Chapter 6:

Everything He Wants To Know

He Who Has Made A Mistake

"I would like this udon here and the mixed vegetable tempura. For the drink I'll have some ice lemon tea. You, Ki-kun?"

"Um...I'll just take this ramen here then. And a cola too please."

"Anything else Nishikawa?"

"Nope, Rana-san."

"Okay, please wait."

"Servant, thou hast my gratitude."

"I'm not your servant..." Shuu's coworker left the table with our order. Shuu's behaviour does elicit some questions sometimes.

"So, why here, again?"

"Well, I work here. It's my job to bring in customers as well after all."

"Right..."

"Plus, you left before eating yesterday. You should at least try the food here. You'll be amazed at how well my minions can cook."

"Y-yeah... Y-your m-minions..." I decided to just accept the situation and go with his flow. "But, aren't they your supervisors?"

"They don't do that great of a job at it though. They just let me do what I want."

For some reason I could feel our table being stared by a number of eyes. Rather than them letting you do what you want Shuu, I think you simply just do you what you want.

"A-Anyways Shuu, you said you're gonna tell me about Miu once again?"

"Yep. So, what would like to know?"

"Well... okay, so to make it clear, Miu wants me to change some habits of mine if I want to have a chance of being with her again?"

"Exactly."

"Well, what do you mean by a chance of being with her again? Does that mean it is not guaranteed that I can be with her again even if I followed the list she has made?"

"Yes. Just because you follow the list doesn't mean you two will be boyfriend-girlfriend again."

"Wait, if it isn't certain, then why even...?"

"Cuz at the end, it's all Miu's decision. She has broken up with you, Ki-kun. It's her decision if he wants to go back to you or not. The list is simply the things she want you to change. But, it will definitely affect her decision."

"So, I'm changing parts my life for something that it I might not even be rewarded with?

"Yes. I cannot guarantee you a rainbow after the storm."

That's insane... If it was certain that she would come back, then I'll happily change my lifestyle. But there might not even be a reward at the end. It doesn't seem fair. Well, I mean, what are the changes in the first place. What's the cost on my end.

"What's in the list? What do I have to do?"

"I cannot tell you the entire list at once. It's a one at a time thing."

Oh, great... I don't even know how much it will cost me for something that's not even guaranteed. A part of me is starting to regret all this.

"Well, what about Miu? How will she know if I have done everything in that list?"

"Yours truly of course."

"Ah..." Okay, that make sense. I'm surprised I didn't have figured that out already.

"I'm your prison guard of sorts. Everything that you do, I tell her. Every thing on the list you complete, I'll tell her. I'm watching over you for her."

"How do you know if I have completed or not?" Theoretically I could just lie my way and say I did what he asked me to.

"I have my ways. You should be careful if you're planning on lying to me." He warned me. Well, I wasn't really planning on lying to Shuu.

"W-wait. Does that mean you're still in contact with Miu?"

"Yeah."

"Do you know where she is now?!" The tone of my voice raised slightly. "She said she isn't going to our school anymore."

"Yeah. She's in Singapore."

HUH?! She's not even in Japan, let alone a school nearby. It practically feels like we have separated.

"Singapore?!?! She's transferring to a school there? When is she coming back?"

"She transferred to a school in Singapore for her second and third year of high school. Though, when she's coming back, it's not sure."

"W-wait why Singapore. She never told me..."

"She said there's a course or class she wants to take there. I'm sure she wanted to tell you."

Oh right... on that day, she did say she wanted to tell me that she was leaving. I'm sure I wouldn't have to ask Shuu all these questions if I had talked to her...

"Wonder what course she wants to take there..."

"I don't know. Bro, you were his boyfriend, you seriously don't know? You being a bad boyfriend to her annoys me so bad, you know, Ki-kun."

"Y-yeah... s-sorry..."

I just noticed it recently, but I was truly being a horrible boyfriend. I don't even know something as simple as her passion and hobby. Has she told me but I've completely forgotten about it, or do I absolutely have no idea?

"W-wait, you're in contact with her, right Shuu?"

"Yeah. What's wrong?"

"Couldn't you just then tell her I'm sorry?"

"Ki-kun, it doesn't work like that."

"W-wait, how about you just do me a favor and tell her I've changed? Then all of thi-"

"Ki-kun. Stop talking. You sound so disgusting right now. You're absolutely pathetic, Ki-kun," His voice grew sharper. "Say that once again, I dare you."

"S-sorry, sorry..." I guess it's not gonna be that easy.

"I'm telling her whatever I feel like telling her about you."

"Y-yeah..."

Man... I don't even know what I have to do, I don't know how much change I will have to make in my life, I don't know if Miu will accept me at the end, and to top it off Miu is in another country and the only form of contact is Shuu, and he only tell her whatever he wants, so I basically have no way of communicating with her.

It seems basically over for us.

I begin to doubt my current situation and if it is truly worth it to take this path. The list is just too much of a random variable that it might be pointless at the end and I'll just have wasted my efforts. But if I can return to Miu then it will be worth it. But, that's just an 'If'.

Ah man...

But, I mean... I guess all of this was my fault. If I had listened to Miu and what was happening with her and talked it out, I could have avoided all of this. I reaped what I sowed I guess....

Ah... I really wanna settle things with Miu though... I owe her a lot...

FINE! FINE! It was my own mistake, I'll fix it and I'll bear the risk myself. Even if we might have to end up separated, I have to at least talk things over with her. That was a horrible way to part ways. We could at least stay in contact. And for that, it seems this is the only way.

"Okay, fine. I'll follow the list."

"Attaboy." Shuu smiled at me, proud of my decision.

"Well, what should I do next?"

"Well, it's something that you kinda have made progress on, so it might not be too hard for you now."

Oh, finally. The first good news I've heard all day.  "Well, what is it?"

"You have to break up with Rei-kun."
