Professor McKinney asked , almost ecstatically as he approached Timmy.
Timmy was among the first to conjure an energy ball. Leah had created one, without surprise since she had awakened a while back. The same went for Neo and Lizzie, although it was not as flawlessly done as Leah.
Amy had awakened a little more recently so her energy ball was not as well done as the others. The rest of the class had some who did exceptional while others couldn't even create anything close to an energy ball.
"Keep trying to create an energy ball, we'll continue when everyone manages to conjure an energy ball. We don't want anybody to fall behind now,do we?" Professor McKinney said.
In the meanwhile, Timmy attempted trying to reduce the size of the energy ball. Creating and moulding the energy ball itself required immensely precise and accurate calculations so naturally, compressing it to a different size would be even more difficult.
The period continued on and Timmy tried to figure out what exactly he needed to do to change the size of the energy ball.
The period for the day ended with only ⅓ of the class conjuring an energy ball.
The next class was weaponry combat and in this subject, the entire class was steadily improving.
At this point every one of the learners had chosen their own choice of weapon and they focused entirely on that weapon.
Leah chose a spear, which wasn't surprising to Timmy. When he had first met her,she was using a red and gold spear.
Neo had chosen a massive club,it was a weapon which suited his bulky size. Neo had grumpily claimed to be better with his fists when professor Lucas forced him to select a weapon.
Amy had chosen to use a bow. She was also quite good with it. Lizzie had claimed that Amy could hit a target from miles away.
Nino had chosen twin daggers while Nina had chosen a sword. Timmy had wondered what to choose but eventually, he chose a sword.
Nina had nodded at him silently when he had chosen the sword.
Professor Lucas would help and advise every student on how to improve their skills in wielding their weapon. That way, every person improved by leaps and bounds.
Timmy especially was the most impressive among the students. In just a week, he had already surpassed many other class students. Timmy grew increasingly quick and agile with time and his skills also improved.
In a single week, Timmy didn't seem like a person who was using a sword for the first time. But Timmy knew he was far from competing with Nina.
Nina's skills were at a level where she could be considered a genius. Timmy was willing to become strong enough to at least be evenly matched with Nina.
Timmy began training by himself. He began swinging and stabbing his sword at an imaginary opponent.
Timmy's movements were fast and fluid and other students couldn't help but peek at him in between their own training.
Timmy kept on slicing air and practicing until he was soaked with sweat.
"You're training quite hard at this," Jago said to him from his mind.
"Yes,I want to improve and become stronger in every way possible," Timmy replied to Jago. Jago had become Timmy's mentor and companion in the short time they had been together. Timmy accepted advice from the fiend and with Jago's help, Timmy has improved by leaps and bounds.
"You should go to the library when you get free time. There's much for you to learn. After all, you're quite new to the world of the gifted." Jago said to Timmy.
"Remind me to do that," Timmy replied as he paused to wipe his brow.
"I will. Focus, Your professor is coming over," Jago said to Timmy before staying silent.
"Hey, Timmy." Professor Lucas called out as he approached.
"Professor?" Timmy said, standing up straight. Timmy had rested his hands on his knees earlier out of exhaustion. He was truly putting his all into mastering the sword.
"I noticed you've been training pretty hard." Professor Lucas said with a smile. He placed his hand on Timmy's back as he spoke.
"Yes Professor Lucas. I just intend to improve my ability." Timmy replied to Professor Lucas.
"Well,I noticed something you're going to have to fix if you want to improve," Professor Lucas said to Timmy while pointing at Timmy's sword."I hope you're willing to accept the criticism."
"You're relying too much on your sword." Professor Lucas finally said, while placing his hands behind his back.
"What?" Timmy asked,he didn't understand what exactly Professor Lucas meant.
"Of course your sword is essential in fighting, but you're forgetting who controls the sword. It's you. You're focusing more on improving on wielding the sword itself and less on yourself. You need to remember to focus on yourself too when sword fighting. There needs to be a balance between yourself and the sword when fighting. Once you master that balance, you will become a grandmaster. Don't focus on making it completely balanced but focus on making it as balanced as possible." Professor Lucas said as he concluded his explanation.
Timmy understood exactly what professor meant by the end of the explanation. Timmy had indeed focused more on using the sword than how he himself used the sword. He didn't give the same amount of attention to the two.
Timmy thanked Professor Lucas and immediately restarted his training. Timmy took the advice his professor gave him and immediately felt the improvement.
By the end of the lesson, Timmy felt hot and sweaty but he didn't mind. He was satisfied with the training and looked forward to the next chance he got to train. Timmy immediately left the class and went back to the boy's dorm since his classes were over.
"You were even more impressive today." Neo praised Timmy as they both walked back to the class.
"Yeah, you never cease being impressive." Said Brock, another boy who Timmy had been acquainted with.
"Even I was a little impressed today." Added in Brett, a boy who had an extremely extravagant haircut.
"I still need to improve," Timmy replied honestly as he headed to his room.
"You're too humble," Neo said with a sigh as he watched Timmy. Timmy was truly amazing. He had heard from Leah that Timmy had come from the outside world. He had never used a sword or never trained himself in any other way but it seemed impossible.
Timmy kept surprising everyone time and time again.
"I will see you all later, than," Timmy said to them when he arrived at his room door. Timmy's face was unchanged like always as he spoke.
"Yeah. See ya." Neo said to Timmy before leaving.
"He's changed." Brock muttered.
"Yeah, alot. But he still has that stoic expression." Neo said with a smile.
