Chapter 0:

Fragment 00 : Prologue

Threads of Fate

"Many people have big dreams, but only a few are brave enough to pay the price to achieve them," those words floated through Hana's mind. Raindrops tapped rhythmically on the car window, their sound drowned out, forming patterns of water that swiftly reflected the city lights of Seoul.

Hana sat there, gazing at the lineup of skyscrapers in Cheongdam district, the most prestigious area in Seoul. She attempted to peer into each window, trying to capture glimpses of people's lives within. "What have they sacrificed? Money or time? Perhaps family relationships, love? Dreams or even lives? ... Yes, there are prices far more valuable than mere money."

She glanced at the man sitting next to her, engrossed in his phone. Park Seo-Jun, a young man with a captivating charisma. This city was his natural habitat, and even here, he appeared more enchanting than the scenery outside. Hana wondered, born into wealth with looks that exceeded the standards of a K-pop idol and exceptional intelligence, did someone like him still need to pay a high price for his dreams? And the subsequent question arose, "Is he happy?"

Meanwhile, Jun stopped typing on his phone and turned towards Hana, speaking in a heavy English accent. "Miss Hana, do you have any specific fashion brand preferences?"

"Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Chanel? Or something more hip?" Jun offered choices as he noticed Hana's flustered state.

"Um, Louis Vuitton," Hana answered hastily.

"Apgujeong-ro uhoejeon, please," Jun instructed the chauffeur driving the sedan. The car veered right, entering the sparkling Apgujeong-ro street. Luxury restaurants, high-end fashion boutiques, and other elite establishments lined both sides of the road.

The surreal scenery overwhelmed Hana's thoughts. Four months ago, none of this could have been imagined, not even in her wildest dreams. She clutched the documents tightly, which had been resting on her lap. For Hana, these papers were even more precious than a Louis Vuitton evening gown or even Jun himself.

"I, too, have paid a high price for all of this," Hana pondered silently.
