Chapter 7:

A True Feeling

Redframe (Pre-edit)

I could see both Madam Kelster and Tiaria looking at each other confused. After a moment Tiaria seemed to have a startling realization.

“Yu! You need to stop using magic now before it’s too late!” Tiaria yelled with great concern in her voice.

“I’m not sure what you mean.” I looked around at myself a few times trying to process if I was somehow doing something magical.

Tiaria shifted uncomfortably. “You may not remember this Yu, but after the passing of Lord Eg’skar and the god of the earth, there is no longer natural magical energy in the world. Everyone is born with a set amount of magical energy gifted to them by Lord Ariet. However, once one burns through the magic gifted to them they can no longer use magic. If you are accidentally using magic right now you are burning up your precious gift.” Tiaria seemed to be trying to summarize a very large story into just a few sentences.

“Madam, perhaps you could help Yu figure out what kind of magic he is using in order to help him stop?” Tiaria looked back and forth between me and Madam Kelster. She seemed to be getting more and more nervous every second.

“In the old days perhaps, but not any longer. I think you could help him stop, though.” Tiaria nodded several times in response to Madam Kelster’s suggestion.

“Okay, what do I do?” Tiaria seemed to suddenly get very serious.

“First, take both of his hands with yours.”

Tiaria looked towards me with a very serious face and grabbed both of my hands, holding them in hers.

Madam Kelster nodded her head. “Good, now hold both of your arms out while holding hands and close your eyes.”

Tiaria closed her eyes and I followed.

“Good, now, both of you reach out with your magic through your hands until you touch the other person’s magic.”

I flinched a little bit at that instruction and opened my eyes for a moment. “Sorry Madam, I don’t actually know how to do that.” I gave a little laugh.

“That’s no problem, Tiaria is well trained enough to make up for that. Tiaria, reach out until you feel his magic and then pull it into yourself.”

Tiaria’s face tensed up as she seemed to try to follow the instructions given to her. Her eyes were squeezed tightly closed. I closed my eyes again.

“Yu, imagine that the only two things in this entire world are yourself and Tiaria. Don’t think about anything else. Let her in.” Madam Kelster slowly trailed off her voice.

I followed her instructions, imaging two shadows in a world of blackness; Tiaria and myself. As I imagined this empty world I felt a warmth entering through my hands, slowly making its way up my veins. It was like the feeling of a warm rain, it was strangely soothing.

“Yu.” Tiaria’s voice was soft. “Tell me if it hurts at all.”

“It actually feels kind of nice.” I said with honesty.

“Don’t be weird.” Tiaria said with a sigh.

“How is that weird?” I asked honestly.

I could now trace the warmth back that had entered my body into Tiaria’s body. I could feel a warmth wringing around inside of her, moving along her veins and nerves. I could tell Tiaria was blushing by the movement of the warmth into her cheeks.

“At times like this I’m glad you don’t have your memories. Now what Madam?”

“Intertwine your magic with his, I trust you have found it?”

“Yes Madam.” Tiaria answered. “It’s different than I have ever seen before, uh, not that I have done this with many people besides you and my father.”

“Different how?” Madam Kelster inquired.

“It’s blue, and feels slower than normal. It’s not shying away from my magic either, it’s fully intermingling without me forcing it.”

I was entranced by the warmth coming from Tiaria, I couldn’t help but dive deeper and deeper into her magic, it was like I was touching her very soul.

“Yu, stop.”

“What?” I asked

“You’re overpowering my magic by diving towards me, It’s making it hard for me to examine what kind of magic you are using, also it kind of tickles.”

“Sorry.” I replied

“So that’s it.” Madam Kelster said with enthusiasm. “Tiaria, you can stop now.”

The warmth flowed back out of me like a receding tide until it all reached Tiaria. I opened my eyes and Tiaria did the same.

“Yu is constantly using a high level regeneration spell, Tiaria how much magic did he have left?”

“A lot.” Tiaria said confidently.

“Good. Okay, Yu, I need you to take that feeling of your own magic that was just touched by Tiaria and shrink it down until it all fits into your heart.”

I concentrated deeply, introspective of my magic, visualizing the complex inside of my inner universe. Suddenly I could see a glint of blue and I understood the magic inside of me. I squeezed the blue drape into a ball inside of my body.

“Good.” Madam Kelster said. “You did it, you have stopped constantly using the regeneration spell.”

I felt a little dizzy, but I could feel that I was no longer circulating the magic around in my body anymore.

“You honestly are pretty amazing Yu, to be using such a spell subconsciously and so efficiently.” Tiaria said.

“I agree.” Madam Kelster replied.

“I’m hungry.” I added. Really, although it had not seemed like long it had been several hours.

Tiaria and Madam Kelster looked at me before both laughing.

“Well Tiaria, you should go eat with the boy before you tell him your proposal.”

“Madam…” Tiaria seemed annoyed at what the Madam had said.

Tiaria ran over to me, grabbing me by my robe, as usual, and pulling me towards the same entrance we had come in through.

“Tiaria.” I said looking at her eyes.

Tiaria looked back at me.

“Yes, Yu?”

“Your magic was really beautiful and warm.” I said honestly.

Tiaria stopped and blushed a bit before starting up her walk again.

“Yours was kind of cold, but it also felt really reassuring.”
