Chapter 7:
The Cute Side of My Yandere Girlfriend
After having lunch, we continued our date at the amusement park. We move to the next destination one after another.
We get to try many attractions, but there are still plenty that we haven't had the chance to try. However, we had a lot of fun together.
For the last destination, Tsukinaga-san suggested we enter the haunted house.
"Er... I don't know, Tsukinaga-san. Do we have to enter it?"
"What? Are you afraid?"
"It's not like that. But I do have a weak heart, which means I'm bad with jump scare."
"They are the same."
"No, it's not. For example, if there is a ghost standing at the end of the hall, I don't find it as scary. But if the ghost suddenly appears right next to my ears, I'd be freaking out for sure."
"Okay fine, I get it. In short, you are afraid of getting into haunted houses."
My brows furrowed. I know that Tsukinaga-san is teasing me on purpose like she always did, and I know I shouldn't have taken the bait.
But I feel like my pride as a man will be hurt if I don't clear up the misunderstanding. So, I accepted her challenge and walked towards the haunted house.
The haunted house in this amusement park adapts to the abandoned school theme. It is said that the haunted house is quite well-built. Even from outside, you could hear the screams of people inside.
While we were standing in line, Tsukinaga-san touched my shoulder.
"Are you sure you're not pushing yourself? I mean it's fine even if we don't enter it."
Tsukinaga-san sounded worried. It seems she still felt bad about the previous event. She tends to tease a bit too much, but that does not mean she is a heartless person. So even after teasing me like that, she got cold feet herself.
"I told you it's fine. I'm not scared anyway. Worst case scenario, I'll just pass out."
"That's not fine at all!"
Spending time with someone you love certainly makes you forget about everything. Even merely standing in line and chatting casually makes the time pass quickly. Without realizing it, it's our turn to enter the haunted house.
After going through a dark alley, we are presented with a view of the school hallway. On the right side is the classroom while on the left are windows that show the school yard.
I don't know how they made it, but it all looks natural. I think they put some sort of backdrop painting behind the windows because there's no way they'd build an actual school here.
But at least they make the class real. I can even touch the knob and open the door to get inside the classroom.
In the first couple of minutes, no ghost has appeared yet. At most, there's only a flash of a shadow passing here and there, trying to play with our minds.
After walking through the hallway, we are faced with an intersection that is headed upstairs and downstairs. While I was thinking about it, I felt my clothes being pulled.
"Up."
I turned my head and found Tsukinaga-san speaking with a small voice. I didn't realize it until now, but ever since we entered the haunted house, Tsukinaga-san has been keeping quiet.
Is she scared? And after everything she said?
I wanted to tease her back so badly and turned the table. But I feel doing that right now is not a wise choice.
When I peeked down, I found a floor made of wooden planks. Maybe they're doing an old-school show down there because the environment looks ragged.
I don't know whether Tsukinaga-san knows about it or not, but it seems the lower floors have a higher level of difficulty.
When I was about to turn my head, I see a piece of paint on the wall made of blood.
"DEAD" is written there while pointing downstairs.
Yep. There's no freaking way I'm going down there.
Maybe they prepared a scarier floor for those who want to try it. But for me, I just want to finish without raising a white flag halfway. Therefore, the mediocre way is fine with me.
Following Tsukinaga-san's suggestion, I walked up the stairs.
Arriving at the top, I turned my head to the right and left. I didn't find anything different from the previous floor, a hallway with classes and windows on either side. Maybe only the configuration of the room was slightly different.
Not even five seconds since we reached this floor, we were greeted by a loud voice that made my heart skip a bit.
It sounds like a piano. When I looked up, I could see the class sign that said "Music Room".
I tried to walk closer and peek in the window.
Inside the classroom, a lot of musical instruments are scattered around. But what caught my attention the most is the grand piano in the middle of the room. While other instruments look old and dusty, the piano is still well-maintained.
While I was still investigating the room, another piano sound echoed. This time, it didn't stop after one beep but instead started playing a sinister song. What's more, I could see that the piano keys kept moving without anyone moving them.
A chill ran down my spine so I turned and walked away. I ignored the piano playing behind me and kept walking.
Hearing that melody made Tsukinaga-san stick even closer to me, as if she doesn't want to get separated. I could feel her warmth through my clothes, but I can't enjoy it with the situation we are in.
When we were far enough so the sound of the piano could no longer be heard, we stopped to catch our breath. As we did, the door beside me suddenly opened which made my heart leap once more.
Without looking at the signboard, I could tell what room this is by looking at what was inside.
The only room in the school where there are lots of beds. Yes, this is the infirmary.
Honestly, I don't want to go inside. But if I keep walking all the way out without trying anything, then entering this place will be a waste.
In the end, I mustered up the courage and stepped inside.
