Chapter 10:

Omurice and Cold Maid Girl

Love in Real Life Game

A few moments later, my food arrived.

“Master, your omurice is ready,” Ayame announces, placing the plate in front of me.

"Wow, the smell is so delicious," I say, sniffing the aroma.

“Please enjoy your food, master,” Ayame says with a smile.

I'm about to dig in when something catches my attention. I pause and look at Ayame with a puzzled expression.

“Wait a minute, Ayame,” I interjected.

“What’s the matter, master?” Ayame asks, curious about my sudden interruption.

"Uh, you didn't do anything like a maid normally does, you know?" I point out, my eyes glancing at someone behind me.

Ayame turns around to see who I'm referring to. There, another customer and a maid are engaged in some sort of chanting spell directed at their food.

“Follow me master, put your hand together, make heart shape with both your hands, and follow what i am saying after.”

The customer followed instructions from the maid.

“Ready master, moe moe kyun!” Maid says while making heart shape with her hands.

“Moe moe kyun.” The customer follows what the maid did.

“Thank you, master, enjoy your food” The maid bows before leaving the customer.

I looked at Ayame, expecting her to do exactly what the maid behind me was doing.

“I won’t do that embarrassing stuff!”

“Let me see, in the menu, it says that the omurice comes with a special chant,” I said, pointing to the description on the menu.

Ayame sighed, her expression showing her reluctance. "Fine, come on, master. Follow me," she said in a flat tone.

I couldn't help but smile, hoping to see Ayame break out of her usual serious behaviour. "Come on, Ayame, be a little more energetic!"

With a lackluster tone, Ayame muttered, "Moe moe kyun."

“Thank Ayame, the omurice will be tasteless now.” I sneered.

Ayame rolled her eyes, clearly not amused. "Whatever! I didn't get paid enough for this," she muttered, her voice tinged with annoyance as she turned to leave.

"Hey, Ayame, wait!" I called out, not wanting her to leave in such a sour mood.

Ayame stopped and turned back to face me. "What now, Valdo? I don't want to do any more embarrassing things," she replied with a hint of frustration.

“Isn't it normal for a maid to draw something on the omurice when they serve it?” I asked, hoping to convince Ayame.

“Uuuh fine! I'll do it. Let me grab a ketchup bottle first,” Ayame grumbled in response.

Ayame walked away from my seat, heading towards the kitchen to get the ketchup.

While I waited for her, I took out my phone and started browsing the latest news about anime and games to keep myself entertained.

A few moments later, Ayame returned, holding a ketchup bottle in her hand.

“Hello, master. What would you like me to write?” Ayame asked, her tone still laced with irritation.

“Write whatever you want," I replied nonchalantly, still engrossed in my phone.

“Geez, ungrateful bastard!” Ayame muttered under her breath, her frustration evident.

I looked up, catching her remark. "What did you say?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.

Ayame quickly backtracked. "Nothing! Just focus on your phone," she replied, trying to play it off.

Ayame carefully finished writing the omurice with ketchup, creating a cute design on top, and placed the plate in front of me.

“Here we go, enjoy the food, master,” she said with a hint of pride in her voice.

“Thank you, Ayame. You can go now,” I said, waving my hand to signal that she could leave.

With anticipation, I picked up my spoon and took a bite of the omurice. To my surprise, the flavours melded together perfectly, creating a delicious combination. I couldn't help but praise it.

“It tastes delicious,” I exclaimed, a smile forming on my face.

“Because it was made by me.” Ayame whispers while closing her mouth with hand.

“What did you say?” I ask while looking at Ayame

“Eh nothing nothing, enjoy your food.” Ayame bows, leaving my table.

While I was eating the omurice, I noticed that she had written something different than usual.

It said ‘I love u’ but the u is crossed out with an ‘x’.

There's something interesting about maid cafes, they used to have their maids draw something like this on the meals. It's a bit detailed, but also cliched in many ways.

Whatever, I just eat it anyway.

I enjoyed the food, it was very tasty, unlike the usual omurice. I usually don't like omurice because there's no mixture of meat or vegetables in it, it’s just rice and eggs. Usually there is no seasoning on the dish, but not this one. I could taste the love that the chef imprinted with their seasoning on this serving of omelette.

It tastes a little spicy, but thanks to the ketchup Ayame put in before, it tastes less spicy.

After a while I finished eating the omurice that was served and hurriedly called a maid.

"Excuse me, could you please call the maid who serves me this omurice?" I call one of the maids as I raise my hand.

A maid came to my table and said, "As you wish, Master.”

A few moments later, Ayame also came out with an angry tone and said, "What do you want?"

"You should be polite, I am the customer here, Ayame. Should I call your boss?"

Ayame took a deep breath and said, "Sorry, Master. Do you need anything else?"

“In the pamphlet, it said that the maid will entertain the customer, so where is it?”

"Yes, this is the service." Ayame says with a smile.

“What do you mean this is service, you basically stare at me and smile at me like nothing,” I say.

I scratch my head and say, "So this is your dark job outside of school?"

"This is not a dark job, you know, this is just a part time job."

"Interesting, a student who is praised for her achievements and skills is working as a waitress in a maid cafe, is that good to hear?"

Ayame smacked the table, stood up in a flash and said in a loud tone "Just so you know, I'm here, living alone, away from my family, and you as a stranger have no right to interfere."

I gave a gesture to look around.

"Sorry everyone, sorry to disturb your time, please continue your activities."

Ayame sat back down, and remained silent for a while.

"Sorry for going too far," I said with a guilty tone.

"It's okay, I'm fine with it, it's just the usual thing that happens to me."

Ayame also crossed her arms and said “I also apologise for being rude to you, on that day, because of a complicated problem.”

"Eh it's okay, if you don't want to talk, I'm leaving now."

"Wait, just a little info, what I said before is true, I'm here living alone, away from my family because of a problem, so I decided to live alone and work to earn money here." Ayame says.

Ayame said with tears in her eyes, "Even though it's a bit embarrassing, I have no choice. I do whatever I can to survive in this life.”

"Alright enough, if you don't want to open old wounds, it's okay, let's not discuss it anymore, let's just make peace now" I reached out to shake her hands.

Ayame wiped away the tears and said, "We're even today, no hard feelings, and please don't tell anyone about this."

"Deal I promise" I said with a smile. We both shook hands.

After that, I paid for my meal even though it was a little painful to give up my money for lunch this week. But it's a small price to pay for knowing something we don't know.

As I went separate ways from Ayame at the maid cafe, I looked at the clock and it was already past 6pm. I hope I don't get punished for being late
