Power Activation

In just one step, the lava monster has gotten so close that I can barely breathe.

He’s too close…

“Ah !”

Iris takes my collar and pulls me back from the monster.

“You’re not ready for this fight ! Run away !!”

Iris pushes me back with her right hand, I hold out my arms towards her.

I complain “But !”

Iris seems angry. “Do what I say, please !”

The monster hits Yogan who is thrown away and ends up in a stone wall making an explosion sound. Iris has a desperate expression.

“Yogan !”

She whispers “I shouldn’t have come here, I never heard there was such a monster here…”

Yogan gets up trembling then charges to attack the lava monster.

“Yogan stop ! Don’t get close to it !”

Yogan makes an “Aqua Auréole” on her own and throws water at the lava monster which seems to be effective but the very hot steam coming from the mouth of the monster makes Yogan faint.

“Yogan, I won't let your courage be in vain.”

The lava monster tries to punch Iris who avoids each hit. I step back and start to think anxious and afraid.

They are fighting. What should I do ? What should I do ? I don’t want to lose her, I don’t want to lose anyone.

The monster hit Iris with his burning hand, she protects herself with her crossed arms in front of her and gets pushed back, her arms are slightly burned.

“Iris !”

“I’m okay, run away now !”

I have to do something. I can't leave things the way they are.

Suddenly my head starts hurting and I get a memory coming back, everything is blurry but I see a little boy in front of me.

I see images that seemed to be my previous life.

“You play with me ?”

I was running behind a little boy, we seemed to be close, maybe my little brother.

“I love you.”

I answered “I love you too.”

Then my mind switch to another memory in which I was crying :

“He’s dead, he’s dead ! What am I supposed to do now ? He was my only reason to live.”

What, who’s dead ? The little boy ? My little brother, ha…

The memory stops, I am back in reality, I touch my face and find tears falling on my it, I feel myself suffering inside and my heart is heavy, I start to cry.

It’s awkward. I didn't think I would hurt so much, but that doesn't explain why I came to this world. Did something happen to me after he died ? Did I killed myself ? I don’t want to remember those things anymore, please.

“I’m crying ?”

Iris looks at me after hearing me crying.

“Just run away ! Everything will be fine !”

I’m thinking fast and anxious.

Running away ? How can everything be fine ? I have to earn enough money to buy the right to raise Kanamiyah so beating this monster would help me and if I don’t do anything Iris is going to die ! I just want to enjoy this new life, take care of and protect Kanamiyah and help the children and people in need of help. I have to do it, I have to activate my power, there’s no other way. Iris doesn’t have a power that can beat the giant lava monster.

I clench my right fist and my teeth.

“Iris !”

She turns her head towards me while avoiding the punches of the lava monster.

“How do I activate my power ?!”

The lava monster boss opens his mouth big and lets hot burning steam out that Iris avoids by squatting.

“You just have to deeply concentrate and think “I activate my power” and then it’s done !”

“Okay, thanks !”

Kanamiyah is fidgeting as if he wants to play with the monster.

“Well, at least you don’t worry at all.” I stroke his belly, he seems so happy.

“Agh !”

I whisper “Don’t you worry, I’ll protect you.”

While she occupies the monster I try to activate my power. I close my eyes and try to concentrate as deep as I can by slowly breathing in and out.

I activate my power.

After a few seconds.

I feel energy coming inside me from my toes to my head going through my whole body. I feel powerful, as if I could do everything I want to even though I don’t even know my power yet.

« Bulles de joie » says a beautiful woman voice.

She adds in a beautiful and pretty way “It’s your power now, you’re the only one who knows how to use it. Now go with courage and strength.”

It’s like a benediction, so my power is “Bulles de joie” which means “Joy Bubbles”. I wonder what it looks like.

I finally open my eyes and joyfully shout “I have my power now !”

“Bulles de joie !”

There are bubbles appearing one by one around me.

So this is my power. But how can it help me ?

Iris asks “How can it help us now ?”

“I was just asking myself the same question, I’m thinking about it.”

Kanamiyah is making movements, he is making a circle with his hands.

It gives me an idea, if I could make a bigger bubble maybe I could trap the monster inside it and then I could suck it up.

“Thank you Kanamiyah.” I kiss him on his forehead.

“Iris ! Keep disturbing the monster while I try to trap it with my power !”

“Okay, I trust you !”

Iris thinks I don’t know what he’s going to do but I hope it will really work.

She trust me ? I better succeed !

“Bulles de joie ! Bigger version !”

The bubbles appear and are a little bigger than before.

I have to repeat it again and again until I can make a really big one, rather a giant bubble.

After some time, the bubble is half the size of the giant lava monster.

“It’s not enough ! I have to hurry !”

Iris won’t last eternally !

After a few other minutes.

I feel like I can make it but it uses all my energy to make it that size but I have to do it.

The bubble gets big enough, I direct it towards the monster and the bubble wraps it, it seems stuck in it and can’t get out.

I shout “It’s stuck !”

Iris orders me “Now ! Suck it up !”

I take out my sword, the monster hits the bubble again and again but the bubble makes the punches rebound and stops it from hurting me but I still can feel the heat that burns me a little. I hit the monster with the sword and it starts sucking up the monster.

“Ah ! The suction is too strong ! I have to hold on !”

“Cheer up Kanael-san !”

With such cheering, it’s impossible to fail.

After a few torturous minutes where I use all the strength left in my arms, the lava monster boss disappears by being all sucked up.

“We won !”

Iris is about to faint, I run towards her to catch her, she falls in my arms.

“Iris ! Are you alright ?”

“Yes, I’m just tired from avoiding all these punches and the heat.”

Wow she’s sweating a lot and is kind of sexy.

“Even in this state you’re beautiful Iris-san, a bit like an iris flower which water has fallen over on a rainy day.”

“You’re suddenly a poet, Kanael-san.”

“Haha, after all this fight you can call me Kanael.”

“Then just call me Iris but it seems that’s what you were doing all this time.”

“Sorry, I’m not used to this type of language.”

Kanamiyah is restless and seems panicked.

“What’s happening Kanamiyah ? What’s wrong ?”

“Maybe there is another monster and he’s trying to warn us.”

“Ah ! Another monster ?! No, no way, if it’s the case I’ll just run away.”

And if it’s something else, maybe a storm or it’s gonna rain ?

The ground is breaking at the place the monster was and where Iris and I are.

Iris notices the ground breaking and says “Maybe the ground is…”

“What ?”

We’re about to fall, all our strength is leaving us, the ground totally breaks and we fall behind the cliff.

We both shout “Ah !”

Iris calls for help “Yogan, here !”

Kanamiyah is crying “Bouh…” and holding me tight.

I put my hands around Kanamiyah, my right arm on his head and my left arm on his body. “Kanamiyah, don’t worry I’m going to protect you.”

Iris holds me by my back.

Even in a crisis moment like this, I find the way to be embarrassed.

Kanamiyah push me with his little hands.

“Kanamiyah, what are you doing ? Don’t move !”

He gets away by flying towards the cliff.

“Kanamiyah ?!”

Maybe he’s going to find Yogan or some help. Well, I hope.

“Iris, we’re going to crush down !”
