Chapter 1:

A Civil War of Flavour - Prologue

Fruits & Veggies: A Civil War of Flavour

The fruit people had a deep seeded hatred for those “veggies” (as they commonly referred to the vegetable race), stemming millennia from the days of old they were always at odds. Long had they wished to rid these “veggies” from their native land of Fruitotakia, which hosted all races of fruits and veg, albeit typically the fruit stayed in the warmer climate in the south, and the vegetables spend their lives up in the colder climate of the north. Historically they had been two separate nations, but the “Baked bean” people had conquered and colonised their lands, and in blatant disregard for their land, lumped them together in one colossal cornucopia. There was a moment of hope in the 60s when the beanie scum left, but that was dashed away when the great cabbage coup of 68 occurred, leading to a long and brutal cabbagetatorship that took over, still in power today.

Since then we have been a long oppressed race, with them cutting our funding for the little seedlings, forcing us out of the middle states, and into special “fruity zones”, which in turn led to squalor and want, pushing us into poverty even deeper, while they extract our resources to enable their “veggie” needs. It all went to a head in 78’ with the great canker outbreak, with millions of great fruits perishing to the malevolent disease.

Ever since our people have been left in the mud, and we will stand for it no more, we plan to fight for what we see fit, a free democratic fruit empire, where our people can take control of our resources, and share amongst the fruit to better our lives. We will rid our country of all these “veggies” and we will gain our sovereignty. We will sight tooth and nail for our freedom, and with any luck, we will be free.
