Chapter 1:

Encounter

RAIN

Volume 1

It had stopped raining now.

She had lost track of time as she kept working till 4:30 am in the morning. She looked through her window and saw that light would be there soon. She remembered that she had to go home now to sleep because she had another day at work tomorrow.

She left her office. She didn't own a car yet. She would have to walk home now. Her apartment was at a little distance from her office and walking would make her tired. She sighed.

She was at the Pont Des Arts, when a cool fall wind blew and the file which she held under her arm so smoothly, blew away with it. She ran after it to catch it but someone else had already caught it for her.

She saw him as the tall male swiftly caught her file and gave it to her. He had dark black hair with highly attractive hazel eyes and a symmetrical face with high cheekbones and a sharp jawline. He wore a blue shirt and black jeans under a black wool coat. He gave the file to Aria as soon as he realized he was blushing while looking at her. She had brown eyes, with pale skin, and pink lips. She had shoulder length hair, which were light brown in color and were left open. She softly smiled at him.

"Thank you," she said.

"You're welcome," he said.

She left him behind as she walked ahead of him. She didn't knew what to say to him instead of thanking him.

"Walking home?," he asked.

"Yeah, I thought I shouldn't call an Uber," she said as she turned around.

"May I walk you home?," he asked.

"What?!," she said, blushing.

"I mean, you might need some company?," he said, raising his eyebrows, his ears turning red.

"Uh..ok," she said and smiled at him.

Her heart was beating fast. She was very attracted towards him and she could feel it.

When she had reached her apartment, she smiled at him.

"Wanna come in for a drink?," she asked.

"A drink? So early in the morning?," he asked.

"No, I meant something like a coffee," she said.

"Ah, why not?," he said.

She led the way on the stairs and then opened her apartment's door. It was a white and grey themed one and he liked the smell of jasmine that was everywhere, due to the air freshener that she had.

"Would you mind if I changed my clothes?," she asked.

"No, of course not. You should definitely get changed out of that blazer and skirt. Even your heels would be killing you," he said and smiled at her.

She nodded at him.

She changed out of her royal blue blazer and skirt into sky blue colored cotton shorts and camisole under a white oversized hoodie. She walked towards the kitchen and made some coffee for him and herself. He was sitting on the couch as his eyes roamed around her place.

"Do you like it?," she asked, as she put the coffee mug in front of him, on the table.

"Your apartment? Yeah, it's really cool," he said.

She sat down on a stool in front of him.

"So, what's your name?," he asked.

"Kingston, Aria Kingston," she replied.

"I'm Tim Lee," he said.

"Tim's short for Timothy?," she asked.

"Yeah. The coffee's amazing, miss Kingston," he said.

"T-thank you," she said, blushing.

"So you always work this late, miss Kingston?," Tim asked.

"Yeah, but only when I feel like it," she said, "What do you do, mister Lee?".

"I'm a bartender," he said.

"I'm a lawyer," she said, laughing.

"Why are you laughing?," he asked, a smile on his face.

"No, it's nothing. I just always wanted to talk to a bartender but you know, I'm a lawyer and people just sometimes avoid me," she said, smiling.

"I would never avoid you. You're too lawful to be avoided," he said, smirking.

 She blushed.

"Thank you for the coffee, miss Kingston," he said and put the mug on the tray.

"I'm happy you liked it," she said.

"I'll take my leave now. I'm glad to meet you," he said and stepped out of the door.

She stood by the door and smiled at him.

She watched him as he walked down the stairs. She sighed. She wanted him to stay a bit longer. It had been so long since she felt like she was going to miss someone.
