Chapter 13:

His Competence

Becoming the Principal of Isekai School

The minutes passed silently in the principal's office. After Eiji explained about the school as well as what the curriculum was, Rae said yes in an instant. The elf made that curriculum in a matter of minutes, then gave it to Eiji.

The paper containing Rae's curriculum was lying on the coffee table, with Eiji, Sienna, and Anneth staring at it. The principal felt like he would break out in cold sweat the first time he read the paper.

First lesson:

I'll have the student pull the arrow using the string until it twang! Then swosh! The arrow flies and zap! It hit the target!

Second lesson:

Teach them to hold firearms and Pew! Pew! (Can I request not to teach this, please? I prefer to use a bow and arrow because it's more fun. I beg you very much)

And his handwriting is very inconsistent and messy. Eiji felt they looked like extraterrestrial codes instead of human writing.

"Damn." The principal rubbed his face. He really did not expect that he would meet such an individual face-to-face. Usually, Eiji only finds people with that level of comical stupidity from anime or manga.

Or is Rae just wanting to be rejected as a teacher? But why did he have to use this absurd method? Why not ask directly?

Moreover, he seemed eager to work here.

"In my opinion, his personality is good." Sienna grimaced, still eyeing the paper. "Students will definitely be excited to be taught by him."

Unlike his assistant, Eiji feels that trait can annoy people instead.

"I agree with you, Miss Bellucci," Sienna responded. "But with him like this…. I don't know."

Eiji leaned his back on the couch and stared at the ceiling. Should he turn down Rae, even if that elf wants to be a teacher at this school?

But Eiji was left wondering. Why would Rae wish to be an educator when he had no idea how to do it?

"So, what is your decision, sir?" Sienna asked.

Eiji massaged his forehead. "Let me think about this for a moment."

Rae scratched her hair outside of the school. After passing Kyoko's training course, he only found an endless expanse of empty land.

"You are the new teacher candidate, I guess?"

The elf looked in the direction where the voice came from, which was on the school's roof. Kyoko was crouching there, already wearing her usual tight bodysuit instead of yukata.

"Oh, hi." Rae waved at that woman. "Are you also the teacher here?"

"Yeah." The kunoichi jumped and landed in front of Rae. Instead of speaking, the woman puffed out her cheeks, bent over, and threw up.

"Are you okay?" Rae grimaced over the kunoichi's condition.

She wiped her mouth with the back of her hand. "That was a foolish thing to do. I shouldn't have done that maneuver in this condition."

"So, if you are a teacher, what do you teach? Acrobatics?" Rae spoke to the kunoichi. "Ah, I'm Rae. Rae Sharis. What's your name?"

"Kyoko. Just Kyoko." The kunoichi frowned, finding Rae's question odd. "No, I'm here in charge of infiltration and quick attacks. Or my people call it Ninjutsu."

Rae should have known from Eiji about the teacher's formation, so he wouldn't guess absurd things like Kyoko was an acrobatics teacher.

"I see. No wonder your move was so extraordinary." The elf nodded. "By the way, where can I meet my future students?"

Kyoko's chin dropped a bit. "We are still gathering all the necessary personnel, so we haven't accepted any students yet. Principal Sakazaki should explain that to you, right?"

The elf's mouth let out an awkward laugh. "I must have missed that explanation. How stupid I am."

Kyoko wonders if Eiji will hire this man. He can't even pay attention to what's important.

"How is it to be here?" Rae continued the conversation. "Apart from teaching, of course, because it hasn't started yet."

"It's good." Kyoko shrugged. "Principal Sakazaki thinks highly of his staff's well-being. He approved all the things I wished to order. I wanted a room that looked like my old one."

"Well, I have more reasons to work here, then. I think that Mr. Sakazaki is a good person." Rae raised his fist and stared at it with a big smile that showed his teeth. "And I will be a wonderful teacher for my students!"

Kyoko didn't understand why the man suddenly shouted like that.

"Mr. Sharis," Sienna called out to the elf as she walked over to him. "Mr. Sakazaki is calling you again."

"Oh, maybe Mr. Sakazaki wants to discuss my curriculum." Rae rubbed his hands together in anticipation. "I hope he doesn't give me too many revisions! Ah, I can't wait to teach those students!"

"What!? You have completed your curriculum?" Kyoko couldn't believe her own ears. She struggled hard and took a long time to complete the paperwork, but this newcomer could do it in a short time.

Sienna could only give a faint smile to the elf.

Rae and Eiji sat opposite each other in the principal's office, parted only by the work table. There was no one else in that room.

The elf's eyes widened. His joints felt so stiff, so he could only sit there with his body starting to shake.

"W-what did you say, Mr. Sakazaki?" The elf's breath began to falter.

"Once again, I apologize to you, Mr. Sharis." Eiji used a flat tone without intonation. "After much discussion, we have decided to send you back. You can't be a teacher here."

Rae shook his head with eyes started to tear up. "B-but I am already very excited to teach here, sir."

"It's just..." Eiji had prepared the words, but he still had a hard time conveying them. "Your ability has not met the standards we have built. That doesn't mean you're not capable, but…"

In the blink of an eye, Rae got up from the chair and prostrated on the floor. "I don't want to go back there! I will do any job for you! I beg you, don't throw me away!"

Eiji couldn't respond because he didn't expect that at all.
