Chapter 28:

REMAID- VOLUME 1 AUTHORS NOTE

My Grandma's Loving Maid Is My Classroom Neighbor?!

At the start of June, 2023, I began writing a novel for the MAL x Honeyfeed contest about a black hole bunny girl and an obsessive boy. It would turn out, after getting just a few chapters in, that the story was breaking the rules of the contest and its prompts. Feeling heavily dejected, I sat in my years old swivel chair, and asked myself what I could write about instead.

In a moment of drunken madness, I decided on a story about a boy’s dead mother, two cute girls, and a whole lot of mental illness and trauma talk. As it would turn out, this probably also doesn’t fit the idea of wholesome, but regardless of that, the story still blew up. The original version of this story, reaching a total of 24k words, has now been replaced by a complete first volume that, despite having its own problems, still has a higher overall quality than that original version ever did. Despite that, though, I won’t discount the value of that original story.

Throughout the process of writing BunnyGirl, the original grandma maid, and now finishing up the first draft of REMAID volume 1, I can say for certain that I have learned a lot. More than just how to write something of stronger quality, I’ve managed to learn where my passion for writing truly stems from, and tapped into it to write the story I wanted to write more than anything. Now, that isn’t to say it’s perfect. I have plenty of work to do during editing to make it reach that vision I still have for it. But, at where it is now, I can still say I’m very proud of it.

To those of you who have managed to read the first draft of REMAID 1, and the even more insane of you who read through the original, my gratefulness is everlasting.

I have a lot to do, both for volume 1 and the releases of volume 2 starting soon. I hope you stick around for both.

Until then, I lay down my pen.
