Chapter 2:

Comedic Homecoming

My Yakuza ties are interfering with my After-School Romance Comedy in the Manga club

Upon finally returning home, I was met with the imposing silhouette of our traditional Japanese-style house. It loomed before me like a constant reminder of my family's undeniable yakuza lineage. Stepping through the entrance, I was immediately met with the usual peculiar sight—a lineup of yakuza thugs, each bowing deeply and declaring in unison, "Welcome home, young boss!" Their synchronized chorus was accompanied by additional exuberant declarations: "Young boss, we missed you!" "Did anyone dare to bother you today?" "If they did, consider them taken care of!"

A groan of exasperation escaped my lips, my patience teetering on the edge. "Seriously, guys? Can we just skip the dramatic welcome, just this once?" I couldn't help but add, "And for the record, I absolutely don't need anyone taking care of others in a 'permanent' way. You lot cause enough trouble as it is."

The thugs straightened up, their expressions shifting from overzealous enthusiasm to amused grins. "Of course, young boss, whatever you say."

With an eye roll that could rival any seasoned professional, I retorted, "Honestly, it's not like I've been gallivanting around on some grand adventure. I've been at school, for crying out loud."

Their mock-serious demeanor quickly crumbled into good-natured laughter. "Apologies, young boss. We simply wanted to make sure you felt at home." One of them chimed in with an eyebrow raise, "And just in case someone needed a little... persuasion."

I waved their concern away, offering a half-hearted smile. "Yeah, yeah, thanks, I suppose. But I really mean it, tone down the theatrics next time, okay? We're not in a period drama."

As I ventured further into the house, I couldn't resist muttering to myself, "Sometimes I wonder if they've mistaken our place for a kabuki theater."

The day had been filled with unexpected encounters, but the thought of Akari lingered most prominently. Who were those individuals she had left with, and was she okay? I toyed with the idea of confiding in my father, but the mere thought of his solution often involved turning the situation into a full-blown war. After all, his approach to solving problems could be likened to using lighter fluid to douse a flame.

Speaking of my father, just as the thought crossed my mind, he emerged from his study. His stern expression softened upon spotting me. "Ah, Kazuki, you're back. How was school?"

I offered a nonchalant shrug, suppressing a grin. "Same old, Dad. You know, the usual mix of equations, debates, and awkward interactions."

His laughter resonated, momentarily overshadowing the weight of his position. "Just remember, Kazuki, being the son of a yakuza boss comes with its own set of unique challenges."

Nodding knowingly, I allowed a wry smile to play across my lips. "Yes, Dad, I'm well aware. Such as managing a group of overenthusiastic henchmen who seem to have a flair for the theatrical."

The hallway filled with my father's hearty laughter. "Well, at least they're never short on entertainment."

He took a moment to gaze at me intently, his eyes reflecting a mix of pride and concern. "Remember, Kazuki, I know you're passionate about your manga, but I hope one day you'll consider taking over the family business."

My response was firm, my resolve unwavering. "I appreciate it, Dad, but my path lies elsewhere. I have no intention of involving myself in anything illegal."

A hint of sadness lingered in his eyes as he spoke softly, "I hope that someday you'll change your mind, Kazuki."

As my conversation with my father concluded, I retreated to my room. Collapsing onto my bed, I replayed the day's events in my mind. The whirlwind encounter with Satsuki, the unexpected appearance of Akari, and the enigmatic aura that surrounded her—all of it felt like a swirling vortex of emotions.

"Ugh, why can't I stop thinking about Akari?" I muttered to myself, frustration evident in my voice. "And why does Satsuki's... um, her 'breast ,' keep haunting my thoughts?"

With a sigh, I closed my eyes, a chuckle escaping me as I contemplated the sheer absurdity of it all. High school was meant to be a straightforward journey, filled with either a heartwarming romance or perhaps even my very own harem. And of course, my aspirations of becoming one of the greatest mangaka after high school. Yet here I was, surrounded by yakuza henchmen, entangled in an eccentric manga club, and inexplicably drawn to the enigmatic Akari. It seemed my life was destined to be anything but what I had envisioned.

As I drifted into the realm of dreams, I couldn't help but wonder what other surprises the future held, and how these unexpected twists would shape the narrative of my own romantic comedy.

With a resigned sigh, I surrendered to the whirlwind of chaos that was becoming my everyday life. As I drifted into a deep sleep, an odd dream took hold. Akari appeared, desperately attempting to convey something to me, but her words were lost in her tears.

