Chapter 39:

The Fairness

How Not to Be a Medium

He pursed his lips but didn't say anything, just left agitated. Cecilia and I didn't even have time to comment on it, because the energetic and self-confident girl sat down in front of us and held out her hands. She ruined our entire plan before we even started it. I gave her an angry look, but she didn't mind.

"I want to know everything about my love life," she announced.

Cee Cee checked the door, luckily the girl didn't close it and with a slight effort, she opened it a bit more. I stared at her for a long moment, not only did she barge in here unannounced, but she was also bossy. I grabbed her hands and pulled her closer to me, she winced, tapping lightly on the table. I suppressed a smirk and let the fortune teller do the reading. I hadn't seen her so agitated in a long time, and I wondered what had put her in such a mood.

"Much happiness in the love sphere, a successful marriage, healthy relationships," I finally repeated reluctantly and understood what the problem was.

"Oh my god, really?!" she shouted excitedly. I didn't even have to make an effort for the boy in the waiting room to hear her. She took care of it herself. "I need to know who will be my husband. What is his name? When will we meet? Maybe we already know each other? How many children will we have? Will it be boys or girls?"

I looked at Cecilia, who motioned with her head for me to reveal the previously covered crystal ball. The psychic had pursed her lips and reluctantly joined the task. After a while she made me repeat after myself.

"The ball won't tell me everything about your future, but I'll try to satisfy your curiosity," I began. “I see a man beside you, but I don't know the details of his appearance, his face is blurred to me. He is well-built with dark hair and a large scar on his arm. The girl couldn't sit still. He holds the girl in his hands, and the boy tries to hide behind him. He has a drawing of your family in his hand, it is signed like "Dad H...", the rest of the names I can't read."

"I don't believe it! It has to be Harry, there is no other option! But you made me happy, I've liked him for so long. I knew from the beginning that we were destined for each other," she exclaimed.

"How I hate people like that," Cee Cee muttered. “She's hurting that poor boy intentionally, and she's getting everything she wanted. If I were still alive, I'd give her a little curse, just on principle, now I am sure of this."

"I can't say more," I said, standing up, signaling to her that she should get going.

The girl thanked me all the time, enjoying her happiness. Before she left, I stopped her, blocking her way with my hand on the doorframe. She looked at me surprised.

"You'll have everything you want. Leave the boy who came with you alone," I said in a threatening tone. "If I find out you're still using him or toying with his feelings, I guarantee you I'll curse you or send malevolent spirits to make your life miserable. Is it clear?"

"I don't know what you're talking about..." she replied with an innocent smile.

"Oh, you know too well," I growled and signaled Cecilia to put on a little show.

She dropped some items, walked quickly past us, and set some things in motion. The girl turned pale, and I think she finally realized I wasn't joking. She ran out, gathering her things in a hurry. I was glad that even though the boy had already left, I just hoped he didn't do it until he heard the truth.
