Chapter 1:

The first contact with magic

Dragged into the rabeast hole

Well, here I am with the playful beast-woman. You would guess that having been ordered by the principal to teach me magic will make her hasty. But not, she seems to care more about her new plaything: me. She begins asking about my background. Can’t be helped, can it? I mean, I won’t lie to her but I think it’s best to tell the bare minimum so she can get the picture: I was at a party with my friends, stepped on a magic circle and the rest is history.

Just after telling her about it, the thought of my friends popped in my mind. Where are they now? And most importantly: how are they now? Witnessing my abduction is pretty extreme but being considered suspects of my disappearance must be devastating. Nessa notices me being lost in thought and inquires me about it. “I was just thinking about my friends, nothing more”. Then, it was her turn to explain her story. Fully opposite from me, she explains just about everything. I’ll try to sum it up: she is from a clan consisted of humanoid wolves. She wanted to enroll this school of magic but her clan didn’t let her. They are too proud of their combat prowess and find it ridiculous to take lessons from anybody else. Naturally, Nessa didn’t agree with that statement and decided to renounce the clan. She was banned from their territories and she cannot contact with anybody of her clan (and vice-versa) for the rest of her life. As long as she is not involved with anything regarding the clan, her life is safe.

“By the way, could you please teach me magic now?” I ask, with a little impatience in my tone. Don’t judge me, you want to learn magic if given the chance, don’t you?

“I just have to teach you the first type of magic. It’s easy stuff: you just imagine it and there you go.” she says while showing her hand. Immediately after, her hand is enveloped with blue fire. Ugh, that fire again… I thought. Then she switches her magic flame to ice.

“See? Easy” she added. “There is also lightning.” As she stated, her hand was now filled with bolts, dancing around her wrist and fingers. The bolts are growing in size making their humming more audible. I flinch as a caution. Seeing that, Nessa smirks.

“Ha, ha! Don’t worry! I won’t hurt you! And also I don’t want to be yelled again for property damage”. Again?! Well at least I must be glad to not being fried with lightning, I guess.

I directed my gaze to a window and saw a night sky. It was early morning before being summoned here. It makes sense seeing that I was brought to this world during class hours. “Is there any place to grab something to eat here?” I ask. I can fancy some snacks.

“Well, there is the school canteen but it only opens during daytime. Don’t worry, you won’t starve here. I was told that the whole school is filled with regenerative magic, so you won’t die from food or water shortage.”
“Maybe it can also heal wounds?”
“Care to test it out?” She says while showing a wild grin and adopting a battle stance. Uh-oh, so much for being glad to not being hurt. “HA HA HA HA HA.” She laughs. “I can’t stop teasing you! It’s so fun! ha ha!” She pauses to contain her laughter. “I already said that I don’t want to trash the bedroom”.
“Ah, yeah. You are right, heh heh…”

“So! We will fight outside!” Daaaaaamn!!! I internally screamed. She forces me to leave the dorm and walk to a nearby square.

“Hey, principal! We want to have a match.” Nessa proclaims while looking up. I peek at the direction of her gaze and see a big eye floating in the air with bat wings at its sides. “The school monitors you with this. Oh, shit! I was supposed not to tell you! Well, nothing can be done now.” She says nonchalantly.
“Ahem! I will grant you your match. You will be healed afterwards, so go all out. I will have you sent to a separate dimension in a minute” a voice was coming from the creature.
“Wait! Don’t I have a say in this?!?” I plead without avail as some seconds later we were sucked into a portal.

First thing I notice is that my school uniform changed into a tracksuit. Better this than nothing, but I am gonna die, am I not? Some meters across me was Nessa, also sporting the same tracksuit. She isn’t in a battle stance yet so I think she is not planning to attack now. “I will give you a couple of minutes so you can calm your nerves. See? I’m a good girl. Be grateful ha ha!” I take this opportunity to take deep breath while I look around the area. This dimension is filled with nothing besides the ground. I can move easily so the gravity force is not a concern. OK, deep breaths again. I won’t die. Calm yourself. Have fun there. You got this! I have to stay positive; being nervous won’t help at tall. I put myself in combat mode by keeping my arms and legs lightly flexed. Arms closed to my face to easily block hits to the head. Right leg slightly back. I’ve got this! Blindly launching at her is suicide so I wait for her to attack and then try to dodge or counter.

And then the battle begins. She is throwing some punches that are easy to dodge. Good! I dodged a punch with a motion that positions me just behind her. Quickly, I punch her in the back, but her tail blocks my fist. I jumped backwards to avoid her retaliation. I continued with this dodge and counter strategy for a while. I was successful in not getting hurt too much but the bad thing is that I didn’t do any damage to her.

It seems that Nessa grew impatient because she engulfed her fists with her signature blue fire. If it’s as she said, I just need to imagine the same thing and my hands will also be filled with fire magic, right? I did so and my hands filled with orange fire, since it was the first color that came to my mind when thinking about fire. Wow, it actually works! Can I throw fireballs like Myu Pong from Lethal Wombat video games, too? Only one way to find out… I motion my arms alternatively with my palms extended but couldn’t land a single fireball on Nessa, as she swiftly dodges them. Back to the original strategy the, now with magic fists.

After a few dodges I see an opening and land a fist on her solar plexus. She staggers for a little. I take this chance to launch a full fire attack with both hands extended. My orange flames covered her upper body. She jumps backwards to put some distance between us as she dispels my magic. Despite being a big exhibition of orange fire, my attack didn’t hurt her. Only her clothes took the toll. I can see her breast bouncing as she dashes forward towards me. Nice! No! Shit! I’m getting distracted! I can’t stop looking! My horniness will be the end of me, I swear. I won’t dodge it in time. Even blocking with my arms seems impossible. What do I do?!?! I sure as hell don’t want to get hit by that… The only idea I have is to try to block it with my forehead. I was called big head when I was little. Maybe my forehead is still as hard as then. Better that than having by mouth or nose broken I think. I ready myself and align my forehead to her fist. I close my eyes and wait for the impact. I mustn’t flinch. I will endure this. I’m sure I will, for my sake.

Cracking sounds must been heard in the whole dimension. Those sounds sure were nasty and loud as hell. I said that I won’t flinch but eventually I fell on my ass. I can feel something running through my face. As soon as it hit my mouth I know what that is. It’s blood. But whose? Hers or mine? I am too dizzy to think. I slowly start to getting up. I manage to do it. Now it’s time to assess the situation. I cannot see Nessa but hear a deafening howl. It looked like the whole dimension was howling. I feel something hit my chest carving its way inside of me. The energy that the hit carries explodes making my insides blow. IT HURTS! IT HURTS! IT HURTS! IT HURTS!!!!!!

* * *

“That was a good match, Reivax!” Nessa said.

“Eh… It doesn’t hurt anymore…” I replied as I was getting up. I am now in the square with Nessa, both wearing the school uniforms as it nothing happened. They healed us as promised. Good.

“It was a very interesting match, indeed.” the principal voice can be heard from that eye with wings monster.

“Thanks I guess…” Even healed, I felt tired. Too much shock for one day.

“Let’s go. Hee, hee. Tonight, I will sleep like a log!” Nessa said as she grabs my hand.

And so, we march to her dorm. Tomorrow will be another day, and very different from my previous days on earth; that’s for sure.
