Chapter 11:
Two Moments of Life
***
With the third term starting, It was time for finals and entrance exams. Thus, all the students got busy with their studies. Of course, that includes us too. Also, with the New Year Sunrise video our channel officially completed all conditions for monetization. Thus, we had a party. Although, not the kind of party you are probably thinking of.
We, in general, just lazed around all day playing games, watching anime, and stuff with snacks and cake. Ever since we played games on Christmas Eve, Kayo started to enjoy them too. She was also progressively getting better. We only played RPG games for now.
That aside, after this we started studying for entrance exams of high school and hung out much less than before. We were applying for the same high school which was near our homes. Our middle school, compared to that, was a little far. Still, high school huh? Up until now I never really thought about this but we are about to graduate, huh?
"I wonder how it will feel like," I thought as I threw the Juice can in the trash bin near the vending machine and started walking back home.
"It's cold," I said in a slight voice with my hands in my pockets.
***
"Bet?"
"No bet!" I outright refused the idea of another bet.
"But why?"
"You will definitely try another wordplay."
"Hehe!"
"Don't hehe me. Besides the results are already out." We were standing outside the high school. The results of entrance exams were out and we were about to go see them.
"Yeah, so we can make a bet about whose scores are higher."
"I am not doing it again. Now, Let's go and see." I said with a slight chop on her head and started walking toward the board.
"Hey, Don't hit me." Kayo followed.
A lot of students were gathered. Some happy about their success and some crying about their failure. In short, It was a lot of rush so instead of shoving in the crowd I stood behind and tried to see my name from there. Obviously, I couldn't see. Meanwhile, Kayo slipped out from the crowd jumping with happiness, and told me she passed.
"Good work." I complimented her.
"What about you?"
"Haven't seen yet."
"Why?"
"I don't like crowds."
"So what? Are you planning on standing here all day? Go and check." She said while pushing me into the crowd. I guess I have to then.
"Alright, Alright." I went inside the crowd and after somewhat shoving I reached the front.
"So how did it go?" Kayo asked me as I came out of the crowd.
"Of course, I passed."
"Nice. Now let's play some games."
"Yeah, Yeah."

All the students were standing in lines in the school gym. The Student Council President just finished his speech. We all bowed and started leaving the gym. Students crying and hugging each other, some making photos, Some confessing to their crush, and so on. It was, of course, the graduation day.
Kayo and I just went to the roof and chatted there for some time. We didn't had any friends after all. When the school started to get empty, we went down. I asked her that I wanted to take a trip of school alone so she went separately.
I strolled around the hallways. Empty classrooms which will be filled with new students. Empty clubrooms which will get new members. I saw all of them as I was strolling around. I went into the library. Before the incident, I used to spend a lot of time in the library reading books. It has been a lot of time since I visited the school library.
I didn't have any club memories, any event memories, and so on. I spent almost all my middle school alone. Now it was time to say goodbye to it. The question that lingered in my mind was "Will my high school life be any different?"
I didn't know the answer to that. I couldn't have. Strolling around I was then in front of the infirmary. The place where I met Kayo 8 months ago. My life went on a totally different route since that day. What if she never transferred here? What would have my life been like? I didn't know.
I will probably... no, surely not miss this school. However, the one encounter I had here will stay with me my whole life. And, I hope the person too. I went inside the infirmary. Thought I would thank the nurse for everything but she wasn't inside. I thought I would leave but I had an idea. I took the pen out of my pocket and wrote a sentence on her Prescription Pad.
"This should be alright," I said to myself and then left the infirmary. I then walked back outside. Kayo was waiting there.
"You done?" I asked her.
"Yeah."
"Let's go then."
I turned back. No dramatic effect such as wind blowing or stuff happened.
"Goodbye," I said and left my middle school.

I came back to the infirmary from the staff room. The window in front of my desk was open. I went to close it and saw something written on the prescription pad.
Thanks For Everything.
-- Kazuki
"This boy," I said as I chuckled.
"Just be happy," I said as I looked at the clear sky.

I woke up as usual but one thing was different. I was now a high school student. I got up to get ready. Changed into my new uniform and went downstairs to eat breakfast.
"Good Morning." My mom was setting breakfast on the table.
"Good Morning," I replied.
"Ready for high school?" She asked.
"Yeah, I am."
"Now make a video on 'My first day in high school'." My dad said as he entered.
"I don't wanna get my mobile confiscated, so no." I completed my lunch.
"Goodbye," I said as I was about to leave.
"Take care." My mom replied.
As I came out I saw Kayo coming out of her house too.
"Coincidence?" She said when she saw me.
"Maybe," I shrugged and we both started walking towards our new high school.