"Akari, are you okay?" I called out, my voice echoing through the dream. "Why are you crying?"

She struggled to reply, her words barely audible. "H-help... me... Kazuki!"

Just as her message began to clarify, my dream was abruptly shattered by the blaring alarm of my clock. But instead of a mere device, it felt like a yakuza henchman had materialized, yelling a wakeup call.

"YOUNG BOSS, WAKE UP, SIR! IT'S TIME FOR SCHOOL!"

Startled and jolted out of my deep dream, I found myself face to face with Natsu, one of my father's formidable right-hand men. Towering at six feet tall and boasting an intimidating 230 pounds of muscle, he was adorned with tattoos and a scar across his left eye. Not exactly the morning greeting I had hoped for. Caught off guard, my body tensed with fear as Natsu seized me and began shaking me vigorously.

"Young boss, no! Are you okay? Wake up, young boss! Whoever dared to do this, I'll make them regret it!"

Struggling to regain my composure, I yelled at Natsu, "You moron, you're the one causing a heart attack! I was about to rescue my damsel in distress from my dream! Never mind, just put me down so I can get dressed for school."

"Of course, young boss!" Natsu replied earnestly, but he couldn't resist adding, "If it's woman trouble, you're facing, I can offer some assistance."

"Wait, you used to be quite the ladies' man, Natsu?" I inquired.

"Indeed, young boss. I was quite the player in my prime."

"Alright then, Natsu. How do I get a girl to like me?"

Natsu leaned in, offering sage advice. "Well, young boss, what worked for me was rescuing her from a rival gang in the middle of a shootout. Then, you rise through the ranks of your gang to become one of the most feared criminals in Japan."

I let out a sigh of disappointment. "Shootout? Gangs? Natsu, I think our situations might be a bit different. Thanks for the suggestion, though."

"If you ever need help with that rival gang situation, I'm at your service, young boss."

"Sure thing, Natsu. Now, can I please get some privacy to get ready for school?"

"Of course, young boss. Don't hesitate to call upon me."

After a perplexing exchange with Natsu, I finally began the process of getting ready for school. However, my mind was consumed by thoughts of Akari, a distraction that lingered even as I slipped into my school uniform. These thoughts accompanied me on my journey out of the house, accompanied by the emotional goodbyes and cries of my father's henchmen, who seemed to think I was embarking on a perilous adventure.

"We'll miss you, young boss! Please stay safe!"

"Young boss, I'll eagerly await your return!"

"YOUNG BOSS, NO, DON'T LEAVE!" One of the henchmen clung to my shirt, only to be restrained by his comrades.

"Guys, seriously, it's just school! AND LET GO OF ME, YOU ANIMAL! I'll be back later, see you all!"

Finally extricating myself from the clutches of my father's overly attached henchmen, I managed to close the door behind me. As I headed toward school, my thoughts remained fixated on Akari, a flicker of hope urging me to catch a glimpse of her passing by, although my mind was also racing with curiosity about her mysterious departure the previous day.

My train of thought was abruptly interrupted by none other than Satsuki, whose exuberance matched her impressive titties . She ran towards me with infectious energy, her words tumbling out in a rush.

"Heyyy, Kazuki! Good morning! Don't forget that today is our first official club meeting as registered members! And make—"

Satsuki's sentence was cut short as she ran headlong into a tree. I couldn't help but roll my eyes at her carelessness. Naturally, I rushed over to check on her.

"Are you okay, you idiot? Who runs like that?"

Satsuki sat up, rubbing her head and nursing the bump she had acquired. "Yeah, I'm okay. It's not my fault the tree was there."

"Dumbass, that tree has been there for years. You're supposed to look where you're going," I remarked with an understanding tone, helping her to her feet.

"Thanks for your help, Kazuki."

A new voice chimed in, "Well, I see it's already lively this morning."

Startled, I turned to find Akari standing there. A mixture of relief and lingering questions washed over me.

"Hey, Akari, there's something I need to ask you," I began, my tone serious.

"Sure thing, Kazuki. What's on your mind?"

"Well—" I began, but the school bell rang, signaling the start of classes and cutting me off.

"Guess you'll have to ask me later in the club room," Akari stated with a smile. Without further ado, she grabbed hold of both mine and Satsuki's wrists, leading us inside the school.

"Damn it, I didn't get the chance to ask her," I thought to myself, my curiosity piqued. I resolved to wait until we were in the club room to get the answers I sought from Akari.
