Chapter 15:

A certain girl

Akira's Revenge

It wasn’t long when the massive news coverage of Akira’s incident had quieted down. It had already faded from the people’s conscious and was now barely mentioned on news papers. The people in Akira’s neighborhood had all moved on as they went about their lives.

One house in particular was currently haunted by a certain alarm that went off loudly in one of the rooms.

The room the alarm was in belonged to a young adolescent. A certain girl, still sound asleep despite the alarm ringing near her ear. The alarm suddenly went silent but after a minute it began to make noise again.

Despite how many times the alarm repeated, the girl showed no sign of waking up. Then after the alarm was about to start for the fifth time, the door swung open with quite a force, a figure stood there with quite the intimidating aura enveloping around them.

The suspect in question, was the girls older sister. A vein had popped on her head as she grinded her teeth violently. Slowly but surely she walked towards her younger sister, who was far from awake.

When the older sister finally reached the girl's bedside, she got into position and held her right arm in front of her at a ninety-degree angle. After tapping her elbow a few times, she jumped into the air. As she fell down, she placed her arm exactly above her younger sister's belly.

“Don’t use an alarm if you’re not waking up anyway!” she yelled the moment her elbow touched the girl's belly, the older sister began to push her elbow deeper into her younger sister's abdomen.

When the painful sensation finally registered, the girl woke up in shock, screaming her lungs out in pain.

“What was that for?!” the girl yelled as she pressed her hand against the place she was hit, she felt a burning ache at her core.

“What’s the point of having an alarm if you’re sleeping through it.” the older sister said whilst her arms rested on her hips. Instead of listening to her sister, the girl, whose name was Aiko, ducked further into her blanket, covering her entire body.

Slightly pissed at her younger sister, Arisu, who was Aiko’s sister, grabbed onto Aiko’s blanket and threw it to the side. Immediately after, she held onto the back of Aiko’s shirt, slowly dragging her out of her room.

“Welp, since you decided to wake everybody up with your antics, it’s in your best interest for you to do the same.” Arisu said as her sister began throwing a tantrum, demanding Arisu to let her go. However Arisu didn’t budge one bit and continued dragging Aiko away into the hall.

Aiko was desperately holding on to whatever she could grab, but it was for naught. Aiko began to cry as she had to say goodbye to her cozy bed for the entire day.

After Aiko grudgingly took a shower, and got dressed, she went downstairs to the diner table. Her father, mother and sister were already sitting there, eating their breakfast when they finally noticed Aiko standing there.

“Look who decided to finally come down,” the one who made that comment was Aiko’s father, who chewed down on some bread. He pointed at the empty seat next to Arisu, a plate full of nutritious meals on it laid there as well.

“Eat up before it gets cold.” Aiko’s father added as he took a sip from the mug in his right hand, cleansing his throat with hot coffee. Aiko listened to her father, and went to empty spot to take a seat.

There she began nibbling on some toast that laid on the plate in front of her. After she had eaten it, her next victim was the omelet seasoned with pepper. As she was eating, it was then that her mother spoke to her.

“Do you have everything ready for when you leave?”

The reason she asked this was that Aiko would start university today. Aiko moved her gaze to her mother, as she swallowed the content in her mouth.

“I have everything prepared since last night, so I’m all ready.” Aiko said as she got up from her seat. She immediately ran for her room upstairs.

“Well, someone’s eager to go.” Aiko’s mother commented as she placed the palm of her hand against her cheek, her husband giggled slightly after hearing her comment.

Right after Aiko had gotten dressed, wearing her uniform, she went downstairs to the front door and put on her shoes. After she had stood up, her schoolbag held in her right hand, she turned around, her parents were standing before her.

“I’m going!” Aiko said as she opened the door and went outside, her parents waving out to her. Aiko was heading to her destination. After a fifteen minute walk, she had arrived at the university.

Slowly, Aiko began feeling anxious as her legs trembled. To calm herself, Aiko took a deep breath.

After she had ironed her resolve and calmed her mind, she began walking into the university with a wide smile on her face. It was after all the moment she’d waited her entire life for.

And thus her first day of school began, after going to her assigned classroom and a brief introduction, she quickly assimilated into the class, making several friends already.

The memories Aiko had made that day were forever engrained into her heart. She didn’t know what the future had in store for her, but no matter what it was, Aiko would live every moment to the fullest with a bright smile.
