Will It Change?

As the days went by, the midterms got closer and closer. Then after midterms, there was all that entrance exam and finals stuff too. Students generally get afraid of entrance exams but, not so surprisingly, I didn't care about them even a bit. Just plenty of self-confidence at work here. It is not like I have to ace the entrance exam or something, just passing it is enough and I know I can do that without much problem.

The real problem right now is the bet. I don't think I will lose the bet, but I don't know anything about how good Kayo is in her studies. So I think I have to study harder, even harder than I will for the entrance exam probably. I don't have any problem with spending the money but by making that bet, she has challenged my abilities now. I ain't gonna step back from this.

Well, we both continued with our studies and occasionally made some short videos of going here and there in the city in between. And finally, the time for the midterms arrived. Sure enough, I did pretty well in all of them so I don't think she should be able to get ahead of me.

"Finally! The midterms are over." She expressed her happiness as we were going back home. "I will let you know that I did really well in these tests. Get ready with your money!"

"I ain't going down without a fight."

"Hehe! We'll see. So what are going to be our next videos?" With exams over that was certainly a point to be pondered.

"Well, we can make the Christmas vlog video. After that, the first sunrise of the year and the first shrine visit of the year too. I think we have plenty of stuff to do for now."

"Those are a lot of ideas right there."

"We need ideas to make videos so of course we need a lot of them too."

"But what are we going to record on Christmas?"

"Hmm? Aren't we gonna go around the city on Christmas Eve so we are just gonna record that."

"Is it necessary to make a video on Christmas?"

"It isn't but... you don't wanna make one?"

"I was thinking we should just enjoy that day and forget about this video stuff." That was unexpected. Was she losing her motivation for this now? Well, I guess a break doesn't really matter.

"Well, we won't make a video on Christmas Eve then."

"Really? Yayyy!" Weird thing to be happy about.

I guess all that was left for now was to wait for the results to come out. It didn't take late for that. After a week, the results were out. As those who failed were groaning because of the make-up classes they will have to take I walked to see the results with pretty confidence.

That was a close 1st. Rather Kayo was a lot closer to me than I thought she would be. Right then, Kayo came too.

"Looks like I won," I informed her of my win.

"Huh? How?" Playing dumb now I guess.

"Look there, I am clearly above you."

"So?" Alright now I was getting a little pissed.

"I won because I scored more than you. That was the bet wasn't it?"

"Was it again? Try to remember what I said again." Was I forgetting something?

As my mind flew back to that conversation, I tried remembering exactly what the bet was.

"If you don't get first place and rank below me then—"

"Wait, Don't tell me-"

"You finally caught on? Yeah, the bet was that you had to get the first place which you didn't so it's my win."

"Then what was even the point of saying that 'and rank below me' part?"

"Well, of course, to make you misunderstand." This sly idiot.

"Conditions unclear. The result is a draw."

"Huh?! Don't get scared now."

"Who is getting scared? You are the one who tried to cheat by creating loopholes."

"Cheat? How is this cheati-" *Slam* Two attendance registers hit our heads. The teacher was standing there.

"Don't argue standing here. Go back to your class." Apparently, while we were busy arguing all the other students already went back to their classes so we were looking like some fools arguing in the hallway.

"Yes, sir!" We both started walking back to class then he called again from behind.

"Also, Good work both of you." He said with a smile.

"Yes, sir!" We both replied with a smile and continued to go to the class.

In the end, it was established that we will both pay but I will pay more than her.

"I am home," I said as I entered my house.

"Welcome back." My mom said from the kitchen. "Today was the result, right? How did it go?"

"487. 2nd Position."

"Good Work. Let's go out to eat tonight."

"Yay!" It's been a long time since we did that.

"So? What happened with the bet?" No wonder she knew since we did notify about it on our channel.

"Well..." I told her about how things went. "Seriously, she is one sly airhead."

"Haha! She really got you there. So, you going on a Christmas date?"

"It isn't like that!!" I said, kind of embarrassed.

"Yeah, yeah. It definitely isn't." Now even she is teasing me.

"Yeah, it isn't."

"Why don't you invite her here sometime to eat?"

"I guess I can do that."

"You should. She might become your girlfriend after all. I need to meet her too."

"Mom!! I told you it isn't like that." As I said this, I ran back to my room.

It isn't like that... but will it remain the same? Will our relationship just remain the same? Will it change? I shrugged these thoughts aside and went on to make a post about notifying about the results of the bet and the fact that we won't be making any Christmas Eve video.
