Chapter 201:

Snowfall Kingdom

Museworld

Once they got their fill of Gesus, much of everyone in that crowd went straight through the tube to Snowfall, and the sisters were one of the first in line.

It was a long march, but when they came out they weren’t disappointed. They’d heard tell of this place- they’d heard tell of snow- but seeing it… feeling it, was something else.

Out of all they’d witnessed in this park, this township felt the most realized and immersive among them, thanks in no short part to its unique climate. White fluff drifted out of the clouds in the icy light-blue sky, covering the ground in the sticky substance. They were so amazed, they didn’t have time to shiver in the cold. All they could do was look around at this new environment, and up at the giant blue castle of unmelting ice that gave this zone its name.

“I always wanted to go here…” Katie reminisced.

Soon enough however, the chill did reach them. All four of their bare knees buckled under its pinching weight. Thankfully, the park did account for this- right when you entered there were shops galore selling coats and what people once would’ve called winter wear.

They bought an outfit each- a costly purchase, to be sure, considering they’d seldom need it anywhere but here. Katie justified it, saying they’d be back here one day. For Frankie it was worth it not to freeze to death. She doubted they’d be able compete as popsicles.

Katie chose a wonderful deep purple coat-dress with black buttons and some thick tights to go underneath. Frankie went for something more practical- heavy cargo snow pants, plus a big long parka, both in dark olive. She was forced to abandon her flip-flops in exchange for some weighty boots instead.

They scouted the land, impressed by its size- there was a lot to do here, and it was all made prettier by the white blankets atop everything. It was a shame they wouldn’t be going on any of it.

They made sure to get a room for the night, and fast. The posters all around said Moonfall began tomorrow afternoon at two o’clock sharp. They’d get a good long sleep now and then make their preparations in the morning.

“I think… my bullet wounds are finally getting better. Boy am I thankful not to have to run for a day… not in the real world, at least.”

Frankie rubbed her hands together, already loving the warmth of the inside building. It looked like a lovely log cabin, complete with a Christmas tree- one Katie couldn’t help but stare at.

“Thinking about mom and dad?” Frankie asked.

“Yeah. Just a little.”

“Hey, relax. They’ll be proud of us for this, you know? When we win.”

Katie nodded, smile slowly rebuilding through her sadness.

“Absolutely.”

They slept well that night.
