Chapter 38:

The Bitterness

How Not to Be a Medium

Cecilia got worried when I told her about how my double date had ended. The psychic was hoping for some nice, funny stories and not something so unpleasant. She suggested that Zoey come to her session to show her where she should look for her other half.

"Too early for that," I muttered. “She'll be ready for it eventually, but not yet, Cee Cee. You're not going anywhere anyway." We heard voices in the waiting room, followed by a loud rumbling in my stomach. "I was hoping I'd still be able to eat before the last guests," I muttered. "Why did they have to come almost fifteen minutes early," I muttered.

"Tell them you'll see them on time and that's it. I'll sit with them in the meantime," Cecilia said cheerfully.

I was just finishing my meal when she returned agitated, explaining to me that we must help these young people, especially the boy. He only came after a girl who, aware that he had a crush on her, kept him at a distance, explaining that she wanted to be friends. In fact, she made him a minion for herself and her friends.

"How do you know all this?" I asked hesitantly, thinking of a suitable plan if all of this turned out to be true.

"From their messages," Cee Cee said, indignant at my doubts. “The boy texted his friend that he was here and that he hoped she would hear something that would make her pay attention to him. And she talks about him and makes fun of him on the phone and waits for a sign that she's meant to be with Harry. As much as I hate girls like that, if I were still alive, I would treat her with a little curse when I said goodbye."

“Actually, I would support such an idea,” I replied. "But you can't do that anymore. All right, what we're going to do is invite the boy over first, tell him she's not for him. And when they change, we leave the door a bit open so he can hear everything and she doesn't suspect a thing."

"Do you think it will work?" she asked worriedly.

"We'll make her talk loud, I'll pretend I don't hear well or something," I muttered a bit nervously. "So what? Are we starting?"

"Yeah," Cee Cee said, her expression serious. “Actually, today is a good day for love spells."

I invited him in and sat across from him. He seemed nice and a bit flustered as if he didn't know why he had come here. I gave him a moment to get used to the place and asked what request he had for me.

"There are no specific questions, so it may be a general prediction," he replied a bit embarrassed.

I nodded in understanding and asked him to hold his hands out in front of him. I took them, guided by Cecilia, who stared at them for a moment, then smacked her lips in displeasure. I raised my eyebrows in surprise, which did not go unnoticed by the boy, who was clearly worried.

"You're going to live a relatively long life," I said, repeating after the psychic. "But be careful with your health, because it can often cause you problems. Love will bring you a lot of pain at first, but eventually, you will find the right person for you."

We wanted to add something else, but the boy interrupted us, saying that maybe he didn't want to know too much. I didn't blame him. I knew he didn't like what he heard. He got up to say goodbye, but I grabbed his hand.

"I feel like I should tell you that I have a very strong feeling that you should stay away from the person you came here with."
