Chapter 3:

Brenda, The Fire Mage

Interwinted Hearts: Rise of Amoralia

Genji's POV:

I opened my eyes gasping for air as a dim light showed me the place I was in. It looked like an old cave... or a room. "So you finally woke up! I was scared out of my wits that I failed."

Looking at the source of the voice, I saw a girl. Her eyes were bright and- "Nana? Are you Nana?" At that moment the dream I saw about her and how familiar the brightness of her eyes took over me "Nana? Sorry, I am not. And why ask about someone's name without giving yours first?"

I looked more and found she had nothing similar to Nanami's look, except the bright orange eyes that looked as if she was on fire. The girl in front of me was dark-skinned with red hair that was styled like flames. She looked like 9 or 10 only, and everything about her was like a burning fire "Are you done staring?" Asked the girl bringing me back to focus.

"Can I ask you where we are?" I asked "In Piopino's tummy. Any other questions?" "Is that so... WAIT WHAT?! IN ITS TUMMY?!?" The girl laughed at my reaction heart "Oh, the small monster that ate you in one gulp. It was my friend! And he is a peaceful creature. I designed this place inside him in cases of emergency." I looked around and saw a few small shelves with potions and herbs that might be medical.

The girl continued "I thought you would be smart enough to come in our direction so we can save you with much less injuries but you really went to your doom."

I was confused by that remark because I thought it was the most logical choice, but it would be different if there was a war between two kingdoms and this place was on the borders of one of them "Why is it wrong? Is this kingdom in a war?"

She shook her head "That explains it, you are not from this place. You look like someone from here tho... In this kingdom, Tyrannosia, there is one main rule: The weak are meat, and the strong do eat. The knight's main job isn't protecting people from the monsters, it's the opposite. Only strong people have the right to live, while those weak have additional weight that they should get rid of. If you showed good struggles against the monsters or used any strong magic then that knight would have taken you under his wings to make you stronger knowing you had potential. But even if you are only 6 years old, any sign of weakness means execution. The monsters you faced were of low level for any of Tyrannosia's citizens. You are lucky that I passed by and saw you."

I was shocked to hear such a place exists. In our world, we used to hear about places with abnormal rules but a Kingdom where the weak are meat...

"Whatever! The first thing we should deal with is your limbs. I have a magic spell that might be able to cure them yet it's risky and painful, but I got another way."

My savior took a mirror from her bag and pushed her hand inside as if it wasn't glass but water. Doing so, she brought a gem that looked like an emerald and showed me "This is a magical gem, it is said that it can cure even cut limbs but I never tried it before. I will use it with the condition that you tell me everything about you and why a 6-year-old kid with no skills wanders in such a dangerous place. Your parents should have hidden you since you passed five without dying."

It was the first time I was glad that I had a great imagination as a ghostwriter. I am somewhere far from the real world with someone following my steps and giving me orders, so I had to make up a story just in case. "Uhh... My name is..." I acted as if I was lost when she jumped to the conclusion "Don't tell me! You can't remember?"

I nodded "Somehow I can't remember anything... I woke up here and I don't remember a lot, including my name. I thought I should go wherever humans could be around so I might be able to find my home or family but those monsters chased after me and that knight-" I showed the terrified expression with tears any kid would show up with since I look like a child, softening the girl's heart "Oh my! You have gone through a lot. Probably you got knocked by a monster that caused you to lose your memory. I pity you... Poor little boy."

The girl jumped in excitement as her hair lit so did her eyes and I felt like she was a flame in a human shape "Okay! I will take you to my home so you can stay and rest, then tomorrow we will look for your parents in the town nearby. But first, let me heal you."

The girl took the gem and chanted some words before putting my leg in its place then placed the gem over it. The gem melted taking the skin color before any sign of injuries disappeared. I moved my leg in awe and shock and it worked normally. "My leg is back! Thanks a lot-" She replied with a heavy sigh "You are welcome but I don't have another gem to heal your arm... And probably those gems are expensive."

I was about to tell her that it was okay because if one gem existed there should be another but my phone ringing stopped me. Checking it, I found a notice about me finishing the first mission I had and I can receive a reward after touching the screen. I didn't think too much before doing so and another gem appeared in my hand from nowhere. The tan girl who was looking through the shelves was stunned at the start but she took it from me and suggested that we should hurry to fix my arm. She chanted the same spell and in the same way, my arm worked as if nothing happened.

After fixing my lost limbs I started feeling great and even my bruised body didn't hurt, so I was able to walk freely once again. Once we stepped outside, I was sure that we were inside that monster's tummy...

The chill air made me shiver. "Is it winter?" "Yeah, the weather is always cold just like people's hearts." I remembered the heat from before and asked again "When I woke up I was sweating from the heat... was his tummy that hot?" She chuckled "That wasn't the heat of his tummy, it was the heat of my magic spell. I am a fire mage and all my spells produce a special heat when being cast. You were bleeding and in a critical state so I had to heal the wounds and bruises you had all over your body." "Oh... That explains why I don't have any bruises like before. Thank you.."

I forgot to ask about her name when she replied "It's Brenda! I am Brenda Scarlet Valentine from Tyrannosia. Nice to meet you!" I was about to introduce myself when she was a step behind me "Since you lost your memory I shall give you a new name as your saviour. You look like someone I knew long ago so I will name you Gin. How is it?"

I was kind of shocked that she almost got my name  but accepted nonetheless "Okay.. thank you." She smiled "Don't worry, we will find your origins and family. Now let us head to the town and hopefully, my father will help you reach your homeland. We live at the edge of town."

I nodded and continued walking beside her while she told me more about her "My father is a hybrid between demons and humans and a very strong mage, I'm sure he can use his magic to find your parents. I inherited his fire magic and my mother's healing light magic too which made my spells at a different level than other normal mages"

I was curious so I asked, "Does that mean you're a hybrid too?" "Logically yeah, around 25% in best possibilities but since I don't have any similarities to demons like those sharp long ears and demon horns I consider the possibility of being a normal human more. Right! Don't you remember your magic?" "No... I don't know how to even cast it."  "Well, that's sad... But if we see my father it will all be fixed! Don't worry too much about anything now. Let's get going before the sun sets completely"

With that, she dragged me towards the town.

And that was how I met my very first friend in this new world where survival is for the fittest.
