Let Me show You Some Magics

Take Alet home, get some groceries, and park his motorcycle in the Ringin Stay which is the name of the apartment Io live in Capla’s city. He also brought some extra clothes from his house to save his money. “Ugh I have to start doing my laundry. Thank god this apartment has a washing machine and dryer.” Io already spent most of his money to buy this apartment room, it was pretty expensive but he got a house-like feeling in return.

The morning comes, As always Io arrive thirty minutes early in class. Followed by Alet fifteen minutes later and the rest of the class. A teacher walks into the class and introduces herself.

“My name is Poppy Renweard, you can call me Ms. Ren. Today I’ll teach you about the basics of spell casting.”

Ms. Ren's class lasted about one and a half hours. After class is dismissed every student gets to go home. The university system in the Living Circle, every lesson starts at eight o’clock in the morning. Each day only one lesson in every class. After the class, the students can meet with the corresponding teacher to learn a specific subject or ask permission to use the school facilities. The school fee itself is free, but it only applies to the university only. Why it’s free, because not every person wants to learn about combat and similar stuff. Some of them prefer to find a job instead.

“Hey Io, let's ask Ms. Claire’s permission to borrow the dueling field.” Said Alet, she cannot wait for her combat training with Io.

“Sure, let's head to the office room.”.

The office room is located inside the second sports building near the canteen. Alet knocks on Ms. Claire's office door.

“Come in.” Ms. Claire gives permission.

“Hello Ms. Claire, can Io and I borrow the dueling field?” Asked Alet.

“Of Course you can, but I need a reason why? After I saw your match yesterday, you guys almost killed each other. I don’t want to risk your safety.” A worried expression can be seen through Ms. Claire’s face.

“About that, I agreed with Io to train our combat skills together. Since the sports uniform gives us a magical shield, it can reduce the risk of being hurt. I promised we would only do this for training purposes only.”.

“Hmmm… Okay I trusted you guys, I will give you permission to use it. Make sure you set everything back to normal after using it. I’m still going to monitor the field through my magical lens from here. Here is the key to the dueling field, make sure you return it to my office before three PM.”.

“Thank you so much Ms. Claire.”.

“You Welcome.”.

“They are really ambitious. Well it is very obvious after seeing their potential.” Ms. Claire smiles after seeing them leave the room.

After wearing the sports uniform, Io meets Alet in the middle of the field.

“So… how do we spawn our weapon?” Asked Io since he can’t perform any magic.

“It’s easy, all you have to do is tap your left wrist and you can see all your information about your fighting style.”.

“You’re right! Where did they get our information?”.

“They collected it while we were still in high school.” Answer Alet as she spawns her sword.

“All right, it’s been a while I haven't used this.”.

“You- What!? You have a sword too?”.

“Yes of course I do, why are you surprised?”.

“B-but every person only gets one weapon, how did you get two?”.

“Oh in high school I’m certified to master short-medium combat range.”.

“You really are amazing. Wait, how do you fight in the medium range?”.

“Nothing special, I can just jump toward them. My classmate said that I’m the master of closing the gap.”.

“No no no. I guess we are going to learn casting magic first. I know you are really good at it but the risk is also very high. It will be better if you can at least shoot a fireball.”.

“I think you are right, let me tell you something, your sword hit me a little when I’m at my peak state yesterday. But since I’m in peak state, I can endure the damage.”.

“See I told you.”.

“All right. How are we going to do this?”.

“First, pull up your dominant hand and then imagine like you are about to throw a baseball but replace the baseball with a fireball like this.” Alet swings her hand and a fireball comes out from her hand. It was Io's turn, he did the like what Alet said and nothing happened.

“Oh right, since you are not a magic caster like the Caplas, you have to loosen your muscle and focus on your hand just like we learn in Ms. Ren’s class today.”. Explain Alet. Io swing his hand again and it's still nothing.

“Just relax, feel the energy flowing through your hand. The more you relax your muscles the higher the chance of it working.”. After Alet gives Io more advice, still no fireball comes out of Io's hand.

“I said relax, hah… let me show you.” She proceeds to take Io’s right hand and start moving his whole arm to the motion of the spell. “So closeeee… Come on Io focus, imagine a fireball. A fireball, a fireball…” Soon a fireball comes out of Io’s hand.

“You did it! Congrats!” Alet claps her hand cheering for Io.

“That was… Cool! Let me do it again.” I swung his hand again and it worked.

“Yay! Ahahaha I’m so happy for you!” Alet hugs Io after he succeeded to cast a second fireball. They both blush a little bit and the situation becomes an awkward silence.

“M-mah, since you already cast a fireball, how about casting a water dagger? It still has a similar motion but now imagine you are throwing a knife.” Alet tries to go back to their subject.

“Okay. Like this?” Io tries what Alet says and a water dagger flew and stuck to the ground.

“Wow, you are a fast learner. No wonder you get that certificate. All right, that's what we are going to learn today, I’m summoning the dummy targets.”. Tapping her right arm and a menu-like hologram shows up. This is the dueling field menu that can be accessed by the one that holds the field’s key.

“There, now try to hit the targets using fireballs right in the middle.” Instruct Alet.

“All right, here I go.” Io swung his hand and some of the fireballs hit the middle and some were missed. Alet gives Io several times to practice his accuracy. After about an hour, he finally can hit all the targets right in the middle.

“Hah hah, let me take hah- a break.”. Io panting after casting like a million fireballs.

“Okay, you can sit on the side of the field. I’ll be here practicing some magic.”.

Io walks slowly to the side of the field and sits on one of the benches. “That was crazy. I never thought that firing a fireball could be this hard. How can Alet throw it like it was nothing? She really is the master of all magic.”. While taking a break, Io sees Alet training in the middle of the field. He is hypnotized by her beauty and couldn’t look away even for a second. Not paying attention, suddenly a bright light flew toward him. With his great reflex, he dodge it. Turns out Alet is the one who throws it.

“Hey! Are you done taking a break? Stop staring at me! What are you a creep?” Alet shouts angrily.

“What is that for!? I’m about to get up and go back to practice.” Io shouted back. “She really is beautiful, ugh I can’t deny it. I guess I have to confess to her one day. Also what with that fireball!?” Io grumbled while walking back to practice. They stop practicing at twelve o’clock. Since it is summer time the heat is very hot during the day. After locking the dueling field, they decided to stop at a restaurant to have lunch. Since Alet doesn't have a vehicle yet, Io has to take her home every day.
