Run for Life

Brenda's POV:

Brenda Scarlet Valentine is the name, and ruling this kingdom is the ambition. Those are my signature words.

I was like always looking for magical beasts to hunt, hoping them to drop some magical gems so I can sell to get more incomes for my future fees in Tyrra's magical academy. It might sound weird for people from my original world to see a 10-years-old girl looking for monsters to hunt, but in this world it's normal since I am a fire mage, and a famous one for killing a Cerberus two years ago in an attempt to defend myself. That caused my family to rise from poor to mid class. Yes, in this kingdom called Tyrranosia, just like how the name sounds we are living under Tyrant's rules. The strong do eat, the weak are just meat. Age, gender, family name all doesn't matter, only strong people can live here, while the weak should be killed or banished.

The reason for my great power is my faith in the person I love and that we will reunite, and the advice and tasks rewards I got from my magical mirror. Since birth, the newborn has been given a magical tool from his parents to use in his life. For me, my mirror is an heirloom passed by my father's ancestors.

*Ding ding* I heard the mirror ringing so I had to make a stop to check it."Merlin, what is the task this time?" I asked. The mirror lit up and showed the mysterious woman that raised me since birth with her wisdom and advice "In the dead beasts forest, there's a traveler from another land. Save him and you shall get your reward. Also, you will get closer to reunite with your lover."Hearing her mention my lover, my heart couldn't stop beating as excitement washed over me. Turning to my little companion Piopino which was a peaceful magical beast that looked more like a cat or slime, I announced our new mission "Forget about magical beasts, I'll find one later! Our visitor needs saving so let's hurry!" "Piopino!"

Genji's POV:

I was in a serious danger yet I felt paralysed with fear. In the last moment before the giant fist fell and crush me, I was able to roll and dodge it. I'm sure I was going to be crushed by the look of the traces left on the ground, but I got no time to praise my predator. All I was able to do was run while cursing the person that brought me here. Hiding behind the trees sounded like a good Idea since that giant piggy can't see small things well, but it wasn't an option because after a few minutes he started breaking them like sticks to find me so I had only one option left, which was to only focus on my legs speed.

I could swear I ran for less than 10 minutes before a giant serpent with her mouth dripping showed up "what's wrong with you guys?! I just wanted to meet someone and now I'm facing gigantic beasts that wanna eat me alive?" I was sent flying after the orc picked a tree and threw it so close that I almost met my end if it didn't miss me by a few inches.

 I was about to fall to the ground if it wasn't for that serpent opening her mouth to receive me in her stomach embrace which I wouldn't be happy for. The orc hit the serpent and I ended up on his shoulder before falling because of the serpent counter attack that sent him staggered causing me to fall from about 20m. 

The fall did hurt like hell and I barely could move my injured body at the first moment only to receive another hit sending me away. I struggled just to stand up and found that I was surrounded by the monsters from front and back sides, and in the options left were right and left yet my speed can be considered as a worst obstacle.

Looking in both directions I noticed a small creature in the right that I expect to be another monster while I found a knight in the left "A knight? If this place is based on fantasy games or worlds, then it's certainly the knights who fight monsters for the sake of humanity... Right! The mission said to survive and find my saviour!"

 Without hesitation, I ran to where the knight was standing. He was around 2.3m tall so I didn't find any odds in that since it's a fantasy world. I thought I was looking at my saviour the moment our eyes met "Sir knight, I am really grateful for you being here. There are gigantic monsters chasing me." The knight didn't speak but his eyes coldly went from me to the monsters then back to his sword that he took and raised. 

I expected that the blade will swing and cut the monsters that was after me, but what happened next was the most shocking thing I experienced in my whole life after my parents sudden death and Nanami's.The blade was raised then it went back to it's original place before the knight turned around to leave, I wanted to chase after him but my body got stunned in a painful agony. I felt an incredible pain especially my right arm and leg, I was sure that there was a warm liquid dripping, but the horror about the possibility of what happened that took over me slowed my reactions. I fell to the ground losing the feeling of my right leg, rolling painfully, my eyes went to my arm and leg... Both weren't in their place but on the ground nearby, and blood was the only thing gashing from their original places.

 Pain, horror, confusion, and maybe regret were all mixed feelings I felt before my blood drained body felt lighter

I was able to feel the ground shaking as the monsters came closer and I had no way to fight back or even run. I lied down there and surrendered to my painful fate. "If meeting her meant that I am gonna do that in heaven they should have said it from the beginning and I wouldn't accept the offer. If I wanna die I could have done in a less painful way... Nana would never forgive me. It hurts so much... I wonder if Nana felt like this... Was she able to smile so brightly even with this much pain? I feel so bad all of a sudden-" My train of thoughts were cut by the first monster reaching me first, it was the small creature looking like a slime that I avoided. I laughed suddenly "Maybe if I chose that small and weak monster path I could have survived for a longer time-" "Piopino! Pipipio!" I was confused at the weird yet cute language of the small thing that sounded as if it was scolding me. But before I could think of anything, the slime expanded its size and ate my torn leg and hand in one gulp, and then opened its mouth widely to gulp me. I thought it would munch me or its stomach acid would slowly decompose me. To reduce the agony I kept telling myself that after I die, I might be able to meet Nanami again on the other side. This way I could rest more peacefully... But I didn't expect that to make me imagine her holding my dying body tightly asking me to breathe at a slower pace and calm down.

I opened my eyes slowly to see a sea of fire and her gentle smile with tears "Gin, you should fight for me, not die for me. Remember that, I'm still waiting for you."I felt burning heat around me while she was holding me tightly putting her hands on my chest "As long as you keep our promise and fight for it, we will meet once again, in this new world. So please, make it out alive from here" I had one Idea at that moment, I'm dying and being sent to hell. Yet seeing her for one last time was still better than nothing.

Unbeknownst to me, The person I had to fight for years to find, was really there in front of me at that moment.
