Beginnings

This is a story about Moon. Moon is a high schooler in his second year. Moon has white hair due to a genetic disease. He is fourteen and he started school late.

One day while in class, "Moon translates the phrase," said the teacher. Moon stands up and says "If God wills it, it shall happen". Moon thinks god doesn't even exist. Moon sits down and goes to sleep till the school day is over.

Moon wakes up and tries to leave the classroom. When going he gets approached by three students in his class. The guy in the middle, the ring leader says "Come with us." Moon follows with a calm expression. The ring leader, Kamishiro says "Give me your wallet." Moon says in a calm tone "No." Kamishiro says "I never liked you anyway. Your so goddamn stubborn!" Kamishiro signals his backup and then says "Let's get him, boys!" Moon gets jumped by them. In this fight, he tries to fight back but gets overpowered by them.

Bloody and bruised, Moon decides to walk home. On the way home, Moon sees a new path that he has never seen nor taken before. He decides to take this path. Moon goes down the dark alley.

After walking for five minutes he finds a purple and black crystal calling him. The crystal glows. This glow brightens up this dark alleyway. It shined so brightly that it was like a star in the sky. Moon goes to the glowing crystal and decides to touch it. Moon already preparing for the worse. His finger hits the crystal.

It speaks " My, my since you found me. We have just met and you are getting handsy. I want to grant your wish but it might be inappropriate." Moon jumps back and shouts "What the hell are you?"

It says "So rude! And to think you are the first human I have ever met. Is that how you treat a lady?" Moon calms down and says "I'm ... sorry." The crystal says "That's better. Now boy tell me your name."

Moon says "My name is Moon." The crystal says "What is your last name? Don't you humans use last names too." Moon says "I don't need my last name." The crystal asks "Why is that? Isn't names special? Isn't one's own existence?"

Moon says "I was ... abandoned by my parents." The crystal says "No go parent should give up on their child."

Moon says "This world is cruel and heartless. I wasn't wanted but I am grateful for my adopted family. They took me in but I don't feel connected to them. My siblings are so much greater than me. I feel like even if I try my best I could never beat them."

The crystal just listened to Moon vent. It asks "Why are you so beaten and battered?" Moon says "I am different from everyone in my school because my family is so great and I am not. I don't hate them I just want to feel like I am on the same starting line as them."

The crystal says "I can make that happen."

Moon asks "What do you mean by that?" The crystal says "As you can see, I am special. I can grant wishes." Moon says "You do seem magical but that might be a stretch plus you might as for some incentive."

The crystal says "I won't. I swear it on Lady Pandora!" Moon says "Fine, I will trust you." It starts to glow brighter and says "I will ask you what is your wish?"

Moon says " What I wish for more than anything is I want strength to win. Power to end it all! I finally want to win. That is my wish." The crystal says "You wish for power. But what of the cost?"

Moon shouts "I don't care! Fuck the cost! I want to win." The crystal also says while shattering "Your wish shall be granted! I'll watch you in the name of Lady Pandora. Always follow her grace and light."

Those words continued to echo into Moon's head. The crystal flies away and some fly into him.

Moon makes it home and sees his mother at the door saying "Why are you late coming home and with bruises!" Moon says "I fell down some stairs." She sighs and says "Wash up for dinner." She thinks to herself "This is the fifteenth time this month. And I know why he won't tell me the truth."

Moon puts his stuff down in his room. After that, he went to the bathroom, washes his hands, and goes to the dinner table. At the dinner table, his dad is talking about going to work leave for a business trip.

Moon's little sister Hikari says "When do you leave?" Moon's dad says, "First light tomorrow morning. I have a business trip around the Island." Moon's brother Eclipse leaves his room.

Hikari says to Moon in a murder-happy tone "So how did you get the bruises?" Moon, shaken by those words says "Nothing happened."

Hikari whispers "What idiot means to touch what is mine!" Their mother shouts "That is enough!" She continues and says "This is your father's last day with us. Please let's send him off with some peace."

Moon leaves the table and escapes to his room. He thinks about what happened today while drifting to sleep.
