Chapter 6:
Strawberries, Cherries, and an Angel's Kiss in Spring
I was on my way to homeroom before school started when I saw Ichigo sitting on the field, her back was towards me so I decided to prank her. I made sure I was really quiet before I started to creep up behind her.
“BOO!” I yelled while grabbing her shoulders.
“Ahhh!” she screamed, the notebook she was holding flew up and I caught it before it landed on her head.
“Argh! Idiot! Don’t do that again!” she scolded me, her hand on her chest right above her heart.
“I’m sorry, but it was too hard to resist,” I laughed.
“I’ll get you back for that,” she grumbled.
“Okay,” I chuckled.
I looked at the notebook in my hands and back at her, raising an eyebrow I held it up, “What’s this?”
“Oh,” her eyes widened as she realised, she wasn’t holding her notebook.
“It’s nothing. Can I please have it back?” she asked.
“Hmm,” I wondered, I knew I should give it back and the look she was giving me made me want to give it to her, but I was in the mood to mess with her even more.
“I will. If you tell me what this is,” I smirked.
She gasped a little at my question, her eyes widened and her face went a little pinker.
“It’s not a diary, is it?” I asked.
“No, I don’t have the patience or the willingness to keep a diary,” she shook her head.
“Oh. Then you wouldn’t mind me reading it then,” I told her and watched as her eyes bugged out.
“What?!” she yelled and tried to get the diary, but I was taller and faster.
I quickly opened the notebook, “Let me worship you,’ he said. His request felt sinful and devious, and she revelled in it. She answered, ‘Yes’” I read out loud.
I looked at Ichigo whose face was as red as her hair, she was looking down at her shoes, I swallowed before I could ask her any questions, she beat me to it.
“imwritingabook” she mumbled quickly and quietly.
“Huh?” I asked, partly because she was too fast and partly because I couldn’t hear a word she said.
“I-…” her voice croaked so she cleared her throat before she started again.
“I’m writing a book,” she answered my question, slower and clearer this time.
My eyes widened as I looked between the lines I had just read and the bashful girl standing right in front of me, “You naughty girl.” Ichigo squirmed at my comment and once again tried to reach for the book but I held it a little higher.
“Who would have thought a good girl like you, would write something like this,” I smirked.
She looked at me, there was a look in her eyes which meant that the embarrassment she felt mere seconds ago had vanished and was now replaced with something a little more… defensive.
“This coming from the guy who reads about girls with big boobs and big asses flaunting their goods to get whatever guys they want,” she narrowed her eyes.
“Hey that’s not fair,” I pointed.
“It’s not ALL books that I’ve read,” I made myself clear.
“Fair. But it’s most of them,” she rolled her eyes.
“Still, I don’t write books about… this,” I waved her notebook.
“No but I’m sure you do read them,” she placed her hand on her hip.
“And you know what? I’m not ashamed of my book. There’s nothing wrong with a girl enjoying a little… erotica!”
“Oh really?” I asked, holding back a laugh.
“Yes, it’s just a healthy expression of female sexuality. Which by the way is something that you will never understand!” she told me while managing to grab her book out of my hands.
“Ohhh okay,” I chuckled.
She stuffed the book in her bag and turned to look at me.
“What?” she asked.
“Hmm,” I raised my eyebrows.
“Why are you making that face?” she pointed.
“What face?” I shrugged.
“That smirky,” she stepped back a little.
“No reason,” I took a step forward.
I kept walking forward slowly and she kept walking back until her back hit a tree, I leaned in a little before whispering, “I’d love to read what you wrote, even if it’s lemon.”
I stepped back to see her eyes open in surprise as she gasped while looking at me, her face just as red as it was before, if not even more now, I have to admit I loved seeing her like this and the fact that it was me making her feel this way made me feel even better.
“Are you okay, Ichigo,” I asked, smiling sweetly.
“Shut up! Shut up! Shut up!” she held her head in her hands and yelled.
I laughed, little miss Akabane Ichigo also has a bit of a dirty side, heh, who knew?
“You will not tell anyone about this!” she said to me as we walked to homeroom together.
“Never,” I crossed my heart.
While the teacher was talking, I glanced towards Ichigo who was quickly scribbling in her book. She had a very serious look on her face with her eyebrows scrunched, eyes narrow, and lips in a slight pout, she looked adorable.
She stopped for a bit, tapping her pencil against her chin lightly before continuing again, I guess she was getting more ideas for her book. I wonder if she was going to dive deep into the dirt at the start or if she was going to take her time and write the details.
She stopped writing and looked my way, I widened my eyes and quickly turned to make it seem like I was listening to the teacher this whole time, but I think I’m busted because I could feel eyes on me from my left side for a while before I didn’t.
My phone pinged and I saw Ichigo’s name pop up along with a message at the bottom.
“It’s rude to stare.”
“I wasn’t staring.”
“Oh, so I was just imagining you gawking at me while probably thinking about the stuff that I was writing *smirky*
Crap!
“I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
“Suuuuuure.”
I put my phone away and listened to the teacher for a few more minutes before I heard another ping.
“Urgent book club meeting!”
“Why? What happened?”
“I have an idea and I need your help!”
She has an idea?
Oh no.
She’s not going to experiment on me for content for her book, is she?
I gulped before replying.
“No, thank you.”
“What? Why?”
I looked at her to already see her looking back with a confused expression and I could see the gears turning in her head before her eyes quickly widened before she started typing again.
“Oh, God!
No!
Not for the reason you might be thinking!
Eww!
No!
It’s something else.”
“Okay.
Clubroom after class it is *smiley*”
“Yayyy! *Smiley and red heart*”
I chuckled before putting my phone away, the lecture ended 15 agonising minutes later, I swear I was trying so hard not to fall asleep and I could feel my eyes starting to close.
“Finally,” I mumbled while letting out a yawn.
I stretched before slowly starting to pack away my things.
“Hurry up,” I heard and saw Ichigo at the end of my table looking at me,
I jumped a little I could have sworn she was still packing away her things when I looked at her.
“Where did you come from?” I asked.
“There,” she pointed towards her desk.
“Now hurry up!” she bounced on the balls of her feet.
“Okay, okay,” I told her before yawning again.
“Uff, here take this,” she opened her bag and gave me a can of juice.
“You sure?” I asked.
“Yeah, I’ve got two,” she grinned while taking another one out.
“Thanks,” I took it from her.
“No probs, now are you ready?” she asked.
I nodded while opening the can, it popped and fizzed as I pulled the little tab up from the top. We walked and drank the juice before we got to the clubroom, the walls were filled with posters, and the board still had the list of book club names we were thinking of and forgot to rub off. We sat down and I waited for Ichigo to say something.
“So, why did you call for an urgent meeting?” I asked.
“Why don’t we write a book together?” she told me.
“What?” I asked, confused.
“Yeah. We both LOVE reading, why not use what we know and create our own story? It’ll be both fun and special. And if it’s good enough we can get it published!” she announced, excitedly.
“I don’t know, Ichigo,” I shrugged.
“Come on, please,” she gave me the puppy eyes.
“Okay, fine,” I smiled.
“Yay! So, partners?” she extended her hand.
“Partners,” I shook her hand.
Another Sakurai-Akabane partnership is about to happen, well one thing is for certain, history will NOT repeat itself!
