Chapter 6:

Kuro's Right Hand Man

Pandora's Box

Once again I had arrived at school early. Since no one was around, this gave me an opportunity to talk out loud with Red.

"So what's our plan for today?" I asked.

Red was sitting cross legged like a first grader on the window sill next to my desk.

"Don't worry your pretty little otaku head. All you have to do is just blindly do as I say."

"I'll trust you, but I can't promise I'll just do everything you say."

He huffed.

"Do you know what happened to Napoleon at the end of his rule?"

"Are you referring to his death?"

"Yep. He went from being a great conqueror to dying in prison of a stomach ulcer and mercury poisoning. His fall from grace started the moment he began ignoring my advice."

"I guess I'll keep that in mind."

If Red's as good as he says he is, I shouldn't have any reason not to listen to him.

"Since I can't really talk to you when other people are around, maybe we should think of some hand signals or something to communicate." I said.

"Now you're using your head. That girl on Saturday, I'm pretty sure, was starting to think you were schizophrenic."

"Alright, how about if I turn the palm of my hand upward. That will indicate that I'm agreeing with what you are telling me. When I-."

He spoke over me,

"Sounds good. All we need is that one signal. There's no need to over complicate things."

"Yeah but-."

"Nah, that should be good enough. What else would I need to know? It’ll be obvious when you're not listening to me."

I was going to go through a number of hand signs, but I guess he does make a good point. Most of them would probably just be redundant.

After a bit, students began coming to the classroom, which ended Red's and my conversation. Ryo came over to my desk, in his usual hyper and over the top manner. He seemed like he was having trouble walking though.

"Are you alright?" I asked.

"Never been better. I spent the entire weekend working on my legs. Typically people hate leg day, but I decided to embrace it. From now on, everyday will be leg day!"

"I'm pretty sure you're supposed to let your muscles rest."

"That's a weak mind set, Kuro. Alpha's never take days off."

Red chimed in,

"I like this kid's attitude. Every great leader needs a right hand man. You should convince him to aid you with your campaign."

I turned my palm up to signal that I was in agreement.

"Hey Ryo, would you mind giving me a hand with something after school?"

"I don't know, dude. I really can't afford to miss the gym."

"Trust me this will be good. If class wasn't about to start, I'd tell you right now, but it has something to do with getting back at the student council."

That's all he had to hear.

"You can count me in! The gym can wait."

I knew his hatred for the student council girls would get him on board.

The teacher entered the room and told everyone to take their seats. Red started walking to the door.

"See you later. Unlike you, I don't have to sit through some boring class. I'll be wandering around the school if you need me."

I was a bit concerned about what he was going to be doing, but it's not like I could do anything to stop him.

...

After class ended, Ryo and I made our way over to the school's copy room. The faculty office permitted me to use this room temporarily for the election. We sat at a small round table next to the copy machine. Red was already there, waiting for us.

"Okay bro, give me the deats." Ryo said.

"Alright, so did you read the school paper at all last week?"

"Why would I do that? Reading is for beta's. A Chad like me has better things to do."

"I think you're going to want to see this though."

I handed him the article from last week. He took a few moments to skim through it.

"Dude, is this for real? I told you that those three women were evil."

"After I read that, I confronted President Sato. She played dumb of course, but that pushed me over the edge and at that moment I declared my candidacy for the student council president."

"So you're actually running against that demonic girl?"

"Yep."

"Dang bro! I'm proud of you for sticking it to them. You truly are an alpha... So what do you need me for?"

"Well, I was hoping you could help me out with my campaign. There's so much to do, I don't think I can do it all myself."

Red, who was standing on top of the copy machine, spoke up,

"In exchange for his loyalty, you should offer him a position of power. That's what any ruler would do. Also I'm sure he'll provide some good material for my manga, so..."

I turned my palm up in agreement. I then continued on to Ryo,

"In fact, I'd like for you to be my vice president."

He paused for a moment and thought. He got a grin on his face.

"Wait, isn't Mei the current vice president? So that would mean I'd be replacing her."

"Do you still have a grudge against her from middle school?"

"How couldn't I? That witch humiliated me in front of everyone."

"So does that mean you're in?"

"I do like the sound of 'Vice President Ryo'. You can count me in! Just tell me what you need me to do.

"Glad to have you on board. I guess to start we need to make people aware that I'm even running. I just had a bunch of fliers printed out, so we'll start by hanging them in the halls."

I handed Ryo a stack of fliers.

"I'll make sure every square inch of this school is covered. There won't be a student that doesn't know about your candidacy. I'm really looking forward to seeing those girls' faces when they lose."

He was getting very excited. This was the kind of enthusiasm I needed. Hopely, this will win over voters.

Both Ryo and I began laughing maniacally,

"Mwahahahahahaha-!"

A teacher suddenly entered the room.

"Sorry to interrupt you boys. I just need to use the copier quickly."

She lifted the top of the copier that red was sitting on. He was flung off.

*Bzzzzzzzzzzzz*

She grabbed her copy and left.

Red rubbed his head, annoyed.

"She's lucky this was the form I chose to take. I could have come to earth as something much more terrifying if I wanted to."

After that, Ryo went off to begin promoting my campaign.
