Scene 1 "The Kingdom of Sunflowers".

The reddish light of the full moon flooded our room, bathing the yellow walls and the white quilt where my little brother and I rested with a soft glow. My eyes, glowing amber in this special light, I slowly opened them in the stillness of the night. Sitting up on my elbows, I listened intently for soft footsteps approaching.

My heart thrilled as I glimpsed the familiar, kind-faced silhouette of my beloved grandmother silhouetted in the doorway. Despite the lateness of the hour, and the fact that she only planned to kiss us goodnight, I convinced her of a bedtime story.

With short steps, she walked over to the bed and sat down next to us, allowing us to snuggle up next to her.

-Tell us that story again Abu, about when you were a little girl and you were learning to fly..." I said with a tender voice to convince her to stay a little longer with us.

-All right, my children, but then let's go to sleep. First hug me and settle in each on one side.

-Just like Dad used to put us to sleep before..." said my brother without finishing speaking.

-Shh..., first of all to pray. Put your hands together, put your wings away and repeat:

"O great lord of honey, thank you for one more day of life.

Cares for those who have left

and harvest honey from your sacred fields, give us strength and wisdom to guide our people,

deliver us from our visible and invisible enemies and bless our day with abundant labor." Amiel.

-Aaaamiel. - my brother and I repeated synchronously as if it were a children's game.

-My Abu began to speak in her peaceful voice full of nostalgia, recalling in detail her childhood days, when she was less of a queen and more of herself.

-Long ago, when I was still a young princess like you, I liked to visit the various flower fields. The kingdom was huge and it wasn't just big because I was little, it really was gigantic. The northern meadows with healthy yellow tulips and snow-white roses, the southern meadows with intensely colored violets and fragrant gardenias, the eastern meadows with our legendary golden sunflowers so tall and so majestic that everyone who came down the mountain knew without any mistake that he was already in the great Sunflower Kingdom.

-And the one in the west, Abu," said my little brother in a sleepy voice.

-I thought you were already asleep. In that your and my son's favorite flowers, the field of marigolds, oranges, whites, yellows and various other shades. I am glad that at least the western meadow survives almost intact, so we can continue to put flowers on its altar, on the day of those who have already left, after all it was among cempasuchitl where I fell a lot of times learning to fly.

Wings are part of our nature as Abejoids but they don't come with instructions, you must strengthen them to be able to use them masterfully and when you are royalty, you must manage to master flying to perfection... One of those days to train myself, I decided to fly alone to the institute, the morning trip had no major complications, but when I returned it was starting to rain, the sky was darkening rapidly and the water began to fall with greater force. Drops the size of my body were falling all around me and the wind was blowing so hard that I felt as if my antennae and wings were going to detach from my body.

-Were you afraid, Abu? -I asked him, mainly because I always am.

-Of course I was afraid! but I also knew it, I knew that this storm was a test of what awaited me in life, I could not escape it, I had to face it with courage and honor... I was hit by the giant drops, not one or two, but

twenty times, with my wings soaked and my body hurt, I managed to reach the Panalacio, only with my last and own strength, despite the storm, in complete darkness, I managed to locate myself thanks to an intense light that came out of the main room for an instant, a light I had never seen before which lasted only less than a blink of an eye, and so slowly recovering in my hexagonal bed, I understood that flying and living will always be an adventure.

Very soon it will be your coronation ceremony my princess, you will officially be the princess of the sunflower kingdom, becoming my successor, you must rest, tomorrow we have a big working day ahead of us.
